Darth has picked up on it and it seems to be common knowledge, but I still cant say it enough: D4 is made by people who don't play this type of game. They checked all the feature boxes, but they have no idea how they work or integrate into a full system. The steering wheel is on the roof, the engine is in the cabin, and trunk opens downward. Then they turn around and sell you new paint and to fix one of those problems. "18 new paint colors and finish! And now the steering wheel is in the cabin!".

Meh, it's a friendly jab between devs. Kinda a non issue. I don't know about Rod's "outburst". Was there something else after the Diablo-like post? Because that one is a non-issue, too. People were already referring to the Diablo formula or whatever you want to call it, because ARPG means a lot of things. Like Elden Ring is also an ARPG. Also it's not like GGG did the same with PoE1. We currently have a "2-months increased currency"- league to bring players back instead of a double XP weekend. The current Endgame (especially after they dropped T17) is also kinda shit. We don't have billions of DPS, but still enough to insta phase every boss. The only difference is the investment (and how hard the build kills your textures, too). Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty sure and hopeful they'll deliver with PoE2, but until they deliver with the public release this banter is just fan service.

PoE was designed from the ground up to be a multiplayer game whereas EHG tacked on multiplayer really, really late in the development process and they are paying to price for it now. If it was just a lack of content, it would be one thing, but Last Epoch is plagued by performance issues many of which are obviously network related.

The fact that I won't be able to corpse-run bosses to death is already effecting my planning when it comes to character, I'm thinking more about how tough my character is AND how mobile they are while fighting, so I can run circles around the boss and study their abilities while not dying long enough to actually learn it. POE has had "legit" dupes. Not in sense of items, but we did have the gilded fossil item copying which printed mirror shards if you found the right gilded item, beast dupes with extra clients, and a few other legitimate gameplay that crossed into exploit and possibly dupe territory.

Completely agree with DM on the “Uber” drops just not really happening. Ive played since 2013 and been rather spoiled with drops but thats over…10+ years. All in all it’s tens of thousands of drops before anything of value shows up. Nobody pays attention to item drops. You will almost never find an upgrade off the ground once in maps. You either craft or buy your gear. Divine drops have some weight to them but I feel the time spent target farming certain league mechanics is the only way to get decent drops and that takes a ton of time and effort just to get there…time new players and/or casuals just don’t have

From all interviews So far Legendary Drops interview was far the best in my opinion. Yes, questions about facts, mechanics are great but mostly covered by the big GGG stream. What makes it so good toi me is that he asked about the decisions and philosophy behind this game. It makes me understanding the game better, why mechanics are as they are. It also gives me the feeling that they care seriously about their game. That it will be good for years and not only a tech demo. I was wondering what they could add to the game that it feels different from PoE 1 but doesn`t lose its spirit, its unique feeling in the arpg genre. I've played PoE since it had 3 acts, and i'd rather have a chance at an amazing rare item versus the same 1:trillion chance a mirror / MB drops. Something about finding a rare item hits home, as Diablo 2 was my first RPG. For PoE it's knowing that bc of prefix/suffix blocking and meta-crafting + using perfect base, there really isn't a chance for any rare item to be useful endgame. The introduction of influenced items put the nail coffin.

Rod Fergusson comment is also ignorant of video game history. Rogue-like is now interpreted as the 2010s indie wave of roguelikes, but there are older ones. Diablo 1 is based on Angband which is an old school rogue-like. Randomly generated dungeons, randomly generated items, permadeath, D&D styled class system, charges on staves, light radius, damage to demons, damage to undead, going down 100 levels to beat a boss... The only thing D1 added is unique items, prefixes and suffixes, real time gameplay instead of turn based, and the focus on dispatching monsters. Diablo-like in the D2R sense is just real time roguelike x)

Adding skill elements is going to make PoE2 so fun to watch, which is another element of longevity that ARPGs haven't fully grasped. I just got D4 and am enjoying it in a dad on Thanksgiving break sort of way. But I will play PoE2 because the classes actually look fun to play. You can find really good rare items, just the time it takes to pick them up and id them isnt worth the time unless its day 1 or ssf. I always pick up evasion bases early cause you can find a lot of suppression gear. With recombs this is even better.

The irony about Rod's comment is that, D2 was SO influential and defining for the genre, ARPG and D2 are terms that have come to be synonymous. In essence, every ARPG has been compared to D2 because of that BY DEFAULT. Being so entrenched in your own delusion to not realize/know that is peak irony.

I honestly hope the full release of the game has a built in auction house for item selling instead of the trade situation we have now. That's my biggest complaint of POE. #Fruitstand

They should make it so that you can enter the Map 6 Times but can only try the Boss once for the completion. People can still make absurd Juiced maps but Lose something, when you dont do the bosses
