Drone Supremacy : All were extremely useful. But the use of the built-in effects to me was the most useful, since a lot of shots I like doing are more advanced and require skill and concentration. Such as the circling around a fixed object. My favorite cinematic shot. Thx for sharing your experiences. It’s really appreciated.

Tip number 2. Flying low. Not so sure about Tip number 4, though. If you record EVERYTHING, it´s a hassle afterwards dealing with lots of megabytes. Cheers from Argentina

Tip I did not hear here Flying away from you, always try and fly against the wind, so if your battery gets low, it can return with the wind, using less battery power. Many drones got lost because of flying home against the wind and running out of power

Very informative. You could also have added that sports mode is also a good/efficient way to get to where you want to film quickly. Ian

Yeah, in Sport mode, the Sparks speed is rather impressive. Not a "racing drone", of course.

Good tips, thank you! If one can afford it, extra batteries are a must. I have 3... one for scouting, the second for shooting, and a third for extra-shooting and reserve. But, I understand not everyone has an extra $50 per extra battery, so your tip of scouting by walking around is certainly valid. Took me a month and a half to get 2 extra batteries without messing with bills at home, so I understand the expense. I also purchased a "parallel charger", specifically designed for the Spark, and it's a god-send. It's heavy-duty, and up to 4 batteries can be charged simultaneously, unlike the dji 3-bay charger which does it "sequentially", one-at-a-time. One other thing about LiPo batteries... for longevity you should let them cool-down before charging. Rule-of-thumb is to cool-down as long as the battery was flown before charging again. LiPo batteries don't like charging while hot, and they get hot during flight. Additional tip... use LiPo bags. They're cheap on Amazon and will help protect your batteries and surroundings in your bag. Charge your controller to 100% before each flight... the controller needs a full charge to send-off and receive it's best signals and video streams. There is more, but will leave it at that for now.... Great vid!!!!

Hi Mike, Thanks 👍👍👍 I was thinking of burning to a DVD or the memory stick, but was concerned with stuff like 4K what would you burn that too? Maybe what you’re doing is probably the best way forward !

Oh yeah, although you are never 100% safe with external drives, this is my go-to option for now. You're right, a memory stick or a flash drive won't cut it if you have plenty of large files :)

Hey Mike! Great tips and great channel, I finally had the time to stop by. I will be visiting more. For me it's a toss up between tip #1 and tip #4. Planning makes a big difference. Flying around hoping to find something good usually results in me going home with drained batteries and generally disappointed. And, yeah, you're right, leave that camera rolling. I don't know how many times I have kicked myself for missing something great. Nice work, keep it up!

I bought a Spark a month or so ago on my travels in Malaysia, intending on using it to up my travel vlogs. It’s my first drone and I’ve been so frustrated that I haven’t been able to use it yet…..There was nowhere suitable in Vietnam (a no fly zone anyway apparently) and now I’m in Thailand and unbeknown to me, the laws were changed, so just last week it came in to effect that your drone must be registered with the Thai aviation authorities. If not and you’re caught flying it, you face jail or a substantial fine. So tempting to use it anyway under the cover of the vast countryside but the risk of the penalty is a huge worry!
@DroneSupremacy7 жыл бұрын
Oh damn, that does not sound good at all. It sucks that the laws are becoming more and more strict, but also understandable at the same time, seeing how much drone sales have increased recently. Thailand from above must be absolutely epic, why don't you try to register it temporary (if that's an option)? Happy traveling, buddy :)
@TheWanderLife7 жыл бұрын
Yea I need to look in to registering it because I’m missing so many epic shots. Yea totally..especially when people are stupid enough to encroach on the wrong airspace etc. Thanks mate, keep the vids coming :)

Great tips! I just wish DJI will release some sort of "enhanced" battery version for the Spark in the near future to increase overall flight time. It'd bring the Spark to the next level. Of course a way around this is to have multiple batteries ready but then you'd have to land it back each time you need to change it.
@DroneSupremacy6 жыл бұрын
I agree, but I don't think that's going to happen unfortunately. I think we can probably see an increased flight time in the Spark2.
@robopam6 жыл бұрын
It's just like rockets. You need more power to lift more fuel to have more power.

All of your five tips taken on board! Makes sense to plan ahead of take off to save precious battery times! One question I would like to ask as I don’t think that any vlogger has explained yet is! How do you guys save/ burn/ store all of your recordings for future entertainment ??? With that and colour grading and editing would make a nice interesting video for us! Thanks and keep up all the good that you do. 👍👍👍
@DroneSupremacy7 жыл бұрын
Thanks David! I keep ALL of my drone footage, edited and non-edited, so I can access it any time for whatever I might need it. I just use an external drive which is quite packed with all of my shots, and i plan to continue to save everything, i just might need a bigger storage :)

I would think if you use sport mode to get back faster. You're using more battery power and not saving anything. The props are turning faster, therefore, using more power,=. Just saying.
@robopam6 жыл бұрын
It's actually a lift vs. Thrust equation. Its actually more efficient to head back in sport. I'm not sure what the exact mph is but I haven't seen anyone do the math yet.
@kdub6076 жыл бұрын
Agreed, great tips and useful information for capturing good video. I'm surprised you only have 2 batteries. That would probably be on my tip list (or your tip 6) - for beach fronts or anywhere that has beautiful scenery, don't go out with less than 3 batteries. 2 batteries or 20 minutes of flight time is not enough. For the great shots you took in this video alone, one more flight (that extra battery) may have captured that object you just discovered...when your batteries exhausted. I fly both the Spark and the Mavic Pro, so the Mavic with about 25 minutes of flight time gives me lots of enjoyment. Speaking of which, I enjoy your channel and your tips, as well as your footage - please keep them coming!

Battery life is affected by some condition. Temperature,, colder means shorter life. Speed,, speeding will consume more. Wind,, a lot of wind can make drone struggle,, it will consume more power. Of course if weather is clear, not cold, less wind, and be slow you can achive more flight time.
@reconnaissancesquadron2226 жыл бұрын
Prove it! Maybe it will hover in a moderately warm barn for 17 minutes but if you fly it around outside and don't try to force every last second in the air fighting the automatic landing function most of your flights will be less than 15 minutes. I once registered 16 minutes when my son was flying it mostly just playing with camera settings and then he landed at 6% battery (NOT GOOD!). Most of my full-length flight durations are between 11 and 15 minutes. It is fair to say that you will get 12 minutes out of it, it is unfair and unreasonable to suggest you will get 17 out of it. You won't unless you make a superhuman effort to get everything perfect.
