The Sea Shepherds have been trying to use a rope to entangle the Japanese whaling ship's propellor, but so far haven't had much success. The whalers decide to play the Sea Shepherds at their own game and deploy a prop fouler of their own.

It's not for a lack of trying though. They crashed one of their boats with nearest help (including the whalers, mind you!) being 12 hours away, they stranded a small boat crew on an iceberg because they smashed the engine, they boarded a foreign nation's ship at least twice, they collided with ships bigger than their own multiple times, they throw acid bottles onto decks where people work, they lack an understanding of the wind so some of them land on themselves, they tried to swamp the engine of a ship *days* from shore with their water canon which they had to know would be problematic with that ships rations even if it was towed as fast as possible... I could go on, but you get the point. They are willing to kill and be killed (and waste millions in funding while doing so) for not even making a dent in the japanese whaling numbers. On the contrary, Japan decided that if they have the hussle anyway, they might as well resume comercial whaling in full, which they did in 2018.

I love the nostalgia of watching this decade later with the sole realization that we won in the southern ocean. Sweet international justice and Japan cowering from the southern ocean for the last time a year ago. Now the outlaw whaling nations stand alone outside the international whaling commission. Japan relegated to its national waters, Iceland down to one whaling fleet, in Norway barely going after a third of their quota. Public consumption continues to Wayne while the international community condemns the last Pirates stubbornly continuing industrial wailing.
