I didn’t like the debut of Super M, but I don’t get all the hate. People have been attacking them and saying some ugly things for no reason. “They do bundles” a lot of artists do that; “company just wants to make money”, name one company that doesn’t want to make money; “their song is bad”, every group has bad songs sometimes... everything is a problem: name of the song, the marketing strategy... people, chill! Look at what has happened this year. Words matter. Don’t hate on anyone and your own life will be better for it.

TS Entertainment needs to either stop existing or change their whole policy and their treatment of their artists. After the shit that happened with B. A. P people should have continued to keep their eyes on TS, since the amount of abuse they met should never be brushed under the carpet. And now they are doing this to kids... Kids. If the companies don't see the current events as a red flag and don't focus on the mental health of their artists then I think they are simply blind. We cannot afford any more loss. This is a wake up call for both the companies and the fans, we should support these artists when they are going through hard times. Instead of asking them when is the new comeback let's tell them to rest well and take care of their health, instead of forcing them to smile 24/7 let's tell them that they can open up with us, they can cry with us, that they are doing great and we are here to support them at every step. They are loved and they matter.

Many Aroha are sad that Moon Bin is too sick to join Astro's promotions this comeback but all would prefer him to get well rather than drag himself on stage, It's simple respect and love which is, after all, what aroha means in Maori. And just a few days before that him and Jeonghan had to sit out during one of their concerts. It's painful to see them dragging themselves for us the only thing that matters to us is their health and nothing else. I personally would like if he takes a break from everything for at least 2-3 months, no social media or fancafe, just focus completely on himself away from all. I too have anxiety and I had to take a break from uni but even though I was on break I was using my phone all the time, which didn't help me at all. That's why, I hope he spends this time with his family relaxing and doing other things he likes, I would rather have other members update us about his health than him, coz if he opens fancafe, fans will bombard him with comments and although all of those comments are encouraging it sort of puts a pressure on our mind to do better for the ppl who are waiting for him and that's exactly what he doesn't need right now. Let's just hope all the people who are on a hiatus and are injured get better soon. We'll patiently wait for their return.

ellie Yes, it does have something to do with Super M. BUT It’s not fair to say the issue started with Super M because it didn’t. Bundling has been an ongoing problem for a while. Actually, I feel like Super M just happened to bundle the way they did at the wrong time when there was already a microscope in bundling and they just really stood out. As soon as the bundling news came out about Super M, I knew they were going to take heat for it. In my opinion, the worst bundling I had ever heard of was Taylor Swift and she’s been doing it for years, but most media is not going to explicitly call her out like they will Super M.

Sarah A Actually, DJ Khalid was suing Billboard for bundling issues. The issue here is that it is not just one instance or one artist who initiated this change so it would be disingenuous to say the Super M situation didn’t play a role to some extent in the changes. But they didn’t cause the changes or force BB to gather around and create new rules, nahh that’s not the case. For everyone’s sake, I wish they weren’t linked to it at all but they are and it was really just bad timing on their part. They didn’t really do anything more than anyone else who excessively bundles did.

Charlie Ackles but the problem with Travis Scott was the fact that we was having Kylie Jenner at his shows looping in all her fans too so they will buy the bundles it was defiantly not fair. yeah I agree it doesn’t really make any sense for superm to have that kind of success especially over more well known K-POP groups like BTS or Blackpink I just genuinely don’t believe they have more fans than BTS for example.

The issues got worse after going world wide, stop putting all the blame on k nets. Its people trying to push taking rules down like trying to make dating normalized that have kept them healthy and safe. No dating isn't healthy for people in that sort of hectic lifestyle. This applies to idols, celebs, career oriented businessmen, etc. Its simply not healthy for people in that lifestyle especially since the entire relationship is based on red flags. I'm not gonna get into every reason because the list is quite big. YOU live a a regular life in comparison so YOU cando whatever you want essentially. Its so rare that relationships last at all within entertainment. Which makes it that much harders. "Look at pop they date and their still successful" Yeah, Successful doesn't mean healthy, most of those relationships aren't even real, whether its for attention or to use the person. Koreas system and industry is FAR busier than the wests. They say it A LOT they barely have time to practice after debut. But here comes international fans "let them do whatever they want, they should be allowed to do this and that and blah blah blah". That's part of the problem. In fact that majority of the problem. You idolize. Western society also lives on controversy. KOREA DOES NOT. Korea is not your culture its time for you to WAKE UP and take a seat. The bigger issues with mental health started happening AFTER it went worldwide. But hey, you just want to be a masiah and make everything like your romance movie, huh? Should we let idols run around and be unbearable garbage cans like arrianna and all these other tradh personalities? Imean people are putting kang daniel up on a pedestal after he's basically been proven to be just climbing a social ladder and using people. You wanna continue to take rules away that helps keep the idols healthy and lets the companies force more fake shit on them like fake relationships that happen more than not, then keep going. But I think you neet to wake up and stop using your feefees to govern facts.

