Greeting from South Africa. Your videos convinced me to buy the carpe iter tablet. Currently in transit to me. Cant wait to get it installed on the Norden. Seems like there is not that many users worldwide as it seems like a lot of people don’t even know about this tablet. I will give my insights once I tested it in the South African conditions.

My zumoXT just died due to water intrusion so I've been looking at DMD again. The part that I haven't squared away is spending a bunch of money on an app/device that only has 1 developer. I'm going to do some more research on it, but that is a bit of a concern for me. Thanks for the walkthrough!

​@@WorldCommander It's amazing. Once you try it for a while there's no living without it. I've used it on several trips on various bikes, currently a 701 where I'm also using a obd dongle so I can see rpm and temperature I'd also recommend one of the handlebar controllers. One side befit is that it's a full android device, so any other apps you use can also be loaded.

Do they have a GPX for Beer? You need that bad. Just got to watch this Tuesday night. Downloaded it. Very interesting and useful. Of course for now I will use USA map. I like this. Seems simple enough with just a little practice it will work well for me. Good presentation Robert. I'm glad you have camping in your back yard. Handy for travelers. Windy is good. I like the tilt and elevation settings. You can locate a good location for phot ops sunset, etc. Topo settings? I like those. Thanks for doing this. A lot of info that I needed. Knowledge is powerful. So I'm very weak. Get ready for the big trip.

Hey Robert.. i got a quick question, I got the ABS dongle i connect between the ABS unit. But I also got the Thorkracing ODB Dongle... not where to plus this one in so the Tablet plus the ABS dongle works....big question mark...?

You need a odb splitter so you can have both connected. Sold at the same place ypu got the odb dongle 👍🏻

Dmd is great but the key thing I'm surprised about and which is stopping me buying one is lack of full gpx management. So many other apps have features like folders, tags, cloud sync etc. For the cost, i ideally want this to be my all in one solution rather than having to manage the gpxs elsewhere.

Home screen has 5 panels where you can add navigation, apps, heading etc I have my tablet in portrait but only have option to input into 3 panels whereas you had 5, eg your bottom panel had trip statistics

Not sure exacly what you mean. Waypoints can be created or loaded in gpx files. Also there have been many improvementd in DMD since this video

Select "System widget" for one of the slots. Then exit settings. Click on the system widget and you can select which widget to show form a list.

@@NomadSweden Thanks for the reply -didn’t expect it. I did that, but where you got a nice weather map in the list, all I got were various forms of forecast, which, when uploaded into the space don’t even show the full forecast. Its making me grumpy 😠

@@nockianlifter661 One of the widgets from Windy is the radar screen. Not sure why you don't see it. But now I have changed weather app to MyRadar. You can try that one too. But I only want to see the radar screen, not so much forecasts.

So, I`m about 2 days old in the DMD2 world and really made a leap in insight watching your video. Really great! Since this video is a year old... How is the turn by turn coming along? (Yes I run Garmin :( ) Is it possible to pair it to helmet to get vocal turn by turn? What will I miss if I throw away my Zumo XT do you thing?

Welcome to the revolution. Turn by turn is working well now with voice etc but i never use it. Garmin is more detailed on lanes etc but i never lost my way.

I have been experimenting with tracks downloaded from other sources. However when i import them into DMD2 what i end p seeing is a Track file and a Route file. Is there an easy way to edit out the Route file so just the Track is visible? Thanks

Yes you can tap the eye symbol to hide tracks and waypointd

I have the carpe iter with the same version of the DMD2 as you but can´t see how you make the map tilt ? also you have under map settings an option that i don¡t have which is :Topo advanced options: I just downloaded this version last night so it is upto date, strange it is missing that option ? look forward to the next video, cheers

If you have a gpx file it may now start or en where you are. This is a way to navigate to the start or the end of the gpx file 👍🏻

Yo Robert, can you please share the coordinate of the motoberfest location? I live in Trollhättan and started my tenere 700 journey a few months back after upgrading my A2 to A so Id like to try some new spots! Also, Im thinking to get a GPS device. Running a quadlock with samsung s23 ultra now so I got 3 options. 1st is to run my phone with DMD2 software but it risks to damage my camera over long time use. 2nd is to buy a Garmin Zumo XT. 3rd is to get a full DMD2 package. What would you recommend? Mvh!

As always interesting looking at your “videos” Could not se the livestream, because I was navigating with my CI with DMD2 installed (the “old” version), back home to Dalarna/Sweden, from a 2500km trip in the north of Sweden and the Middle East of Norway. Hi Robert. I have a Carpe Iter bought from Thork but it seems to lack many of the features. I'm guessing your Beta version has these tricks. I'm not bad with technology but I cannot get the DMD beta version. Still, the system is good and it works.

I'll try it first on my Android phone but John from Thork says on his video that you need to take the OS DMD off, and reinstall from scratch and I can see that going wrong. My Carpe Iter won't let me change the default OS to Deckchair or whatever it is called. There is a big part of me telling myself "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Hi, Love your channel :-) But you know since DMD 2 is optimized for Landscape mode and is almost useless in portrait mode (and I use the carpe iter pad in portrait mode) I really want to go back to the V2.77 version. Do you know how to do that? I really tried all the steps (clearing the cash, download the "old" version, uninstall the beat etc.) but every time I have installed the alleged official version the beta pops up when i open the app. So far no answer from DMD and also no answer from Carpe Iter to that problem. Do you happen to know something like that or do you have some contacts which can be ask for help? I really would appreciate it 🙂

DMD2 software CAN NOT USE SD memory card to store maps on ANY device!!😢😮 My 1 MAJOR reason I will NOT renew my license! I run DMD2 software on a Samsung active tab3. I contacted DMD; their answer; "yes, it's Google's fault".

It works on their devices and if it’s a google play problem then i would trust them. They know their stuff

These DMD2 devices use Android too, so would have exactly the same problem as with other tablets... I guess? This is the reply DMD2 sent me; "Google enforced scooped storage on apps. Scooped storage for map files is a mess, cant use it. We would require all access permission which google does not provide to us."

On their own devices they do not have anything to do with Google and can do much more things. But when they sell it as an app on Google Play store they have to follow their rules for security. This is what I have read in their communication but I haven't tried it myself. I will do that today.

Yes it works on the T-devices from Thork as I described. But not on other devices when you download DMD2 from google play. It may work in the future of Google gives full access to storage but currently not.@@PeterR0035
