Absolutely sparring is the most important aspect in learning a martial art. No better way to pressure test and to adapt the moves/techniques they have been drilling in your head to fit your body and natural tendencies. Awesome breakdown.

I like to change how I pronounce the X every single time it comes up, same with in Hunter X Hunter. My favorite ones so far are Spy By Family, Hunter Cross Hunter, Spy MULTIPLIED BY Family gets some good reactions, as does Hunter to the power of Two, or just calling it Hunter Squared. I do be a menace at cons.

Glad to see ya back! There's nothing wrong in focusing on your own development, so I hope that was fruitful. I'd love to visit Japan some day. Almost did a study abroad there with a buddy in college. We ended up going to the UK instead, which was also cool, so no regrets, haha. Lots of good stuff in the video, but having been raised a JKD kid, the specific points you mention where folks get "lost in the sauce" were pretty on point. :)

I grew up watching DBZ. It was my favorite show as a kid, and as an adult, I've watched it a lot. I also started studying JKD at age 13, so it too had a strong impact on my upbringing. I've taken genuine inspiration both from DBZ and from Bruce Lee, so it's cool to see someone making a video like this. Also, it's good to see another video from you. :) I look forward to whatever you come up with next.

First time seeing Ed in a video was him breathing in a pepper ball gun round in an Icy Mike video, and im like who the heck would do that, then I stumbled across his own channel and its been great. You're really great a presenting, the editing is good, fun subject matter, and the anime touch in the sounds and little things have been amazing. Keep up the awesome work!

100% agree with everything you say. When I was a kid my dad wanted to do a martial art. My great uncle ran a judo school and that was what my dad wanted me to do. During the 70’s and 80’s the UK had a few world and Olympic champions. However I was more interested in football (soccer to our USA friends). I was okay to good at this but it was what most kids did. Judo just never sparked my imagination. I told my dad I’d prefer karate. He just didn’t seem to be that enthusiastic about me doing karate. I also told him I wouldn’t mind giving boxing a go. He wasn’t that enthusiastic about me doing that either. However, I now believe that I would’ve been pretty good at boxing. I’m now 52 years old and three years ago I started doing a Korean martial art. My fitness, confidence and general well-being has improved massively. I no longer have backache. My overall strength has increased massively confidence is back to where it was 25 years ago. The sense of community is also a massive benefit. Basically, it is never too late to start something new.
