Interesting, 5th case - when you call. I thought that you people in Serbia have not used it much anymore. For those with no noun cases: Novak, when I call you, as I just learnt, Novac'e in Serbian. In Czech it would by Nova'ku.
@sasaeric581310 күн бұрын
@@jiritichy7967We use it regularly. Every noun has a vocative (5th case) form that must be used. For some nouns the fifth case is equivalent to the first one, so maybe that is why you were wondering if we still used it. Yeah, we do and nothing has changed. It was never a thing of one’s preference - you just use a word in a form it’s meant to be used in given context. :)

@LuLu-nw6biАй бұрын
@@Ljiljcik So many people live in Spain with knowing Spanish lol Yes, he lived in those two places, and elsewhere. It takes a year the most for an average person to learn the language by living in the country, and he has spent more than that period of time there in the past half a decade. He tried to learned it before spending more time there, and failed. But he knows how to learn a language from his experience- by spending the time in the environment where the language is spoken, which was the case for him learning all the languages he speaks. So again, nothing surprising for a person who has lived in Spain, especially if they for some reason have a desire to learn new languages all the time.
@LjiljcikАй бұрын
@@LuLu-nw6bi I agree that living in an environment makes it much easier to learn a language. However, it doesn't guarantee that one would necessarily do it. If you lived in a country with a large number of immigrants, you would know that there are many of them who don't speak the language even after living there for decades. Particularly these days, when English language is widely spoken. So no, I don't agree that it is enough to live in the environment in order to learn a language. Look at tennis players who live for years in Monaco. There are so many. How many of them speak French? One must have both will and ability, which Novak obviously has.
@LuLu-nw6biАй бұрын
@@Ljiljcik Nobody was talking about "guarantees", the simple point was that it is not in any way "surprising" that someone who has been living in the country now speaks the language. By "enough" I meant enough time for you to do it - if you are interested in doing it. As for will and ability, any average person has the ability, as I said, and Djokovic of course has the desire, as I also said (languages are his hobby, he said that himself).
@LjiljcikАй бұрын
@LuLu-nw6bi Again, we have to agree to disagree. I don't accept that "he has been living" in Spain. He has been staying there and he might intend to spend more time there one day, but there are only two countries he has lived in - Serbia and Monaco. Also, as a language teacher, I know that is not enough to live in a country in order to speak a language. Not at all. Novak has a special interest and ability not given to everyone. Do you speak any language other than English? Have you ever lived in a country where you had to speak a different language? I doubt it. Otherwise you would've known that it is far from enough to be exposed to a language, in order to speak it even a moderately well.
