Sean from 034Motorsport had some great suggestions for this installation that he reckons might save 20+ minutes: - Unbolting the charge pipe from the intake manifold on bank 1. - Unbolting the charge pipe from the bank 2 head (under Throttle Body). - Remove the exhaust studs off the head. With the studs removed, you don't need to loosen the 4 nuts underneath you can just wiggle the turbo out. - If you clamp the connection on the firewall behind bank 2, no water is lost. Really appreciate the tips Sean!

I don’t see where the charge pipe is bolted to the intake manifold? I need to get more slack to get the charge pipe to align to the turbo bolt holes. Any pics or suggestions welcomed!

Congrats on this. I was in a similar boat with my 2018 where I went stage 3 but was on the 710 instead of the 810 because 034 wasn't quite ready to release everything for the 810. I now have the full stage 3 / 810 setup on my 2021 B9.5 and while there is a noticeable difference, it's not like you're missing out on a ton of power with the 710. If you haven't yet definitely get some e85 in that thing and enjoy that, it's the way to go! Sweet ride and enjoy the car man!

Thank you! I'm definitely on E85 :), was thinking about testing out the race gas tune too since I have drums of 260 GT Plus. I think the 810 is probably the best option at the moment, but I'm not ready to ditch the 710 to chase a slight optimization. I think I'll wait for more full frame support at this point. Honestly it's not a bad one to do, there are a lot of little bits and some annoyances, but as far as turbo "kits" (this is really not even a kit) go you can't do much easier on a modern vehicle. The actual turbo install is a job someone experienced can do in a few hours and a first time installer can handle in a weekend being patient and careful. I'm very impressed by what this platform can offer given a fairly modest time investment in building, cost is another issue of course haha.

deciding between 710/810. how's city driving with the 710?? still enjoyable with sprited driving, or too much lag for around town?
@DmitrysGarage Жыл бұрын
There is really very little change in lag with the 710. I believe the 810 does bump the lag a little more, but its still surprisingly low rpm. These are twin scroll setups and the turbos are pretty efficiently sized for the performance targets. Its really not at all like throwing a big turbo kit on a 4-banger or a massively huge single turbo on an inline 6 or days past. I just spent an entire week driving downtown for an event i was attending and the car hustled through heavy traffic no problem.
@DigitalCowboy87 Жыл бұрын
If you have the choice definitely go with the 810, I've had both and there's really no downside to going with the 810. It could be because my 2021 is newer and has less miles than my 2018 had but i actually get better fuel economy with the 810 vs what I did with the 710 on my 2018 lol. I also feel like there's more turbo noises and overall the 810 and all the supporting mods just feels like a better package. Good luck!

why do you change that PCV hose that you put the heat shield on? I've watched other install videos and they don't mention that.

@@DmitrysGarage totally agree! Was just curious as to why you recommend to replace more parts than they do. Just good practice?
@DmitrysGarage Жыл бұрын
@@MrModz1999 i suspect they’re targeting a set price point. Its not uncommon to assume users may re-use parts that still look good. For instance my o-rings probably would have held up if lubed and re-inserted, but while ur in there why not swap them? Same with the clamp and fasteners. People often value total cost over potentially having to re-do work later. I remember when I didnt have my own shop like this, I used to always remind my mechanic to swap all those extras. Like hey we already have the heads off. Lets replace all the valve seals and springs… i don’t want to do that later again…

Great video! It's a nice addition to the other b9 hybrid turbo install videos out there as a reference when I install my 810. Did the turbo come with the lower pcv line that u replaced or is that an extra purchase?
@DmitrysGarage Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words. The turbo does not come with the lower PCV line, but I highly recommend snagging one. There is a link in the description. It's worth replacing it while the turbo is out because the upgraded model has a little bit of heat shielding and more can be added. That the turbo gets immensely hot.

So the lower PCV replacement was preventative? Is it known to fail? It's not something I've seen from my research so just curious.

Dont you need to prime the turbo since its new ?
@DmitrysGarage Жыл бұрын
I squirted in the bottle of the liqui moly pro-line additive, it’s specifically made for priming new turbos for a first start. There is not much oil capacity in there and it came with assembly oil in it, which actually made it kinda hard to squeeze the whole bottle in. Its a quick cut in the video but it took me like 10 minuted to slowly feed it in without overflowing. You can also inject some fresh oil with a syringe (without the needle) or turn the engine over with the fuel relays/fuses pulled if you’re extra paranoid, but as long as its not started dry it will be fine. The reality is oil pressure builds throughout the entire system almost instantly. So short of having bone dry bearings it will be fine.

You know instead of using a larger intercooler for cooling the air, why not make or develop an air-conditioner" assisted intercooler or "mini refrigerator" for cooling of the air for the turbocharger?? Saves on space and probably more efficient overall??
@DmitrysGarage Жыл бұрын
Thats been done in the past. The Dodge Demon actually does this. It used to be kind of a pipe dream like electric superchargers and never worked well, but both are becoming a thing. One challenge is having to run the AC system of course to make the cooling and complexity vs a simple air to air intercooler. It makes more sense on something like the demon that has a top mount supercharger and no factory front mount cooler, instead it has a water to air one right on top of the engine. The AC there really helps by chilling the water itself.
