@@TheInselaffen Hardcourt is Novak's strongest surface. Sinner lost with Alcaraz in the US open. lol Trust me Sinner will be destroyed by Alcaraz in the long run. Just look at their head to head and their matches in grand slams, it is the same pattern of Agassi vs Sampras.

I would think he wanted Lendl as a coach really but most probably Lendl turned it down. Lendl has the experience, resilient technics and expertise strategy Novak can employ. So who else to go to but Andy? Lendl coached Andy to three GS titles. What can Andy offer? Most probably second-handed knowledge imparted from Lendl. Anyway, with this collaboration with Andy, he's not going to beat the likes of young Sinner or Alcaraz. The reality sinks in, Novak is not young anymore, can't teach an old dog new tricks, hehe...

Novak beat top form Alcaraz last year. Novak can transform into his best form any time he wants. He only needs to deal with Sinner, who beat Novak at his own game - "baseline grinding". This caused major confidence crisis for Novak. Novak's baseline consistency is the corner stone for his winning records against Federer and Nadal and the source of his confidency. But Sinner raised his baseline game to another level, it is hard to penetrate and yet can trigger a punch at any time.
