My take on DK Yoo and his stuff is that it "works", in the way that parlor tricks and sleight of hand "work", which is what his stuff is, the martial arts equivalent of parlor tricks, with no applicability in a real fight. I'm willing to believe that maybe 1% of what he does is applicable, but I'm not sure what that is, and I doubt he does either, otherwise it would have come out under pressure during his first boxing match.

From what I've zeen of Yoo, a lot of it works, you'll see shoulder shrugs to short hooks, etc, all the time in boxing, very similar to what he does. The problem with him, is he's taking the tricks and ignoring the fundementals and saying you can win with just the tricks without knowing the set-ups, etc that can actually make them work, and tricking gullible folk out of their money. Also, he's a typical bullshido fighter that doesn't count any experience of failure, when real fighters embrace failures and grow from them.

People need to understand something here. It's BOXING. You are wearing 10 oz gloves! Those are paddings. They are not meant to kill people. They are hard pillows. Still hurts, but you're supposed to take shots and trade over a long bout. It's about stamina, and it's about technique to build up points over the long haul. So of course DK YOO would suck it at compared to one of the greatest boxers of all time Pacquiao. For a guy who has no experience boxing, DK YOO did alright. It was stamina that he couldn't keep up like Conor McGregor...stamina is always the killer in boxing for inexperienced fighters. Boxing stamina is DIFFERENT than street fighting stamina. Street fighting lasts 30 seconds to 1 minute on average. It only takes 1 or 2 punches to end a fight in street fighting. Boxing is about long distance fighting. People think McGregor sucks cuz he lost a boxing match to floyd? But they don't realize Conor could whoop your ass in a street fight and probably Mayweather too. Pacquiao is too good technically in boxing. He could probably do well in a bare knuckle fight too. DK YOO could probably beat the shit out of you but on screen when he's testing himself against the greatest boxer of our time, of course he's going to look bad. It doesn't mean he's a fraud. In my opinion, DK Yoo should popularize some aspects of self defence that might surprise an attacker in the street. I mean ; make a quick, unexpected move and ... run away. If he really wants to fight with real martial arts champions or boxers, he will have to change his way of seeing martial arts in a real combat. Otherwise, this young man is deceiving himself and his fans ( because he's got his fans in South Korea ) - it might be dangerous, because one day, he may face a real aggressive opponent who can break him something. To be quite frank, I must admit that DK YOO is even ambitious and he wants to prove something that unfortunately, is uneffective in a real, professional fight, but ha has to change a lot. In fact what he demonstrates in his shows is nothing new - i would even claim that sometimes it's just a using the pronciples of phisics in action. Bruce Lee - due to his low weight and mass - did the same. But Bruce was a realist, and in a real fight he did the things which were effective, realistis and tested. Yoo, with a stubbornness of a maniac, promotes something that seems to be useless in a professional MMA fights. If he wants to learn anything fom such a champion as Manny Paquiao, he should do it in private. Private lessons with masters - maybe that's the way for him to be a warrior in the future. I've known him for a few years, and to be quite honest - if he really cheats people - he also cheated me. At the beginning, I was one of those who thought that his style was really cool. I mean, it catches the eye, it looks fast and practical but .... reality verified my impressions. Good luck !

1:19 "some fucking reason" = easy cash grab Yea, these exhibition boxing matches with non-boxers are all entirely predictable now. But, they still continue because they are such easy moneymakers for both parties... The boxer has nothing to lose, because he can toy with a n00b even as he's semi-retired. So, easy work for big bucks. While the non-boxer can also make a huge payday fighting a marquee name that he otherwise would have no chance in hell of making on his own.

I think he deserves to be called a fraud. When someone sells you BS martial arts technique they qualify as a fraud. He can't even punch properly inside the ring. All of a sudden the things he teach flies out of the window. But kudos for raising money for the Itaewon victims, at least we can say the guy has a heart.

In my opinion, it is comparable to individuals who possess extensive knowledge of music theory but lack the innate ability or talent to play an instrument proficiently. DK is an enthusiast who is dedicated to his own pursuit. While there is validity to the theory he teaches, real life application presents a distinct challenge for him. And Thats OK.

This fight is a promotional stunt for the Asain community. It'll make a ton of money within that community. If DK Yoo and Manny makes money. Good for them! The thing about his teaching is that it works on an orchestrated act but in a real fight. It takes milliseconds to act fast and execute the move in order for it to work. It's really hard to predict the opponent's move before you can counter it and that's why he lost the fight to Manny. The fight between Manny and DK Yoo could be a living proof that Bruce Lee lost to Wong Jack Man because why wouldn't he accept a public fight? At least for DK Yoo who really admired Lee, he went into a public fight and accepted the humiliation that he lost to a boxer. I mean we all know that Manny is a great boxer but DK demonstrated multiple techniques that can take down people with easy fighting techniques.

He is just horrible! Part of Kung Fu is lots of sparring, different people, different styles, that way you can expose your weaknesses! His match showed that he never crossed fists with anyone. He could not even parry a simple punch. It is really sad, because of him and the many fake masters out there, it gives Chinese martial arts a bad name.

I watched the fight. DK Yoo lost to Pacquiao spectacularly by unanimous decision. Even knocked DK down a few times. The money collected from the match, according to Pacquiao, is being donated to victims of the Ukraine-Russia conflict and also some of it will go to impoverished Filipinos. All while making his return to the ring after a little more than a year

Like the Final Fantasy soundtrack you used- now hear me out-I wouldn’t go so far as to call DK a fraud as at least he actually got in the ring which is more than a lot of KZbin martial artists can say-and Manny friggin Pacquiao no less. That being said-DK’s boxing isnt even on golden gloves amateur level. Bradley Scott carried him and Pac almost finished him going easy on him too. And yes-he’s 0-2. Hey at least he has stories to tell his kids.
