This review (was one these I have watched which) made me choosing the Osmo Pocket over the Pocket 2. Decisive for me were the color science, the tracking and the 26mm field of view. As far I can see the picture quality is still holding up quite well (in 2022) - especially for such a small and practical device which can be bought nowadays ridiculously cheap.

I have 1 and 2 (lucky me). For me the big feature of the 2 is the incredible audio features with the bundle version - stereo mic doubling as headphone out, wireless mic for commentary, and a remarkable 4 mic array which features steering of the stereo image to match the direction of the gimbal head. And the wind noise reduction is fine too (doesn't mess with the sound when there's no wind). But as you point out, the image quality of the 1 is very good, and mounting both cameras on a bar gives you a choice of image width to suit the shot - and you can run both cameras and use the audio from the 2 when you use the video from the 1. As you said - it is a great camera for everyday but it is a kind of princess, I have the second one now, because the gimbal error. As there is no way to fix it than send it to Frankfurt, the shop I have bought it gave me a new one, to solve the problem.I do most of my footage with this camera and definitely recommend it for everyday use, having it in your pocket as simple as that.

the model 1 is awesome. I currently own 6 pcs. of them. I'll use them in low-light indoor club-recordings. Picture quality is better than Osmo Action1. I attached two small passive cooling elements with glue on their 'shoulders'. So I can record 6h+ without overheating (external power is needed).

There is warp stabilizer basically in any editing software, but the effect is limited. Anamorphic lens won’t give you “bokeh look”.

This is a very random question, but my brother has been an active hobby photographer and maker of short films. A few years ago he developed Parkinson's Disease and now his hands shake most of the time. Do you think the gimbal on this camera would be enough to correct for his hand shaking? I'd love to help him be able to film again.

That is a difficult question, it will definitely help a lot, but I am not sure whether it will be able to provide completely stable footage. Operating Psmo pocket may require fine motor skills, so I am no sure whether it is a suitable device in this case. Something like a GoPro with solid handle would probably be better.

The only camera I have is the one on my phone and I was thinking of getting one of dji pockets but I’m not sure of which one to get should I get the original pocket or pocket 2 the original one seems like the better buy since it’s only 200 verses the pocket 2 around 500 I guess you do get xtra stuff with it creator combo etc but you would have to buy all that extra stuff anyway with the original pocket but I know the pocket 2 without the creator combo is only 349.00 and I guess that is ok but you don’t get mic or the mimmo or ai editor but since I am getting the first camera maybe 🤔 it wouldn’t hurt just to get the original to start off

Why the footage looks blurry while panning even in 60 fps? 60 fps on my galaxy s10 lite is buttery smooth while panning. 2. 1. because it doesn't have EIS, smooth panning requires practice 2. not possible on OP, it would be pointless anyway due to fixed focal length lens. You can zoom in in post.

I’m far from a camera guy but I bought one of these for $100 on Craigslist to basically use as a dash cam for my motorcycles. I only shoot at 1080 and the quality is still beyond what I’d hoped for. The gimbal definitely feels a little fragile but that’s just the nature of the beast. I use it with a backpack strap clip from Amazon and it’s pretty out of the way. Granted I’ve only been using it for a week but haven’t had any real issues with it.

I have the Pocket2 and is always my go to camera even over my iPhone 12 Pro max. I have a professional 4K camcorder and a Sony a6400 and RX10. I am pretty set on cameras, but the Pocket2 is so easy and lastly and most important. Fun! I think also for older kids starting out in creating content and those young at heart, these are great. Also love the Stealth feature of the Pocket2. Doesn't draw attention to itself.

I had a love hate relationship with this device until the very end. I had it for 3 years. It was amazing at what it did and for me the field of view was just fine. The hate part was the fact it was fragile for my environment I would use it for. It rained alot and my kids love playing with my cameras. At the end I had to say good bye to it just because I've had to many close calls and missed opportunities for the type of vlogging I was trying to accomplish.

The filed of view is wider on pocket two and it has better video in low light but not worth the upgrade if you have a pocket one. I love my pocket one and I have noticed that this type of gimbal camera is great as well as action cameras. People do not notice it as much, video is good enough and for me stabilization is a must for video content today. It is just like a smartphone, so easy to bring with you and so much more reliable compared to a smartphone, it just works. If you want to use your smartphone instead you must buy a gimbal and that is not as portable as this device. I just hate shaky video so much but can accept over all poor video quality. By the way, the video quality from the pocket one is even better straight from the camera than what you will see on KZbin, just remember that when you view reviews of this device. The sad part is that crappy control wheel, it works but the joystick on pocket two is so much better for controlling the device. If they only had included that on the pocket one with four speed settings. Perhaps they will release a new pocket device eventually. After some use with the pocket one I wish they would have made it a bit larger and thicker or in general larger as it a bit to small, I find it is hard to handle the device from time to time. I do not have large hands but still find it a bit to small for gripping it in a secure way. This is still the best video camera for me and sometimes I use a action camera, forget DSLR, smartphones etc. Larger devices are great for things where you plan ahead but this gimbal is like a smartphone, you can always have it with you and that is what I like. It is so portable. Great review as usual :-)

Thank you, although I disagree, Pocket 2 is definitely worth it, even if you have Osmo Pocket. Pocket 2 is very different device in the real-world use. As I have explained, it isn’t a direct upgrade, so comparing them directly isn’t very useful.

You mention it is an f/2.0 lens. Maybe mention that with the 1/2.3" sensor that is equivalent to about f/11 on a full-frame sensor. As a full-frame sensor (area 864mm^2) is 29 times larger than 1/2.3" sensor (area 29.73mm^2). Which is approximately 5 stops less light on the image sensor compared to full-frame.

I don't see any reason to mention full frame equivalent in this case. People will compare the aperture on OP to Smartphones or GoPro, so mentioning full frame equivalent would only cause confusion.

No, Pocket 2 has additional features that can't be added to Osmo Pocket via FW update. Regarding which is a better deal, it is not possible to answer that. As I have explained, Pocket 2 is basically different type of camera so it depends on what you are looking for.

I don't think that it is "production prototype" at all, I don't really see anything that needs to be fixed, especially on Pocket 2. The whole concept with interchangeable lenses didn’t really lead anywhere. Buying a camera and gimbal is a better option for majority of users nowadays.

Make it stupid easy to get great shots out of it by including a bunch of build in tricks that the Mirrorless/Gimbals Combo could only dream of.

Just the opposite, it wasn't able to gain market share even when the selection of gimbals was pretty limited. Gimbals are very affordable nowadays, so people will just buy a gimbal and a camera that be used with or without a gimbal. There are no "tricks" that mirrorless / gimbal combo can't do.

@@TheHybridShooter I'm not saying your wrong. I have a GH5/gimbal, and I have an Osmo. And I rarely/never use my GH5/gimbal. Its too much effort and bulk to set up as a one man band. But if I had a m43 gimbal thing, I think I'd use it a lot more as it would cut all the set up stuff. I think one of the key benefits with a m43 gimbal is it would still be way smaller then a regular camera/gimbal. I think there is lots of applications where this would be the better choice. Go back to when they did launch it, I think the market was not ready for it. Everyone was talking Cannon FF in most of the camera review channels. I think they under marked and that's why nobody use it or knows about it. I mean, they even had a RAW version too years ago. People just were not ready for it back then.
