They measured up. Luka and Jokic have been two best players in the NBA last 3-4 years. Yo, team USA, so called "Dream Team" has barely beaten Serbia at the Olympiad in Paris in July, by 4 points, mostly due to last minute heroics by Curry. The team loaded with LBJ, Steph, AD, Embiid and the likes. So, just because most US coaches don't know how to use players with different skills set (like Jolic or Luka or Vezenkov), that does not mean that truly tallented players coming from elsewhere will succeed in the league where self-promotion and loud chest-thumping are the way to go.

I think he felt a little betrayed. I think the Kings made him believe he will have a bigger role. Keep in mind he held off on going to the NBA and Kings made multiple trips to Europe to convince him. I am basing this on something he said in a Bulgarian interview which was something a long the lines of (it up to the coach, but it just sucks when you are told one thing and something different happens). My guess is the Kings were honest with him after the season and told him they don't have a big role for him, so he asked for a trade, then he got traded to the Raptors where maybe he just didn't want to go to Canada or maybe he just didn't believe he will get enough playing time either. Even talents like Petrovic, Divac, Hedo, Nowitzki, Marciulionis, Peja, Jokic and Giannis needed time to develop. They stuck it out and became stars. If this guy is that nice, he should've seamlessly transitioned. The NBA doesn't bias against good talent, every coach is going to use a guy who can help them keep their job. What I see is a guy who does the same thing that 80% of NBA players do, shoot. As stated, he lacked defensively. Even in a lazy NBA, you gotta at least be able to force a guy to help. If you get blown by consistently, your scoring is negated by you inability to defend, even with token resistance. I didn't see a single Euro highlight of him clamping up, defensive rebounding or deflecting. It was him shooting and dunking.

Scoring 24 points with no dribbles just means you can't create for yourself and that kinda play style doesn't win any championships anywhere only if you have a btter player on the team that can do that and you are number 2

I’m not sure that it was a “or nightmare” for the raptors. Sasha said his intentions and the raptors worked out a deal to make it happen without the cap hit. No one cared what Olympiakos fans thought.

We sure gave them hell in their social media, they admitted it. This would have continued even stronger for 2 whole years if Torondo hadn't waived him. Anyway now the nightmare is over

I just don’t think they gave him a chance. Like when he played he was great at team defense as opposed to one on one. And when he was on the court eye test (don’t know the numbers) he was very efficient from 3. He was also a great scorer inside. Idk what it is the kings were looking for but I thought he played great and would get better over a year or 2. But whatever not surprised the kings passed on him when they’ve passed on other greats.

It is funny how he respects neither his commitment nor the contract, and you're making it sounds like he is the victim. You take a gamble on yourself, and if it works out, excellent. If it does not, well, you honour what you signed up for. This is a total lack of professionalism and the Greek fans support this? Well, probably tells you why the country is the way it is. Either way, he made a choice of trading honour and dignity for more money and the enjoyment out of playing ball, I hope he does well, but it's going to be a black mark on him forever.

for real, Iam Bulgarian but this was a reaaaaaaally weak move. I woundnt be mad at all if he at least tried playing for Toronto for 1 season and then if it didnt work out he could return to Olympiacos. Olympiacos think he is Michael Jordan, they would sign Vezenkov on a multi-year deal even when he is 40, no NBA team is ever gonna sign him again after he left like that...Iam sure he would regret his desecion later on, everyone is telling him he will, but apperantly he is not good at listening to his countryman......He was the 1st Bulgarian to play in the NBA in the last 38 years...the disspointment for us Bulgarian basketball fans is just immesurable...

He just couldnt hack it at the end of the day. Funny Europeans like Jokic, Luka and Giannis became among the best players in the NBA. Being a regular MVP in the Euroleague means you are a role player in the NBA. You need to be a generational MVP like Luka if you want to be a superstar in the NBA.
