you had to put ALOT of time into this game to make it be more fun. its got the hint of old school RPG in it where you have to level your characters up to be able to compete on the late levels. i had no problem starting at the beginning every time i booted it up, cause i know i would need those few level ups i pick up along the way to where i last died, i may be ready to make it past them this time. but it was satisfying cause the combat system is so robust and satisfying. i consider this game gameplay wise to be one of the best beat em ups of all time..at least top 3

The movie is honestly a pretty bad adaptation of the comics (partly because they started production when they were only 2 volumes in for a 6 volume series, and a lot of where the story goes was still in flux). I appreciate a lot of the technical and cinematic aspects, but the storytelling is kind of flat. Without going into spoilers, the video game references are suddenly given a huge, tragic explanation in Vol. 6 of the comic, and the overall message is much deeper and relatable.
