The first vehicle I built was a 1967 vw baja with a bus reduction gear transaxle with 33x12.50 all the way around. I adjusted the torsion splines to lift it. 1600 cc engine and painted it the A Team van theme....I was 14 🤷‍♂️

JH, if you run that race again next year with the vw bugs when your braking to go in to the corner DOWNSHIFT! I believe you couldve passed alot of people and placed top 3 if you were to downshift and be in higher Rs coming out the apex and was able to gain speed alot quicker. Plus you would be using the trans to slow you down as well as the brakes. Just some food for thought for next years race.

I grew up driving beetles and I really don't think the time lost shifting a stock power beetle would have helped. Try to find the best gear to keep the rpm up and send it.