International fans trying to force THEIR culture onto korea's industry, and the companies. International fans have this subliminal garbage thinking that kpop should cater to them. No, sit down, shut up and let Korea handle their industry, There's shit going on in your countries industry too that needs dealt with. there's a lot of shitty people in America's that's for damn sure. But naw, why get the trash people out when we can just westernize koreas industry so it's celebs are just as problematic and full of depression and suicidal thoughts because WE want them to do what we like and give us controversy and sweet sweet gossip.

Nah, they shouldn't be dating, friends sure, but not dating. Ya'll need to realise they can't do things "JUST LIKE US". as someone who lived in that sort of hectic lifestyle, I can tell you dating, narcotics of any kind, going out to where the public can see you and doing things like partying, is unhealthy. You need to understand that being human means that we have limitations. Your lifestyle allows for the extra stress of dating, partying, whatever. That's why we make sacrifices for things. They know what they're doing and getting into, they know they have to make sacrifices FOR THEIR HEALTH. This isn'ta romance or disney movie. true love doesn't save anyone. They have the friends around them in their members they trained with, their families, and the staff. YOU are the ones treating them like robots. Do you not realise they barely have time to practice? That's how stressful it is. I think you need to figure oit out fast, because overloading someone who's already that stressed is a good way to get someone to kill themselves. Dating doesn't solve problems, as a matter of fact theres a lot of cases where people are recommended to not date. Guess what... Hectic, stressful, and busy lifestyles is one of those. This includes, but is not limited too, College students around finals or big exams, career oriented businessmen, busy celebs, People frequently in the public eye, people with a busy/hectic/stressful lifestyles, etc. Yeah there's more. and idols fall under a few of those. Wanna take a guess at a big reason for suicides and the development of depression? If you guessed stress and popularity, congratulations! Note: I am an ELF. Dear David, I really like you, just not this episode. Danny has more common sense. Chinese Netizens (not necessarily C-ELFs) talking about 良心 (conscience) when their own people operate businesses that does chart manipulation - talk about HYPOCRISY ! Siwon’s situation is: It might not help if he apologizes, but it WILL HARM if he doesn’t. Anyone who insist that he stand his ground & not apologize is rather ignorant (sorry for being harsh) - Siwon doesn’t do a lot of variety shows (mostly SJ-related) coz he probably doesn’t need the money. But he can’t be selfish, there is SJ & Label SJ - not every of his teammates are loaded. Hindsight is 20/20, if Siwon knew this resulting muck, of course he wouldn’t want to create it in the first place - he’s neither stupid nor antagonistic ~ just … perhaps temporary insanity during that split second he pressed the damn “Like”. I wonder if those Knetz even know what the HK protest is about before they give their dumb opinions. If I tell them the problem started way back in 1997, these idiot Knetz won’t know what I’m talking about. The one about the muzzle is a CHEAP SHOT at best. It’s not the bite but sepsis which killed the lady & it could have happened during medical treatment. And now Siwon is in a Catch-22 (or maybe Catch-33 w/ CN + HK + KR all targeting him) position & I sympathize very much b’coz I know he is really a kind & humble person. Some will say he brought this upon himself, but that’s just being cruel. Genuine ELFs are the ones hurting & feeling sad for the stress they are experiencing. We are appreciative of the laughter or entertainment they gifted us & wish we could help mitigate it. Many of us are glad the recent AAA gave them a little mood-booster amidst the gloomy situation. Most C-ELFs have cooled down & made their decisions on how to continue their relationship with SJ. It’s really those toxic non-fans that are still stirring the hornet’s nest!

