Many youtubers are pushing Neo to its limits and forcing it to do things that it's not intended to....then when the drone fail they say that it's a piece of crap and don't realize that it's only a $200 drone

Nice vid :) Good job on saving it. I tried mine for the first time yesterday, mountain biking at a ski hill near Montreal...sadly also a fail, the drone parked itself 5x on a short 5 minute descent, still analyzing the footage to figure out what spooked it! I'm guessing the slope of the trail somehow messed up the tracking, but it never crashed into anything, just lost me and parked. Cheers

You can try to set it to high above you it may be better however going under a bridge may be a new issue than. I will probably do som testing with it this weekend if it is not too windy. FoilDrive. Also maybe use something that have a big contrast maybe help. Any way you should probably use the remote so you have return to home. I think DJI mini 4 Pro is better for this job.
@RoamFoils3 ай бұрын
I had it set to high and far. I wish it went a little higher. Yes a return to home option would have been nice. I hope we get a firmware update for these features.
@gregb15993 ай бұрын
No reason it cannot get return to home as it's available using the phone and controller together. I find my Neo lands if it's too dark and can not see clearly, that mostly happens flying indoors.
@albertoalan21723 ай бұрын
Can you share the results of your testing? I would like to buy a Neo for the same reasons using foil drive but to follow me on the beach for surfing in beach breaks
@alfskaar4893 ай бұрын
@@albertoalan2172 I have delayed my testing since since they are constantly coming out with new firmware. Maybe it will improve flying over water. As a general rule anything that goes above water needs to float.

if it looses satellite when over water it relies on it`s sensors which don`t work only on land. think you lost the gps satellite link under the bridge.
@thefoildesigner3 ай бұрын
I had the same idea but for downwinding sessions. The problem is that I would have to launch it and retrieve the drone in the water (scary ;-). That said, I did the maths, and if I can do this twice I will break even, as hiring a drone video operator may cost roughly $100 per session...

@RoamFoils3 ай бұрын
I imagine someday DJI will have a drone that can be flown overwater without issue.
@gregb15993 ай бұрын
Total rubbish the drone can be flown over water without issue if you are not stupid and fly it in low light, all the successful flights are using the phone and controller together which adds active track, however that would not be practicable while doing water sports. Can any other drone fly over water without the controller? Even the Hoverair X1 cannot fly over water at all.
@jessefarsang51433 ай бұрын
@@gregb1599 X1 Pro / ProMax can and is specifically catered to water/snow sports.

@@gregb1599 have you used a Neo over water yourself then? I was thinking of getting one for kayaking (only flat water cruising, no white water) but a lot of people are saying it can go nuts over water. This video doesn’t inspire moth confidence tbh.

I saw another youtube, flying DJI neo at night, it has difficulties and wants to land. I think the shadow under the bridge causing this, suddenly it's dark and wants to land
@RoamFoils3 ай бұрын
I think it must have been something like that. Or maybe the iron bridge had something to do with it?
@gregb15993 ай бұрын
@RoamFoils No, it's definitely the light problem, I have the same issue, I believe the firmware fixed the original problem that in low light it would go full speed forward and crash! Just do not fly over water in low light or possibly even cloudy days, or use the controller as that adds RTH

Be careful with this drone. I've been watching videos on how this drone performs over water, and it's bad. So, I tried to only fly it by the beach. Guess what? Even just by the beach, with no water below, right after it took off, it drifted quickly sideways, far from me, and I almost hit a person about 30 meters away! I couldn’t do anything, it was completely uncontrollable. I couldn't even land it, and it all happened so fast. The sea was very calm that day.
