@adriesim2 жыл бұрын
I don’t even think that wearing fake designer is that bad in the grand scheme of things, but I initially understood the criticism as she was presenting them as real and lying about it and making money from the lies. She even wore fake products in an ad for the same brand, which is pretty audacious. But it’s gone past criticism and turned into a witch hunt. It seems like people won’t stop unless she does something to harm herself. This reaction is almost on par with people’s reaction to the burning sun scandal but Jia didn’t do anything that abused people. The hate has gotten ridiculous. Were her choices stupid considering she wants to be a fashion designer and a beauty influencer? Yeah, but this is just a misdemeanor, and she took responsibility and apologized twice. I hope she’s doing okay and she can revive her career over after taking some time away from the spotlight and reflecting.

I agree with David on the Blackpink issue. They are good and they've got the public's attention at the moment. But in the entertainment industry they must keep the audience engaged, too long of a break will result in people shifting to other artists, not even realising they're less and less interested in BP. Which would be a shame because, as David said, they have the potential for going far in the music industry, and as idols. I'm not even a fan of them, but it's really a shame to not have more of their music and performances when they're so good. I don't want them to be forgotten just because they're focused on different things. It's fine that they have their solo projects, but as a group they're stronger when they act as a group. I hope YG won't rely too much on their current popularity and give them some good music before it's too late.

its hard honestly, cuz their fans have literally be begging yg to give the other members solo opportunities after jennie. They finally got a year whr the other 3 went towards their own style (2 solo and 1 acting). All this combine would totally make it impossible to release grp songs cuz solo work takes out alot of time (esp drama), which explains why they let for such activity in 2021. Theres always a sacrifice for some things. Also with the fact that covid hit so hard then, which also limits concerts, thus shows how yg best handled the situation. That point about still making money regardless of music is so true though. At this point the people who are disappointed about the lack of music just seems like the vocal minority. Blackpink will continue to break record views and listens no matter the frequency or quality of releases, and that sucks for us fans who really want them to grow and be actual music artists and not lifestyle icons. I’ve given up on BP as artists, I barely listen to their songs now (kinda sick of listening to the same ones for years), I doubt they still care enough about being artists to fight for songwriter status, I barely check out their socials too because there’s really nothing new aside from modeling stuff, and I just ignore any announcement from YGE because I know any info they give is useless until an actual teaser comes out or something, and then even when they comeback, I don’t think it’ll be any different from their previous releases anyway. So while I know there are others who feel the same as I do I still doubt much is going to change. I’m just holding out hope for Rosé because she seems genuinely intent on being a singer-songwriter in the future, but for Blackpink as a group making new, quality, self-composed music that actually means something? Nah.

the difference between the horse and the human stuntman, is the stuntman is usually fully aware of all the possible risks (including a possibility of death with some stunts) and can consent and even learn the safest ways to preform the stunt (literally the whole point of being a professional stuntman). . the horse can not provide consent, the horse can not fully understand all the dangers involved, and in this particular case, the horse most likely wasn't even aware of the danger until it was in the air and it was too late. . if a stuntman does a risky stunt and gets hurt or dies, then it's on him or herself for agreeing to do the stunt in the first place. if an animal gets hurt or dies "performing" a risky stunt, then it's on the people who were involved with the stunt and the people responsible for the animal's safety and wellbeing.

Why do we continuously talk about these kpop idols as if they aren’t grown ass adults making their own decisions? Blackpink chose to train and sign with YG. They choose to do all the fashion brand deals, influencer lifestyle stuff. In my opinion if Blackpink wanted to make more music they would. You can literally see each members passion. Lisa is passionate about dancing so what does she do. She goes on these shows as idol dance tutors, she’s always with choreographers learning new routines or just dancing, she releases her cinematic dance performances when she wants to. Jennie is passionate about fashion so collaborates with these magazines, fashion brands, etc. I think fans are just holding onto this narrative that YG is locking them into “a dungeon” because they don’t want to accept the reality that most of the girls are just not that into music and yes some of them prefer the influencer lifestyle. I swear these girls will be renewing their contracts with YG and fans will still be complaining. Blackpink is at the stardom level where they have the weight to make demands from their agency. If they’re not doing music it’s because they’re not that interested. Also that statement about Billie and Olivia Rodrigo could literally be applied the other way around. What does Blackpink have over them to deserve more stardom?

In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with demanding music _from a music-making group_ . They are not models, or actors, or influencers first - above all, they are idols. @@raerohan4241 I don’t think there’s anything wrong with demanding and being unsatisfied but I think fans are deluding themselves if they feel majority of the blame is on YG. And in my opinion the only member that I think is unsatisfied with the frequency of their releases is Rosé. Hence we see her doing lives and making more appearances for music specifically. If the other girls were that interested they would do the same as well. Instead I can see that Lisa is very passionate about dance and Jennie fashion as well being influencer.

