lol...DL Hughley, I applaud your tenacity in trying to educate people. But this clearly shows there will always be those who, no matter what the facts are, are going to hold on to the beliefs or narrative that best suit(s) them. If they benefit from the power structure as-is, we can expect that they may never admit the truth. Salute to you for trying, though.

People want to conveniently omit the fact that it's socioeconomic issue more than a racial issue. Bottom line is, people attack what is around them. Over 80% of all murders are committed by people who knew the victim. Also, crime is highest in the areas with the most poverty. So if you rid areas of resources n gerrymander to where they can't use their vote to change things, crime is going to exist. It's convenient for people to play the race card, either way, because it's an ignorant yet accepted narrative that people love to spew. They're too lazy to dig deeper and look at common sense. Crime occurs most when and where poverty exists. Period.

TRULY! There's an ex Baltimore cop who's first name is Michael. There's a video of this very decent man exposing the corruption of police departments. I also know an ex San Francisco police officer who NEVER had to shoot/kill anyone during his career. Back then (in the 1980's in San Francisco) they would chase (on foot) unarmed suspects who ran from them (not shoot them in the back 8 times)! They used their night sticks and fired warning shots...only when necessary. These weak ass, racist bully cops are lying when they use that "feared for my life" bullshite!

Not necessarily......England has gone through mass depressions, notably in the 20's and 80's and the crime rate didn't rocket through the roof and there weren't ton's of killings because of the poverty. America was and is a violent country. It's never changed.
@PotentialThall

it's never changed because america actively does nothing, it's sounds funny but they literally plan on doing nothing about poverty, england even from those years were working at ending mass poverty, Europe destroy's america in things like education and class wage earnings, nobody or system is perfect but atleast they give it a shot. looks like it turned out pretty good for them, not mentioning their immigrant situation though

caligirl LA You can't excuse murder because people are poor. I can understand but not agree with someone shoplifting if they're hungry and broke but the same logic doesn't follow to murder. This blanket excuse for the high crime rate is a major problem in the inner cities and doesn't help the good people there.
@purpledude603

That is the biggest f-ing lie. There are tons of poor people who do not break the law. Can you tell me how many of those who are not working even want to work or even lift a finger to make their lives better. That is a sorry ass excuse which is nothing but saying it is ok to commit crimes. Show me a black person who just chills and hangs out with their friends and dies not want to put any effort to better themselves and I will show you a white person doing the same thing that are no better off. any one of these poor people can get money for education, but it is clear that way too many of those complaining reject education at every turn. How can you possibly blame someone else for the choices that put you exactly where you are.???. A little honesty would sure go a long way.
@87willus
@87willus 7 жыл бұрын
caligirl LA I agree it's not race it's poverty but I get frustrated with what Americans call poverty. the poorest people have access to free food and shelter free electricity basically everything u need to survive yet people still complain like they got it bad. there are third world countries that would go to some of the poorest spots of america and feel like they made it, I remember Dave chappelle made a joke about it.

They have separate regulations for the Police. Read the codes of your state and you will find that police have immunity from most things that would be considered criminally punishable under certain circumstances when acting in their official duties. That is why it's so difficult to prosecute when you see the police violating any law, code, or ordinance.

The conversation shows me that the issue will always boil down to color, and the prospective of the that persons. color. The last caller beleived that because the man who shot the gentleman in the stair well was a cop, he made a mistake there for he was not guilty of a crime, yet a life was lost. ok so because it was not intentionally. done and his uniform. was BLUE, those to things made the life less valuable and it was ok. DAM! So if that was his son, brother, nephew, family whoever I wonder if his perspective. would be different? So if we make a mistake and someone dies, we are not responsible if we are a cop, or if it was not intentional?? JUST to think we have people on the police. force tat beleive this too be true is a dam shame and super deep. I too have to sons, and I live in. very racist city, I always pray for their protection, and I prepare my mind for what CAN be. I make them call me when they get home, they laugh, but too me its not funny. If they forget I call them. Than I worry about their counterparts out here in these streets. All I can do is trust God , and that I do. Than the man who said black people need to behave, was ignorant as hell, nawh fool,you need to behave saying. some stupid racist crap like this. Miss behaveing aint no dam color thang chump, its a people thang. Give one of yall a few beers and a shot, yall become buck wild. Its simply not publicized, the media lovessssd making us look bad, but whites do the same stuff we do. Its a racist bias world and trurh be told yall wanna keep it that away. We need to boycott. everything yall own and do a Rosa parks on yall, get our well earned resepct. Yall hate for our black skin, how freaken stupid. God made Us just the same as he made yall.

My son was killed by a stray bullet, from the gun of a black man, resulting from target practice in a residential neighborhood. He was charged with 2nd degree murder and sentenced to 27 years, even though he had turned himself in and cooperated with the Police. His sentence was higher because of prior offenses but, he was sentenced nonetheless. In the case of loss of life, even accidental, deserves accountability. No exceptions! Closure for the victim’s loved-ones cannot be attained when the criminal goes free. But, racist Whites; to include the caller (ex NYC cop) who insisted that the brother shot in the stairwell was undeserving of justice, do not value Black Lives, hence the necessity for the existence of #Black Lives Matter.

There is a tremendous expense that goes into recruitment and training cops these days. There can be a significant expense involved in the discipline of bad cops, due to union rules too. And there is the matter of having to rely on a " bad" cop in a tight situation too, that results in a reluctance to say something about observed misconduct. And a system that fails to take effective action, and leaves bad cops on the job keeps other cops silent too. And there is the matter of the perception of legitimacy that needs to be maintained too.

It's Educational 2 see the Mindset of Law Enforcement Folk- Active Duty & Retired. Even 'Right Minded' individuals make an ALLOWANCE 4 Special Circumstance, when dealing w/ Black People. In NYC, We have the 'Officer Next Door Program' 2 keep NYPD in NYC. Like U stated, They get 50% off the Mortgage. It used 2 B easy 2 apply 4, but now, there R Specific Homes in Specific Neighborhoods that may make Officers find what they like 4 Full Price. Keep it Coming! Stay Blessed! #UpliftTheRaceAGAIN

I totally understand the fight and I do believe we should keep fighting BUT....as we just heard it is tons of people that see things their way and they refuse to see it any other way. And unfortunately these people makes the law and when they feel like it break the laws, this will never stop..never....

You cannot straddle the fence and the issue is you have individuals like this retired cop who feel a cop shouldnt be held accountable for a mistake but everyone else who would have done that should and would be. You are either hot or cold and there is no in between.

+Jason good point. As a black man I ain't holding no white person accountable for me. I know and experience the old saying" YOU reap what you sow, not THEY reap what you sow". So i try to be responsible in the choices I make. Does this mean I will never fall victim to the prejudicial biasis of others, be they white, black, latino, indian, or asian? Of course not. I will. You will. We will all experience stupid ass prejudice or racism from somebody else at some point in time. Even when we may not notice it. Consider this: Once in a casual conversation a white police officer (when off duty), admitted one of his biggest fears was to have a racist unstable partner working with him. Because that fool could put not only other's lives in danger, but his as well. Now had I suggested to him to not hold that person accountable for what that racist asshole could do that could endanger his life or career, I can definately tell you he would told me and you to shut up because we haven't experienced what he has.

DL Thank you for being patient with THEM people. They are a little slow. I have had to adopt a philosophy. IF YOU FIND IGNORANT PEOPLE LEAVE THEM THAT WAY.

I like DL... and I totally agree the problem absent of education, resources, leadership, opportunity, and safety. Until that is resolved we will continue to high crime in areas where people are desperate and feel left behind.