Billboard was already planning to change the rules before SuperM debuted. There has been rumblings in the industry for a while--SuperM was just the most egregious artist to take advantage of the system. Also, RIP to everyone if BTS decides to bundle. They did it once for their Citifield concert (concert bundles have to be redeemed and usually only result in a 1/4 increase of the concert venue size; so even without, they still would have gotten their #1). Have to adamantly disagree with David here. Bundling is a form of chart manipulation and cheating. Cheating is wrong, and when you identify something that has gotten out of hand, you SHOULD put rules in place to change the system. This will always be an ongoing process as when new rules/regulations are made, people will try to find a way around those rules. It is an endless cycle with rules having to constantly change based on the times, but to say that bundling is "not wrong because everyone does it" is like saying cheating in class or evading taxes is fine because lots of people do it. If it's wrong, it's wrong.

I called him out on it and he served me a long-ass argument about no one caring about chart position anyway, or whatnot lol. Obviously lots of people do care, and what’s wrong is wrong. Basically superM or maybe any big kpop name can do no wrong in his eyes, and he will never plain out said it aloud on this channel. They joked about SM watching this, but they are probably truly scared shitless about saying anything bluntly negative about any of the groups. Danny doesnt give a fuck but David will for sure go with the diplomatic correct opinion lol.

It’s true. and I like the *“RIP TO EVERYONE IF BTS DECIDES TO BUNDLE”.* If BTS do bundles, it’s going to be x2 or even more sales, esp with a buy now pay later option Lol it just shows that BTS don’t need bundles to sell their albums, coz according to billboard BTS are one of the RAREST acts to hit no. 1 spot in BB without any bundles. They managed to sell 230k copies when MOTS persona was released, even bigger than those artist who did 60 bundles with a buy now pay later plan. 😌 And the citifield bundle was just an option, and the album was bundled with the tickets was Love yourself ANSWER, which released last year (2018) not the newly released album PERSONA. And citifield happened last October 2019 and was sold out in 120minutes lol and whats more amazing was Wembley stadium was sold out in 90mins, that is 90k seats in 90 freakin minutes! And that is without bundles.. and the rest of their stadium concerts also no bundles😊 and every album released, no bundles. BTS plays it fair and square. 💯 According to chartmasters.org BTS is the most successful kpop act to debut for selling 40.7M copies worldwide since debut. The second is TVXQ which only sold around 12M, but TVXQ is already around 15th yr in the industry while BTS is only on their 7th year this year.

SuperM sold out Madison Square Garden; on consideration that part of the arena is sectioned off for the actual stage, but nonetheless still sold it out as even stated by MSG themselves. As for the bundling, like you guys have said in your previous video on them- tons of artists have been doing it for decades. It's within the rules and yes has been getting out of hand in recent years but still within the rules nonetheless so this change was gonna happen with or without SuperM as they're not even the ones using them that ridiculously compared to what some others are bundling their albums with. These rules also would not have really affected or taken away from their Billboard achievements if you read it thoroughly. "boosted their sales a lot" ; bundles were only like 2%. Antis and toxic armpits keep assuming bundling = 'low demand with bulk buying by the few' but fans would pay to get everything nonetheless in bulk with or without bundles.

$3.49 was chosen as the price difference because that's the minimum price an album must cost to qualify for the Billboard charts. They can't require an $8 difference if an artist's album on it's own only costs $3.49. I do think that the changes Billboard made will make a little bit of a difference because now customers have to actually redeem the album for the bundle to count as an album sale. But there isn't much more Billboard can do unless they ban bundling altogether

Just join the negative aspect of western artists greed to get to the top at whatever means. Those charts should be about music & not t-shits, jaclkets, any freakin clothing or drinks, food & then even bigger being associated with concert tickets. Anything to rake up the numbers. It's a rip to artists that are not known so they get overlooked for the boost merch gives well known artists. The ranking means a great deal to artists & their careers. Why do people keep saying this year that “this is the first KPop group to perform here” and in a lot of cases (like SuperM at Madison Square Garden) its a lie! A few years ago, I went to MSG to see a Kpop group. Why can’t people get the facts right?

MSG itself praised SuperM on twitter saying that they were the first kpop group to perform there. A sold out concert. I know that SM Town had a concert at MSG in 2011 and many SM groups performed. Maybe you saw other kpop groups concerts at MSG theater (theater # arena).