Yes they've never showed it cuz of restrictions,yg is a shitty company with millions of restrictions, the girls have went through a lot and they can for sure make music about their experience with self expression just if they had a better company... Still it's not like just releasing one or two good songs like that gonna make them true artists like Billie but they definitely have potential to make it big if they keep it constant.. let's have faith 🤞🏻

In India you can't use animals, except maybe dogs & cats, for entertainment purposes including circus for this very reason. And movies are required to add "No animals were harmed during the making" to their disclaimers. Real horses, elephants, etc. are added later using CGI. All countries need to have similar laws.

YG is seriously being stupid. Idols have such a short shelf life... you have a group that blows up in such a big way as Blackpink did, you capitalize on it... you don't have your best players riding the bench! I'm not saying they should release something every 3 months... but twice a year seems pretty damn reasonable and keeps them relevant! I love them, but I'm tired of only seeing them being models and selling luxury goods. Something that's a side hustle for some lucky idols, has become BP's whole damn job the last couple of years and music their side hustle. 😔 Such a shame.

South Korea is the number 1 in luxury brands consumption in Asia. The expectation for young people to own luxury goods is far higher than it is in both China and Japan combined. Let that sink in because it’s absolutely crazy, and now people are cancelling this poor girl for trying so hard to fit in? It’s obviously not because she chose fake goods, but because she pretended they were real …. Hmm can’t you guys see it? It’s so sad that Jia literally did everything to be “acceptable” for South Korean society, she got plastic surgery on her face and body, she’s believes that having a fake perfect life is an accomplishment …. Isn’t that really sad? She’s a perfect representation of what South Koreans value in life. It’s not Jia that is “tainting the image of South Korea”, it’s the people’s response toward her that is tainting the country.

Emon I get what you’re saying, but fanbase doesn’t matter for the Grammys. That only matters for fan voted awards like the AMAs. And even then you have to be at the top of the charts to be nominated. The grammys decide winners based on how the academy members vote. Even BTS couldn’t get nominated for the main awards after Butter was number one on the Hot 100 in the US for 7 weeks and after selling out stadium shows. We’ll see if they manage to win best pop performance. They didn’t manage to do that last year after Dynamite was so successful on the charts too. Also I understand that Blackpink is restricted, but at the same time you can’t hold them up as talented songwriters like Olivia and Billie when that haven’t actually written anything notable yet. Maybe they have potential, but potential doesn’t mean anything unless it is realized.

I got into Kpop around 2017/2018 So shortly after Blackpink released As if it's your last. I liked their music a lot. I was very close to getting into them. I was very excited for d4. But after waiting for a year and then getting 4 songs I was disappointed. Especially because d4 was kinda a lacking song Imo. But I thought they would come back in 6 months or so and then there would be a full album and there would be more songs that I liked. But that never happened. They dissappeared for another year only to release a carbon copy of d4 as a title track. Idk after d4 I really lost interest in them because their music hasn't developed and they don't even have a lot of it in the first place. While other groups that debuted in a similar time frame grew and thrived and developed, like Twice, NCT Red Velvet, etc. Blackpink still feels like a rookie group to me. Sure they r talented, but we don't see much of their talent and there is no logical reason why they have so little music out other that they or YG doesn't want them to release any. Even a lot of western artists, who release music way less frequently, that released their debut album/ep in 2017 or even 2018 have more music out than Blackpink by now. See Billie Eilish for example So either YG doesn't let them release any music because they don't have the resources to make any, which is weird because they r a music label, or blackpink does not want to release any music

I think BP are very good performers, in addition to being mostly influencers/life-style icons, of late... the issue isn't that they need to be handed music and raps to say by YG, I really think if they want to be musicians, then they also need to be in the studio at least trying to come up with their own stuff to show they also really want to help push the music. I don't get the vibe there is any real musical drive. This isn't meant to be hateful, so please don't take it that way... but if they want to be taken seriously in the US at least the rappers need to get serious about writing their own verses. I do think they have the ability to keep getting bigger in the US, as they already are fairly well known, certainly compared to most Korean acts, but, again, I don't know how serious they are about making music vs. being in the spotlight.

Yes musicians keep releasing their own songs without big releases or comeback and always working in studios but true I don't see that in bp, Even if they didn't do full production, they don't really involve themselves enough writing or composing to be at that level, now as solo artist they don't talk about their music so I never took them like musicians, but I'm guessing rose has her definite style and will evolve to it in future, for others I don't see it as of now

I love BP but the difference between them and people like BTS and Billie and Olivia Rodrigo (and even Bigbang) is they have little to no involvement in the music making process. While the music and preformances are great it's the same YG formula as always and not really anything that sets them apart from other YG artists. That shows individualism and personality of each member. Bigbang and 2NE1 were icons of their time and while they had a YG vibe that no other company can replicate, they also were so involved in the making of their music/preformances/clothes that so much if their own personality jumped out at you and and no other group even in YG could replicate them. To win a Grammy you shouldn't just be good and likable in my opinion you need to be unique in a way that no one else copy. I hope one day the girls either find a new company or are given the opportunity to do what they trained years for. I feel like there's so much talent even in music production/fashion etc that we haven't seen yet that would bring them on a level closer to BTS.

Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo are popular and Grammy nominated mainly because of their song writing abilities. They write all their own songs and their lyrics are, in my opinion, amazing. They are authentic. That’s what it takes to succeed in the American market. That’s why BTS gained traction in America. There is an expectation here that you have a hand in the creation of your songs and that they express your genuine emotions. I have no idea what Blackpink talent’s are in regards to songwriting and producing. But, in my opinion, gaining creative control over their music is the only way they could come close to Olivia and Billie. But I doubt that’s going to happen because that’s not the kpop model. In kpop everything is controlled by the company. I feel like kpop companies misunderstand the American market. Like BTS is never going to win a Grammy with songs like Dynamite, Butter, and PTD. They’ll win by creating a polished song that’s real and honest.

What I'm about to say is for sure going to get me a lot of downvotes, but I don't care. YG has no intention of giving BP consistent comebacks. They have become complacent with the way BP earns them money. When BP does have their comeback the song will most likely be underwhelming, but their fans are going to praise it as if it were a masterpiece because they have been deprived of BP music. When you look at the amount of music that they have released relative to the amount of time that they have been active, it is very minuscule. No matter how many times Blinks beg for a comeback, YG will continue to rarely give them out until BP's contracts expire. The video of the animal abuse is absolutely heartbreaking.... Non-human animals also deserve our respect and should not be used by us for our entertainment or pleasure. However, I think one important thing we need to talk about in this situation is also that of factory farming. If we consider the way this horse is treated as being abuse then so is our entire food system which is built on the exploitation and abuse of billions of beautiful sentient beings every single year. We all agree that the way the horse was treated is abuse and clearly wrong, so we need to also reflect on what we do on a daily basis for our own sensory pleasures (having meat on our plates), because by eating meat we support the abuse of animals and make it go on for longer. Please check out Earthling Ed's KZbin channel for some eye-opening talks, debates, and videos about our current destructive and unethical animal agricultural practices and why we need to change our system and move to a full plant-based lifestyle if we want to save our planet and create a more compassionate world.

Just recently IVE came and smashed it for the shortest first win. Kep1ar is coming it o the scene ,strong as ever. LOONA is doing good, Dreamcatcher, the underrated sleeper group is slowly gaining traction in popularity. SM might release a new song with Girls On top. And Blackpink need to be at the top of their game if they want to stay relevant against the female version of superM. Look at how BTS listens to their fans…. they are literally dropping a full Korean album this year with the BU storyline. ARMYs said that they want the Korean songs back, so BTS said yes,and went to the studio and made some during the pandemic. Either YG needs to let the girls have creative freedom,or the girls should make YG give them, the freedom to put out their ideas, heart and soul through music.

I think YG is letting them make connections to these big stars. Kpop idols don't have the same social life like BP does (partying with big names, being friends with them) maybe the few big k-celebs out there are but not a lot. You don't often hear or see KPOP Idols partying in Europe/America with western/global celebs or being on multiple fashion shows. They're like purposely letting them be social with western celebs to make connections spreading their name out there. But the music they put out aren't the most mind boggling or earth shattering and YG knows that and so they're letting them make a name for themselves not as artists but as korean "celebrities".

This might be long but I wanted to explain in detail what might have happened with the horse in detail for those interested because I am sooo mad. Firstly, I've been riding and caring for horses for a long time, and I know a proper stunt team would have NEVER allowed this. These people spend their entire lives on training these horses. They become family. It is possible to train a horse so that with a few camera tricks, it looks like it tripped and fell (safely). The rope did not allow for the horse the get up, which is important because it's their first instinct. A flight animal will never stay down if possible. Tangled in that rope, Cami probably hurt itself even more trying to get free. Also, injuries to the legs are very hard to heal for horses because they need to be on their feet 95% of the time. I see that the horse fell on it's neck. These types of head first falls happen, but usually doesn't result in serious injuries for the horse, because they "roll". Rolling is crucial to distribute the impact, and we see the rope preventing that (a horse can balance pretty quickly and easily, although the weight of the rider complicates things). Same goes for the stuntman. He was unable to roll and falls directly on his chest and face, probably got the wind knocked out of him, he then rolls to the side in pain. There is no way he didn't know this would happen. Stunt people are actually very wary of injuries because it prevents them from their job. Same goes for the animals they train, probably even more so. I suspect they had no idea what they were doing. It feels like instead of paying for a proper stunt team they opted for who would do it the cheapest. Unfortunately this isn't the first time an ex-race horse was considered "expandable". These horses are taken to the tracks very very young. Their only job is to run faster, so the trainers don't spend time on crucial steps in training a horse, like teaching balance, boundaries etc. So when these "failed" horses retire they are very young, at most 5 (mind you a horse can start ridden work at approx. 3, but race horses start even younger). So these ex-race horses (who are hot-blooded breeds) are basically 3 year old kids who have never been taken care of properly and taught manners. They can have great success in other fields but they require a lot of work. You need to teach them everything from scratch. This makes them "undesirable" and a lot of them (around the world) are sold to slaughter. This "stunt" was done being aware of the consequences. They knew what they were doing they just thought they could get away with it, and probably got away in the past.
