a tip for new gimbal users, wtch a bit of old samurai movies and watch their way of walking when circling each other in a duel and then try replicating that walk. it removes easily 50% of camera shake.

Thank you very much for this fantastic video. I'm considering buying a SE. However, Mobile 6 seems impressive as well. Everything else is unconsiderable except for that zooming wheel. I mean that's a really cool feature. It's a cinema camera feature. If new gimbal makers can include that feature and improve it with some acceleration and deceleration for Focusing and Zooming that would be great for the future of Mobile videography.

Thanks for the vid Dan. I’ve been going back and fourth in which one to buy for streaming at work of my daily activities. I think the SE will suit me just fine. I don’t need the extra stuff that the 6 has. It’s great to have options. I am also going to rig a handlebar mount to my chest. I’m going to use the handlebar part to hold the gimbal and then use the screw mounted part directly to my chest rig. I’m anxious to see how this works out. I'm going to buy one today - I think I'm going to go for the SE - I want to vlog football matches and the selfie stick on the 6 might not get past security in stadiums - plus the longer battery life is a big plus I think. I have a go pro 11 and a a6500 for other things - I think the SE will do the job - just a pity about the colour

This video was already really helpful but one thing i'd like to know is how well they really stabilize. I have somewhat shaky hands and often i take pictures that require atleast of one second exposure and high zoom(like aurora borealis or pictures of the moon). I have a mid-range phone that has 10x zoom in it and on those levels the internal stabilization just isn't enough for my hand shakiness. I'd love to see long exposure stabilization on these as dji products are easily available pretty much everywhere. On the quick lookup i only found videos and tips straight from dji but a non-biased source would be a lot better. I previously had a flagship phone and even on that the built-in stabilization was struggling on higher zoom levels because even that required calmness and settings tweaking before you could get a decent pic.

Yes, the stabilisation from a gimbal would definitely help. I have zoomed in on a few occasions and have found that the footage is stable.

Great review. I have Zhiyun Smooth Q, but my phone is too heavy for my Zhiyun and now im looking for one of these. I went to jbhifi today and i saw SE version they only have one left because it's cheaper and have more juice in the battery. Both are identical but the other has long neck. In my mind i want the extended pole.

I have the Osmo mobile 3 still, seems still the same as Osmo mobile SE minus the magnetic mount. I think software-wise they don’t cap the old gimbals? Not sure but based on what I see on OM 6 reviews it looks very similar still. However I am considering the insta 360 flow as the upgrade, seems the software there is better. I do have a bias for DJI products having owned a few. So maybe if OM 7 comes out with better tracking that will also work down to older models like the OM 6?

I believe that DJI would try to incentivise people to upgrade so they might make ActiveTrack 6.0 available for the OM 7 (for example). Check out the Hohem M6, I’ve created a review on my channel for this smartphone gimbal recently. It is really cool 👌

Really great video. I was looking at getting the 6 for some upcoming family trips, I didn't actually know about the SE. Now I've got a real conundrum. I actually like the built in selfie stick, I've never owned one before but in that form factor it seems useful. But then am I really going to pay nearly $100 for a selfie stick? But if you don't have it or need to carry something else around... I might just wait and see if there are any deals in the sales.

Now coming from the Osmos Mobile 3, is the 6 that worth it? The side wheel is pretty tempting along with the extension rod. On Amazon in the US I see it going for $160 (about 232 AU) right now which isn't bad considering I paid about 150 for the 3.

I don’t use Android, you can use other apps - you can still move the gimbal but the record button and tracking feature will not work.

Having two active stabilization systems on at the same time could either compliment each other, or they could work against each other. Either way, the final videos would not accurately reflect the DJI models true capabilities. Thanks, Mike

Hello! Can you comment briefly on the weight of the two? Is the SE heavy/much heavier than the 6? I am a woman and I wonder if the SE will be a lot heavier. Thank you! Also, if I were to use either one at a dining table at a restaurant, say, would a 6 with the extension rod be better to achieve a height that will get me in the frame while sitting?

The weight is similar. I think that most phone cameras have a wide field of view so either unit will do fine in that scenario. Either way, you’ll be happy with both. The extension rod can come in handy and they are both relatively cheap so the Osmo Mobile 6 is a no brainer for most people.