I get what you mean about the bundling, but when it comes down to it why should anything else but the music sales itself count towards the chart? It’s pretty silly that merch is part of the discussion of music sales

There is also past generational trauma that hasn't been emotionally processed or acknowledged from previous wars and occupations, destruction and abuse, economic depressions and vast poverty. It is not just the current culture that exist in Korea that is poor understanding, and treatment of mental health. The cultural and societal treatment of mental health is still significantly formed and perpetuated by older generations. They often have not processed or even been given the tools to process and understand emotions. Their experiences usually didn't give them the opportunity or privilege to take the time to do so. It is taboo in many of their minds and they get painfully defensive when pushed at times. The social rules at times seem like coping methods to have security in expectations, something that they consistently didn't exist all the time. The experiences had by previous generations breed emotional turmoil that can manifest in different ways and trigger specific stress/depression/anxiety related DNA in children at much higher rates. I have hope that at some point SK will have the vocabulary, openness, and willingness to have an educational campaign about mental health and give people the resources to grow resilient in a healthy way. Like using CBT and DBT, mindfulness and rest more.

1. I question how sincere K-nets are when a celeb takes their life yet the same bad habits continue every time a scandal comes out 2. Saying bundling doesn't matter is unfair to many successful artists who DON'T bundle because they don't want their success to be questioned. SM chose to follow those who bundle and are questioned for it knowing they would be too. Any criticism they get for superm is brought on themselves and is deserved.

Here we go again... Capitol Records is the company responsable to mannage SuperM's career in US, not SM. SuperM would reached #1 at BB200 even without the bundles thing, which was only 2% of their sales. ALL american artists do bundles. Miley Cyrus sells condons+digital album. Taylor sold pizza + digital album few years ago and has a lot of bundled itens selling in her site...

I watched a vid by North Korean defectors and they said in NK everyone looks out for each other and is supportive so they are often personally happier (although there is the risk of food shortages or spying etc) they said South Koreans were so driven and seemed sadder and less friendly. I thought this was a good microcosm of how the world has changed, when times are tough we band together ,but when we are overly focused on our personal achievements and getting ahead out values shift and we are less caring. When I was in SK people were friendly, but when I saw a young woman crying and being very upset on the subway no one approached her to check and see if she was ok. In my country I would have talked to her, but as I do not speak Korean and was not sure I didn't but I regret it every time I think of her.

Do u happen to have a link for that video? I'd like to see it since it sounds interesting. And a lot of what you said is true. I've talked to some people from SK and I asked them why they're so closed off, and a lot of them said is to maintain face which means that they care deeply what strangers think of them and they suppress their emotions to keep face. This leads them to bottle up everything and also to unhealthy coping mechanisms. Anything seen as weak is bad. Also they're raise from a young age that everyone is competition because apparently the only way to be successful is to be number 1.

@No Name I know Siwon's family is rich which is why I would've liked if he stood his ground and also especially since he's a part of UN (UNICEF I think). I understand the this would've affected his group members but I noticed that when the time needs ELFs always betrays and SUJU members are most of the time quite. So much for being "Everlasting friends". As for Tzuyu's family, they probably don't care what happens to others and would prefer that money keeps on coming into their household. I'm not hating them. Most families are like that, they'd compromise humanity over their hungry family members (lol but I doubt they're that poor at this point but hope you get my point)

There's a couple of sports/concert venues in the US that are called "gardens." The two oldest are Madison Square Garden in NYC and Boston Garden in (unsurprisingly) Boston. Some people think it's because the arenas used to be open at the top, but that's not really it. The original meaning for "garden" was a large meeting place for entertainment (it's a combination of French and German) It could be open air (like a beer garden) or it could be a big hall for concerts and exhibitions. The French began using it to describe outdoor spaces filled with flowers and bandstands. The English began using it to describe small places for private use. Madison Square and the Boston Garden were designed to be for multi-purpose large scale events so they were called "gardens" in the old world European sense. And I'm not surprised that SuperM got booked at Madison Square, they are backed by one of the largest music labels in America. I'm not saying it's not an accomplishment, but I think it's more of an accomplishment for K-pop in general that this partnership with SM occurred. It's a sign of how global the South Korean music industry has become, which is awesome.

It bothers me that money means more to artists and their companies, than what is clearly right. Siwon works with UNICEF and it feels hypocritical to be bowing down to brainwashed Chinese fans. International fans understand some situations can be hard, especially for new artists and those with familial links China, but Siwon is personally very secure and stepping back from the positive like is disappointing. It should have been the companies being called out behind the group and the western artists. It’s not right to malign names of fellow artists without evidence, so I hope he has everything sorted.
