Many comments on how good this performance is, this doesn’t come as a surprise as IMO Manfred Honeck is one of the best conductors around at the moment. He should be chief of one of Europe’s top orchestras.

Certainly in his Beethoven...and he has far more versatility and breadth of rep than Kleiber showed.

The camera shots of the piano during the finale really heightens the unusual intensity of this performance, Incredible.

Is it in my imagination or, did I hear an added Major 3rd (F sharp) in the very last note of the symphony?

Bravo, bravissimo!!!

Once again, Honeck proves to me that he is not simply a conductor. He is the true embodied art form of gesture, as Kleiber once was. His level of detail that comes through in his performances is unmatched by almost any other living conductor, perhaps only to Currentiz himself, another true (and oh so rare) musical phrasing revolutionaries.

Honeck for President!

Nice interpretation although a little too slow at times. Ok Bernstein played it way to fast, but too slow destroyed the soul of the piece. Th struggle and anguish.
