what fps would you recommend indoors with not so great light? Would you say 60 fps is better than 30 fps ? When I move the camera indoors at 25 fps it gets a bit blurry and gives you headache, I wonder if I changed it to 60 fps would it be smoother?

First off - Thanks for making such an awesome and helpful video. I'm kind of new to Vlogging and decided to jump in by purchasing a Pocket Osmo 3! I'm super excited - I leave to LA for a concert and plan on vlogging the entire trip! A lot of my filming will be in areas that are indoors in low light since the sun sets so early, (Mostly restaurants and museums and such) I will NOT be editing post production and I want to give my editor the best raw footage possible. I've played around with some of the settings and wanted your opinion! I plan on shooting in 4k 50 frames EV Exposure at 1/50 with Iso anywhere from 400-800 in D-Log M Sharpness at -2 and Noise Reduction at -2 Want to know if I'm maybe missing something or if i should adjust these micro settings for optimal raw quality. Or should I just scrap this entirely and just shoot in Auto Low - Light :)

If you’re shooting at 50 fps you’ll want your shutter speed to be 1/100 which isn’t ideal for low light if you want to keep the ISO low. So I’d actually suggest 25fps and shutter speed 1/50. Noise reduction -1.

Hi Tamara, About the shutter speed, I think the Pocket 3 had the same nice extra little feature like the Action 3 and 4 which is: On the top left corner in the exposure settings when in auto and if you press on the S1/50 part and it should give you to choose the minimum shutter values. So if shooting in 25 fps, I believe you can still set the camera to operate between 50 to 8000 shutter values in auto. I am also sincerely hoping on this as still waiting for my pocket 3. The A3 and A4 have it too when shooting in 25fps, but the minimum value you can set on those is 100 to 8000 (probably set by dji because of how the electronic stabilisation works) Hopefully, they've included the 50 minimum value in the pocket 3? Best !

In short, you’d need to adjust your shutter speed. To what will depend on the electrical frequency of your location and your frame rate.

Great video again. I think your main light is too low because I can always see your computer reflected in your glasses. You can avoid this by pulling the main light further up.

New Feature Requests for the New DJI OSMO Pocket 3 1. Add a dwelling time for each of up to four settable movement positions in Motion Time-Lapse Mode. As each of the four settable positions programmed into a motion time-lapse sequence is reached, the end user could set from 1 to 10 seconds of a pause in gimbal movement as each programmed position is reached during the sequence before the gimbal moves forward to the next programmed position. This would yield a much more dynamic and professional looking, smoother motion time-lapse sequence. 2. In Motion Time-Lapse Mode the ability to set movement ease in and ease out settings from 0.5 to 3 seconds for each programmable gimbal position before gimbal movement normal progression rate is reached. 3. True 24.00p filming speed. 4. The ability to set time-lapse sequences based on 24.00p. 5. The ability to be able to record from the DJI Mic 2 and from a plugged in via USB audio source at the same time. 6. Adding a 10 Bit 4:2:2 recordable video codec. 7. Please add zoom capability when shooting in all time-lapse modes.

Do you dislike always having to use active track when focusing on your face? The footage ends up jerky because the op3 moves with every little movement of your face. Wish dji had a face tracking option without the gimbal movement in active track mode. Am I missing something?

You don’t have to use ActiveTrack in selfie mode, you can turn it off in the main menu. It’s called FT Selfie.

@@TamaraGabrielUK I'll have to test it out when I get mine. I've seen other reviewers actually mentioned this and say that they continuous autofocus won't stay on the face unless active track was on. Maybe they don't know about that feature that you mentioned with the face track.

@@TamaraGabrielUK turning on the ft selfie makes the active track automatically turn on when you go into selfie mode. It does not focus on the face and track the face across the screen which is what I want. I don't want the gimbal moving I just want the face in focus all the time when it's in frame. The osmo pocket 3 doesn't do that. Perhaps you were misunderstanding my comments above and what I want the osmo pocket 3 to do.

Your shutter speed should be set to double your frame rate. If shooting 60 frames per second,, your shutter should be 120th of a second. If your frame rate is 30 frames per second, your shutter should be set at one 60th of a second. This is the professional standard used in video recording to record the natural blur as your eyes normally see things.

Keeping the shutter speed down in low light situations also lowers the required ISO setting, which often creeps up in these situations. The 180 rule is a standard used in most all professional situations. Motion blur is a positive, not a negative. It makes for a more realistic view, similar to how your eyes see the same action or non-action in a scene.

@sucofnisucofni8935 I agree with part of what you say, but not all of it. I have yet to see those action movies you speak of, as most use action blur to make the action look much more realistic. You don't even notice the blur, as it happens so fast that the blur makes it look real. As to ND filters, I agree that they are a hassle to use. I normally shoot 60 frames per second in order to achieve a smooth but sharp looking effect when panning, but I try to not use ND filters unless I absolutely have to do so. But, in low light situations, ISO becomes a major factor that can easily introduce noise, especially when using faster shutter speeds than the 180 rule provides. I have the DJI Pocket, the Pocket 2, the Pocket 3, the Action 3, the Action 4, and the Insta360X3 cameras, in addition to a Nikon Z8 with several lenses. The Z8 allows increasing the f-stop to make the 180 degree rule quite easy to achieve. Also, its 45 mp full frame sensor allows high ISO settings without introducing noise.

Haha! At one point my room was full of real, beautiful plants and then one got thrips, and that was the end of all of them even though I tried to treat them for ages. I just gave up, I don't have time for a room full of real plants anymore 🙈 though it was so lovely.

Love your videos, but the pocket 3 has been proven to be a mechanical disaster for many people. It’s a deeply flawed mechanical design. That being said love your channel. I personally think the ace pro is a much better camera overall, considering it has a comparable low light performance, and it actually fits in your pocket unlike the pocket three, which is humongous when you stick it in your pocket with the case. I am so in the strong belief that DJI has paid many KZbin channels not yours but many others to say positive things about this camera. I personally experience really bad issues with this camera (I returned it). In the forms and small channel are also reporting the same issues. I don’t think I would ever trust DJI again especially after the action 3 launch and now this pocket 3 mess.

I got the ace pro and while the pocket 3 does have good low light so does the my ace pro the difference is minimal between the ace pro and pocket 3. I hoping next year for an action camera like the ace pro with a one inch senor. My ace pro is water and dust prof unlike the pocket 3. But I am glad you don’t have issues as for me DJI isn’t trust worthy

I’ve been using the Pocket 3 almost daily since receiving it and I genuinely haven’t had any issues. It’s been great to the point where I’m considering getting a second one to do multi-cam shoots when filming b-roll. What issues are you having with it?

@@TamaraGabrielUKgimbal was stuck in vertical position upon start up. Gimbal was loose where you can hear it rattling while filming. Gimbal would slam into its end point when hand turning the camera while filming making a loud bang noise against its end point. Videos would not show up on the Mimo app unless I turned off cellular data for my Apple 14 pro max 15 Pro max and iPhone pro M2 chip. (I used the recommended SD card). Best Buy had a tech support called geek squad and they confirmed the issues and recommended returning them. I definitely not alone at least I didn’t have the screen rotation issue where the screen suddenly breaks doesn’t rotate correctly anymore.
