That last one is eerily reminiscent of the Daddyof5 abuse. Children living under abuse of the parent who uses social media for their fame/profit, and it is only through said social media do they get caught. I watched the main video that brought those "pranks" into the limelight, and had panic in my stomach the entire time they were screeching at their youngest child. I can only imagine how bad the verbal abuse got in this case if you decided not to include it-seriously. Whoever screams at a child like that as though it were normal needs to get screamed at until they go deaf. Thank you for NOT including the footage and simply talking about it instead. It's a horrible and legitimately distressing topic, and I wish others handled it in the same manner.

I've been following Daniel Perez's story since the beginning of this year, and boy has it been crazy. Currently, he's missed some court dates and may be on the run. He's plead Not Guilty to every charge he's received this year, so his trials (yes, multiple trials) will likely occur early next year for the child abuse case and probably mid to late next year for the multiple burglaries. There's overwhelming evidence against him on basically every charge, so I don't see any trial going in his favor. Anyway, great video! Glad you covered this bizarre story!

Good god, the one time streaming actually saved lives. Who knows how long those kids would have lasted in those conditions-no running water for 6 months??? That was one of the parts that I re-wrote! It's fine building suspense when scripting stuff like this but I honestly wanted to let the viewer (you) know that the kids were found ASAP otherwise id feel a little scummy myself for exaggerating facts :P

So far as Upstart goes, some blame seems to fall on both parties as the creators did cheat kickstarter rules. However we now have the creators on one side having made good on their promises at their own expense and a marketing company on the other side who can't quite bring themselves to turn over money they have no legal claim to. In fact, while they seem to have solid reasons for having *wanted* to hold on to the money when they received it, they represented to the creators that they were receiving it as agents on their behalf, which means they never had any legal claim to it. Also these supposed tax obligations only arise *because* they illegally stole it and converted it to income for themselves rather than passing it along. Even if they were worried they might need to pay it back that gives them no right to retain the money (that is something they should settle through contract with the creators). Even if it violated all manner of kickstarter policy for the marketing company to accept the money in the first place, even if it was outright illegal, that still gives *them* no right to it vis-a-vis the people whose kickstarter it was. They are just thieves who have brazenly committed the tort of conversion and if they get away with it it will only be because the amount is not enough for the other side to hire lawyers over.

I followed the game of thrones card game from the first kickstarter. The streams were about 5 months old. We were doing what the internet does best, getting to tone bottom of a shady situation. No one actually knew what we had, on the guys youtube channel we found all of these hilariously bad videos he had made for his Jewellery store. (Him and wife had around a dozen super shady small businesses, everything from graphic design to swap shops, and tutoring) anyways the same account had probably a dozen old streams on it but each one was 10+ hours long. Someone decided to comb through one and and see what was in it, out of morbid curiosity I'm sure, no one knew at this point how dark it would get. But then bam. Child abuse. We all thought he was just some guy with a mental illness who didnt truly get what he was doing was wrong, until that video. It took kickstarter 30 mins to figure.out where he lived, we had people in probably a dozen different countries calling local police departments and child protective agencies in the Milford area making complaints and linking the video myself included. Perez took down the first video, thankfully someone had already saved it, but the idiot didnt think to remove any of the other videos. We went through them, listening to over 40 hours of pure awfulness and found the rest of the clips. What's online isnt even all of it. Just some of it. One of the sadest things, outside of all of the screaming and hitting is the fact he sat in thesame room as the babies for sometimes 8 hours and didnt utter a word to them except when he would scream at them. He wouldn't take breaks to feed them, did not change their diapers. They just existed in a word of silent neglect until something they did set him off. I'll never unhear that shit.

I have to say as someone who was a caretaker for two infant girls for a couple years that I can understand that infants and toddlers can be incredibly frustrating, but it is beyond my imagination for someone to abuse them. The kids are apparently in the care of the maternal grandmother. Hopefully a better situation. Still.too close to those monsters though. I hate to assume that they would also be bad people, but at the very least it makes it likely that the mom has access to the kids still

PR agency deserves the negative reception & hate they received from the public; as they stepped outside the proper business boundaries of a PR Agency and started to act like a financial advisor agency instead. A PR Agency acting like a financial agency is super illegal and unethical, especially considering you need certain licensing & approval from the government in order to do that kind of business in most countries (This is usually done to help regulate & reduce financial crimes to EXCLUSIVELY financial professionals that have money ethics training). The PR Agency should never have agreed to accept the kickstarter money (as the money legally belongs to the owners of the board game through kickstarter) and should have insisted that their employer company wait to receive the money from a bank account the company owners have full access to instead of the PR Agency. I honestly believe that the PR Agency deserves every criticism made and the loss of client trust considering they never surrendered the money over. The PR Agency committed a crime as soon as they registered the money as theirs (as the recipient of money legally needs to pay taxes on it) on their business' financial books/accounts as it is NOT the PR Agency money nor do they have the professional financial licensing to even accept money on their client's behalf. Only a set percentage is the PR Agency's legally and they are not entitled to full payment until AFTER everything regarding the game's promotion on social media is completed. DELIBERATELY choosing (and it was the PR Agency's choice to ignore their employer's attempts at communication with them) to not release the kickstarter money to the board game creators upon request IMMEDIATELY is theft, no if's, and's, or but's can be said about the PR Agency's shady dealings with their client's money.

In fairness to Pegasus, its white and black pieces on a chessboard. If they put the full rules up, people wouldn't need to buy the game... That said, the kickstarter was still a failure because of them. The goals and rewards were awful... and that's not going into the level of hostility they put forward that would make a Steam Greenlight shyster look good.

Marketing company keeping any of the money is a massive red flag. They should have contacted Kickstarter as soon as they received less than half of what they expected, and ask to return everything they received to Kickstarter, then do whatever they usually do with failed projects.

Don't touch that dial, I have 2 deceitful dinosaur debacles for you to look at in future installations of kickscammers The mess that is Mesozoica would be an interesting story to tell. What started out as a glorious spiritual successor to Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis and Zoo Tycoon, ended up being a catastrophe caused by behind the scenes drama, accusations and the announcement of Jurassic World: Evolution if I remember correctly. They did release a product, but it's far from finished, racking up terrible reviews and dropping from a 30$ price tag to 99 cents. Also I'd appreciate it if you'd cover Primordial Profiles. I've been waiting years on my dinosaur jewelry and all I've been getting is excuses. Now forgive me if I don't remember them exactly, but trust me it was one thing after another. Finally we all get an announcement, he's being challenged over copyright by Black Hills Institute of Geological Research. If I'm not mistaken he promised he'd still send out the products regardless, but nothing really remains on kickstarter but a notice that says he's in legal trouble.

At 3:11 he's "borrowed" the character design but he's also clearly used an image of Peter Serafonwicz (spelling probably atrocious but you know who I mean) for the face

I think in the case of star trader, most of the art would be considered a 'derivative work' for the purposes of copyright, so Disney and D&D probably have no legal standing to sue.
