Holy fuckoli, I think I’m legitimately jealous. My first field exercise involved sleeping in a hasty fighting position with a poncho propped up by my rifle as it rained. Still, enjoying the videos, it’s always neat to see how other folks do things.

Thanks for the comment, sounds like you had a rough time. Don't worry, the recruits do not get it easy. However they do get shown how to do everything first. The instructors educate and demonstrate, then when the course starts to advance the recruits are expected to implement and execute. Glad you're enjoying the videos!

I am actually surprised Basic Training in the British Army is so long. I made a comment on I believe the 1st week video, about how much more "polite" British Army PTIs are compared to American Drill Sergeants. It's probably because BCT in the US Army is much shorter, and we Americans are, from the British perspective, "very loud" to begin with. The US Marine DIs are even louder and their Boot Camp is longer. It's a difference in training styles.
@djrxp4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment - how long is basic training in the US?
@mr.k.i.s.s74964 жыл бұрын
@@djrxp Depending on Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) the Average is about 10 weeks. The US Army then sends you to Advanced Individual Training (AIT) which can last from 4 to 52 weeks depending on MOS. Infantry, Cavalry Scouts, Combat Engineers, CRBN (Chemical, Radiological, Biological, Nuclear) Specialist (used to be called NBC), and Military Police do One Station Unit Training (OSUT) which combines Basic and AIT into one Training Cycle. Then there are the Special Courses such as Airborne, Air Assault, and Ranger School (which is separate from the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program RASP, which is selection for the Regiment).

Need to do it for a few reasons: appearance (meaning you look like a soldier), Getting a good seal on your "gas" mask, makes it easier to shave out of the field (the thicker your facial hair growth the harder it is to shave off later), and it's much easier to spread your face camouflage cream/stick.
