To me, this was, with the 2008 Wimbledon final, the greatest final, ever. Plus, very few players could play that level (so much running and powerful ball strikes) during 6h...Respect and thank you gentlemen.

This, wimbledon 08 and 19. Funny how these three involve all three of them against each other

Wimbledon 08 is and will always be the greatest tennis match of all time. This is just the longest. Quality from Rafa in the third set was poor and Novak had a poor end of the fourth, start to the fifth.

@@brodssn I agree. This match was just really physical. The ratio for winners to unforced errors was better in Wimbledon 08 & 19.

44:03 - the point you'll never see on flashy "bEsT tOp 100 pOiNtS" but the quality is just something else. Almost 6 hours of play and they produce something like that. This point gives you an understanding WHAT kind of match it was better than any other point in the match IMO.

I don't like to criticize Rafa as his fan but for this match he deserves some criticism. There is no excuse for him to miss that easy backhand at 4-2 30-15 in the 5th set and this is one of the very few matches you can say Rafa choked.
@DoubleOhTheG23 күн бұрын
@@patcisz3474 I completely agree. There's not a doubt in my mind that he wins this match if he makes that backhand
@patcisz347423 күн бұрын
@DoubleOhTheG Yes, he would've won the match. Being up 40-15 would've been much less pressure than a 30-30 score on his serve at that point in the match. Also, this match actually had huge implications on history as now we know Djokovic has 24 slams and it is going to be very difficult for him to win another and Nadal retired with 22. If Nadal won this match they would both be tied at 23 slams right now.
@jamesvanoirschot12199 күн бұрын
Equally Djokovic missed an easy volley at 5-4 in the fourth set tie break which would have given him match point
@patcisz34749 күн бұрын
@@jamesvanoirschot1219 That was not nearly the same. The shot Djokovic missed was a very low ball close to the net which is difficult to hit and even if Djokovic got it over Nadal would've been there for an easy passing shot down the line. Nadal's miss was straight up an easy backhand winner with plenty of space and Djokovic had given up on the point.

clearly differences in djokovic serve and volley skills here, he was fear to go to the net and finish points quickly, novak has the game to finsih this match in 4 sets, but the lack of great net game and get free points give chances to nadal to take to 5 sets, Djokovic almost lose this final and nadal take advantage of djokovic weakness part of his game
@BardhanProductions25 күн бұрын
You gotta hit angles from the baseline though to create net opportunities. Which was neutralized by both guys being on fire from the baseline. Court coverage + ground game from the baseline left little opportunity for net play
@patcisz347423 күн бұрын
@BardhanProductions Back then Nadal and Djokovic were the best baseline players in tennis history and they had incredible court coverage which was obviously going to make it almost impossible for either one of them to come to the net.
