Its great seeing someone less experienced with Dominions making guides! You have an approachable style and show that you can have tons of fun without needing to min-max constantly.

Well I can see that the longer you play the more gauges and optimizations are apparent and approachable right from the get go. The wonderful thing about this game that it's a ton of fun way BEFORE you have reached that godlike optimization status.

@@Ic0nGaming It is a game that can cause paralysis of choice, that's for sure. I have probably done a dozen different pretender designs for MA Man for an MP game with a few friends that should be starting this weekend. Man got a massive buff. Knights of Avelon got a sacred tag plus the Glamour stuff turns them into a real contender for the middle age. Was not originally anticipating having to put together a bless when I picked the nation before release. It looks like Na'Ba got reigned in a bit. They used to be pretty tough to counter under a lot of circumstances... But glamour is pretty potent too, and Air fills a lot of Glamour gaps. I'm interested in seeing how you end up playing the nation. PS I might recommend aiming for a few of Na'Ba's national summons. They can get pretty wild.

@@imperialus1 I never played Dom 5 too much, so it's all pretty new to me. Thanks for filling me in! And yeah, the Pretender frames are massive. I ended up with three different frames alone for preparing this series. And it's so much fun! And yeah, the national summons are fully on my roadmap. I did specifically skill my Pretender up so that he can summon the Blood Magic Summons that need B1 and F3. These dudes are really powerful and in my experimentation runs I derped to prep up the Pretender accordingly cause Blood is no native access. Looking forward to experiment with the Conjurations as well! Decided to go into the whole buff/heat spell gameplay first though in episode 2. Bring out the big summons later when training myself up for the lategame or so the plan goes.

Loving all the coverage for dom6 finally bought in this time around. I've been looking for videos like this to understand how many researchers and troops I'm supposed to be training. Hope to see more soon!

Working on it! I think I'm hardly optimizing enough here, but I think it should serve as a foundation to work with.

Side note: for singleplayer i recommend turning on Story Events in the settings.

Damn, did I forget for this run? I usually turn it on.

@Ic0nGaming it's usually off by default, but I could have missed it when you started the game

Naba is my current main nation as I explore Dominions 6 too. Great to see someone else playing it. Love the leaders, miss air 4 on the Malikah :)

Your camelry didn't attack because they sneak by default. You gotta set them to move and attack. Your ranged units charged ahead because they were too far back. The infantry looked like they were too, but they got to the front in time. You expressed concern about the mages point buffing the wrong troops. Perhaps line the infantry up front, put the mages just behind them, and the ranged units in the rear? I _think_ mages prioritize what's in front of them. Hopefully there'll be more experienced players who'll correct or corroborate my suggestion.
@Ic0nGaming10 ай бұрын
Well the main issue here is that the archers currently employed are undisciplined and always charge forward, no matter what I do. Usually you put your infantry/archers in proper lines and pepper them with mages to point buff them afaik. But these little guys just don't wanna listen ^^
@TheGallantDrake10 ай бұрын
I believe that mages prioritized by HP density per square in Dom5, don't know if that's changed in 6. I've definitely seen mages buff behind themselves tho

Have stealthy dudes sneak instead of attack, classic mistake.

@@Ic0nGaming One thing to keep in mind is that your archers can actually make a pretty good screen for your other troops. They can actually punch pretty hard with their scimitars when they connect and they are so cheap they make perfect lance catchers and give enemy archers something to shoot at rather thank risking your mirror images. Try deploying a line of them ahead of your main troops on fire and keep distance. It might take a bit of finagling with positioning, but if you place them far enough ahead of your giant troops that they can reliably retreat behind the main formation before contact gets made with other infantry while at the same time making sure they get caught by fast shock troops like Cav then... well better some random nomad takes a lance to the face than a Djinn.

Na'Ba is an interesting faction. The loss of national access to A4 is going to sting though.
@Ic0nGaming10 ай бұрын
Do you refer to changes in Domi 6 or because I didn't build a pretender with A4? ^^ Love Na'Ba so far, very interesting experience. Only played them yesterday a couple of turns to learn what I'm doing.

Changes in 6. Previously, Malikah had Fire 3 Air 3 Earth 1, with a 110% chance of Fire, Air, Earth, Astral, or Nature. vs their current F3A2G2 +110% FAESNG

A4 national access refers to having recruitable mages with Air 4 for some major combat spells
