I’ve come across your channel a couple days ago and started watching videos about neo. After 2/3 vids I’ve noticed that you only have 5k subs and I was shocked :D I was certain that you have at least a couple hundred k. Love your vids and I hope you will become big coz you deserve it 100%. I’ve bought neo 2 days after release and I was too scared to try all the things that you did so thanks for that!! @@B-water oh no that’s a pain- did you have care refresh? I experienced gusts literally taking over control a few times in this video and it’s not pleasant at all!! It’s a tiny drone though so nothing to hold against the Neo. The Mavic 3pro I’ve flown in literal sandstorms in the highlands of Iceland and it coped.

My Neo (or should that be I) got caught out by some gusty wind up on a fell the other day. Everything was fine at eye level, but then, when I took it up above a few meters it was taken way of to my right, propellers wining, before it finally ended up in some deep some grass about 15 meters away. It was none the worse for wear apart from it needed drying off from the morning dew on the grass. As you keep saying though, for the price it's still a good buy, especially for a newbie to drones like me. Thanks for your content.

Loved the Medium Follow. The Neo didn't launch. It did an "Exit - stage right" hysterical. This one is truly at the mercy of the wind. I can see why my Mavic 3 Pro is so stable in wind. It's battery is 381 Grams by itself, equal to almost 3 Neo aircraft @405 grams, lol! - It's like a rambunctious puppy. You need to train it. You're a braver man than I flying in manual in that wind so close to the cliffs of insanity! I suspect it is SO STRONGLY AFFECTED by wind mostly due to weight. As you said. DJI Drones generally scoff at the wind, but not this one!

@@sohitxd4310thanks - to be honest for landscape video and photography a mini 3 or 4 would be better if your budget allows for it. Additionally you may want to wait a few weeks as there is a new drone rumoured (the Dji flip) which may suit your requirements better too

@@Slickdave69 I live in the south east coast which tends to get hit by wind quite a lot. The conditions I flew in were a bit too much but even down here that level of wind isn’t a regular occurrence - you’d be absolutely fine around 10-12mph winds. I did a range test yesterday flying into a 10mph NE wind and it coped ok. If you’re in a scenario where you HAVE to be able to fly most days though then yes a bigger drone would be a safer choice for sure. Hope this helps perhaps.

@@moriwaky I really hope so but there’s no way of knowing. What I do know is that the Neo transmits on 50mbps which is not exactly the same as the avata 2 which is on 60mbps. Therefore it may not be a straight forward O4 system and that may be positively suggesting backwards compatibility will be possible. That’s just 100% speculation though. I can almost guarantee there will be updates for the Neo though so fingers crossed some backward comparability will be among them

Wind performance is weird. It holds a lot of wind, but once it gets a little crosswind it throws gimbal and RTH red popups left and right.

@@_gelon I think it’s somehow due to its limited power - it can fight strong wind when all 4 motors are providing thrust but once individual motors have to work harder to stabilise cross wind, stop yaw rotation etc it struggles

Interesting test but no need to do this at the cliffs, i.e. the little drone fighting for its life. This shows no respect, even if you bought it yourself. This maybe a cheapo drone for you, but for a lot of people it's not. Anyway, this little guy weights almost nothing. Add mini propellers so for me it's a surprise it could fly in these conditions so well. These are a lot of KZbinrs making fun of this little drone, using it at or beyond specifications - but almost no-one mentiones its biggest strength - and this not surprisingly results from its limitations. It's so small, so light, the tiny propellers so well protected, that even when it crashes in most cases it does so without taking any damage

It’s a great tiny drone and perfect for what I need BUT I’ll wait for v2. I heard that the Neo has no GPS or relies on your phone/remote and without it, you can’t fly it above water and stuff because there altitude sensor/gps doesn’t work well. Besides, I wouldn’t mind 50g and 50€ more and a much better performance: more battery life, a little bit more power and a better downwards sensor and image sensor. That or buy it on a sale. ATM and with the current firmware, it still doesn’t convince me.

It does definitely have GPS and certainly in Manual mode you can fly absolutely fine over water. I think the biggest issue people are having flying over water is with the AI active track or general smart functions. Even Normal and sport mode should be fine. All that being said, it does still have a few bugs but I'm sure most of them will get ironed out with firmware updates soon. I personally would have preferred a slightly heavier but more powerful version with weight still under 250g.

@@dronewilder5234 Yeah, me too, but it seems very practical and I definitely doubt between this one and the mini 3. The big brother retails for 350 in my country and comes with a remote control and can fly up to 38 minutes so the price between them (batteries + remote which, for me, is a must have) is very small. If the mini 3 was about the size of the Neo, I would definitely go for the mini 3

@@AzBachour that would almost double its weight! It’s a very underpowered drone - adding weight may make it sit more solidly up to a certain point but once it has to combat stronger winds it will yaw spin quite severely (that’s my experience with adding excessive weight to other drones)

@@AzBachour I can try and test it at some point but seriously even 50g on this small drone is a hefty amount and will make flight characteristics and wind handling worse. If you could match the increased weight with extra power then yes this would help tremendously. For best wind handling in extreme conditions such I’d shown, I would stick to the default weight and setup. This is my experience from flying drones since 2008 🙂.

@@dronewilder5234 One of the bigger issues it the power delivery system. If I'm correct, the NEO uses a Li-Ion battery and not an Lipo battery. Lipos have much more amp draw capabilities and can provide thrust and power even in windy conditions. Li-ion batteries have a low C rating and just can't produce the power. If he adds 50 grams to it, nothing will happen except it will be much harder to get proper lift, let alone any type of speed at all. Besides that it is only a 2s or 2 cell battery. If it were a 3s 3 cell it would have more power, but the prop diameters still limit what this little guy can do. DJI has truly maxed out the NEO with its current weight.

I would also caution you not to add more weight to this little guy as you might get lucky for a few flights, but adding 100 grams will decrease the life span of the NEO's esc or motors. Then you would be stuck with a $200 paper weight. I have blown out many esc's and motors adding too much weight to light quads. Lol. 😅
