Love the 01/02 2500HD trucks!the grille was a must! I Basically grew up in my dad’s 01 duramax he bought new. Traded it off with 356k miles on it. I had a NBS 2000 2500 with a 6.0L that had the 1/2 ton style front end on it! Always wanted to swap it to the HD stuff.

Like you mentioned about a header collector extension. Make sure and install at least 16" it will pick up probably at least 30 lb ft of torque

Hey, just a word of caution, throw that junk glass fuel filter out. Thats a common know leaker and fire starter. Go with a wix 33003 clear 3/8 filter

I'm glad you gave the big block a chance. I wouldn't put one in a light vehicle (because I can't afford an aluminum block) but for heavy vehicles that off idle torque is just grand. I feel your pain with being inexperienced building a BBC too. There's so many parts that might fit but DONT. It took me about 6 months to build my 6th gen 454. That was just reading and measuring every step of the way so I didn't buy the wrong crap. Which I still did but only the push rod guides.

Run the exhaust under the bars under the door and turn them on at the bed won’t have to worry about Tire clearance! Run a 3in pipe of the header into a 5in back down to a 4in it make them engines exhaust sound amazing

It's the collector that people are telling him to lengthen. There is an optimal length of pipe after the collector for bottom end torque. There's an episode of engine masters where they test exhaust configurations and open headers and zoomies cost quite a lot.
