To stop an engine with water it has to go into the intake not the exhaust. Even if you filled the pipe while it's running it will just keep running. The piston is forcing gasses out at a very high rate and pressure water will just be pushed around. That's why people put snorkels on four wheelers and other stuff on the intake and leave the exhaust buried in the water. Kinda how if you swim under water and breathe out all the water stays out of your mouth.
@BritishAgriPhotography5 жыл бұрын
Noah Hedrick Yep futile efforts from stupid people! Even at the intake it would take a LOT of water to shut down an engine of that size

water in the exhaust can work only if a shit ton of it is used that it's able to overcome the exhaust pressure. Not an amount water cannons will be able to achieve. Even then safety systems will probably cause the engines to shut down before any damage can be caused.

Anyone that attempts to disable vessels at sea are placing peoples lives and property in danger and need to be arrested. Does that also justify the use of force to protect the vessel and crew? The US and other Navies have done just that several times. Those who sent it and those aboard the vessel that was sent to disable these vessels should also have to pay for any damages and compensation for losses incurred as a result of their actions and be subject to civil claims by the people put in danger as a result of said actions as well. I do not agree with wale hunting, but endangering lives and property at sea as this "organization does to make their point is terrorism in my opinion. If you all want to go to sea to add drama to "fighting" for your cause, without endangering people, then document and report any unlawful fishing activities. Proof of the claims is not difficult to obtain with today's near real time satellite imaging available. For what it costs to man and operate one of these terrorist vessels they could also pay for a lot of international lobbying to change the laws where needed. The methods now employed only serve to give this organization a bad name and take away any respect for their efforts and diminish any chances of making meaningful progress.

Idaho Sagebrush uhh yaaa sooo about essentially everything you just said, In the second paragraph at least. You CLEARLY dont have a clue. So i will see if i can spell it out for you. In regards to the “unlawful fishing activities” that you claim the sea shepherd should try and record. There is a treaty that says no nation will actively fish for whales and that doing so is a crime. Therefore every bit of footage shown is evidence of this act. However the Japanese simply claim that they are only doing it for scientific research and basically utilize a loophole which is why noone else actually does anything about it. Soo pay for all the lobbying you want, the laws are already in favor of what the sea shepherds want. That being said the Japanese clearly dont care about the laws. And lastly i hate to break it to ya but considering them terrorists is quite a stretch. They dont want to hurt anybody. They simply want to shut the ships down so they cannot go out and kill whales. Guaranteed if something where to happen and the Japanese sailers needed help. They would save them and let every last one of them board the bob barker.

IF you could plug the exhaust, it would stall the engine, exhaust can't get out so fuel/air can't get in, but that's a big if. Jarno Saarinen they aren’t still there. They’re no longer allowed in the southern ocean thanks to the 2014 ruling by the international court of justice. They modify their quota and went back for three years but gave it up after that. I think this is the first full year that Japan has not gone down to the southern ocean and they remove themselves from the international whaling commission which essentially leaves them with no choice but to fish in their own waters.

Ok I’m seeing people say that wouldn’t work, it could, if you fill the exhaust pipe it would create a lot of back pressure and possibly even get into the cylinders but yeah they basically just gave the thing a little rinse, the white smoke is steam guys- exhaust pipes get hot

Nah mah dude, piracy would be sinking them at sea or boarding them at night stealthily to hijack the vessel. If they were smart they would use dive tanks while they are in port and foul or damage the ship when it is vulnerable the most. There are plenty of options to cause havoc to a vessel when it is a port. These blokes know they make more money off the show, so they continue to do these tactics that make it seem fruitful to the incompetent.

As far as im concerned boat engines do not achieve high rpm. The rate of exhaust flow is not high, but the volume of water needed to flood engines of that size would be closer to waves of water. Where the chamber is submerged and positive vacuum is stopped

You need way more than a quick splasher. They should have kept going, all the smoke was just the water evaporating inside the exhaust pipe before it even could reach the engine. Great idea tho.

Between 2002-2016, we conducted eleven Southern Ocean Whale Defense Campaigns, saving the lives of over 6000 whales from the whaling fleet's deadly harpoons. When the Japanese government announced that the whaling program in the Antarctic was finally over, this year became the first year that the Antarctic Whale Sanctuary was just that: a sanctuary. Read commentary from Captain Peter Hammarstedt about this massive victory for the whales of the Southern Ocean:
