Nightwish doesn't have a formula, but they have an unmistakable Nightwish sound, which comes from Tuomas (keys, composer) and Emppu (guitar). Stylistically they are really versatile and they go all over the map. Nightwish is definitely one of the most talented bands to ever hit the stage. Storytime (official live video) is usually good next step.

Nightwish will go metal and then Celtic, opera or sea shanties on you. I would recommend you get used to the opera mixed in the metal before venturing off into the epic nature of some of their songs. Devil in the Deep Dark Ocean, Noise. Dark Chest of Wonders, Planet Hell, Stargazers and Yours is an Empty Hope are a bit harder than their other stuff.

Floor has commented that she watches reactors reacting to her performances. The band seems to be aware that people do these videos and of the many reactors I follow I've never noticed any of them having blocked videos or hear them say they got copyright strikes on NW videos.

Nightwish claims everything without hesitation - 'Tank the Tech' had a video about them nearly a year ago, they know they're the most reacted to band and they take all they can... They may not claim a 'strike', but they get ownership / demonetization (for the creator) on *all* of these reactions.

Yes, that's live. lol. That... was a 3 octave glissando that Floor did in tandem with Marko. The studio version, from original lead singer Tarja Turunen era, only has his 2 octave slide. Marko sang quite a bit with them. Mostly backing or co-lead, but he did sing lead on a few, including The Islander and their cover/tribute of Pink Floyd's High Hopes. Unfortunately he decided to leave the band in 2021 for personal reasons after 2 decades. One of the heavier songs, and one of the few that Emppu really shreds on, they all play what the song needs, and aren't out there to show off. The song is about a romance that has died. It's over, time to move on. Where to go next? Since you like the heavier stuff, try Yours is an Empty Hope from the Wembley 2015 show.

The more you listen to them, the more you'll find that everything they do is in service of the music. They aren't your typical rock band (verse, verse, chorus, verse, solo, verse, chorus, finish). Nightwish's music isn't written, it's composed with layers of sounds, timing changes, key changes and musical transitions. Each song is different, yet somehow, still has a Nightwish feel. Enjoy the ride.

Epicness right there on that stage. The best live band ever in my humble opinion. I had not heard of Nightwish or Floor until around 12 months ago and had a bias against metal and assumed symphonic metal wouldn't be to my taste but OMG how wrong was I. So glad a friend pestered me in to giving this phenomenal band, all masters of their craft, a listen and I have since busied myself listening to the wonderful Tarja and Annette eras of Nightwish and now the incomparable Floor. 🙏👍😊♥️

The difference between Ghost Love Score and Romanticide is the same you'll hear in next songs, they don't do similar style songs. They have access to an orchestra, master keyboardist able to mimic almost anything, full metal band, a guy that plays 12 obscure instruments (you haven't seen him yet) and Floor who have limitless ways of singing. They are unbound by genre.

Guys I'm so glad that you started nightwish, is one of my 4 favourite bands (along with opeth, pantera and metallica). And I've seen a lot of concert but the nightwish one was....they are so incredible live, is a must to see. I'm so sorry that Marco left (the bass player), I loved his presence. Anyway, this song is from their album "Once", which is probably their heavier, you could try out "Dark chest of wonders" or "I wish I had an angel", even if my favourite is "FantasMic"

I'll only add that each nightwish song it's own unique gem. Often some have very unique sounds . Id suggest story time, or u want something very gentle but complex in singing execution try how's the heart. You want deep , u gotta wait. Explore, then ull be ready for poet and the pendulum, and the greatest show on earth. But u crave some folk fun try I want my tears back live. Always live shows pls. They just Excell when live. So, I love Nightwish for their sheer range of songs and styles they can get into. Tuomos' compostions. Empuu's solos, where for him, minimalistic and what fits the song is what he thinks is best and it is beautiful. Of course Floor, but Marko also. I highly recommend exploring them more. If this is more what you like, try Song of Myself from Wacken 2013 and/or Yours is an Empty Hope from Wembley. That said, my other favorite band. Based on this, you owe it to yourself to check out Lovebites. Flat out best metal band I have heard in ages, but where Nightwish is more symphonic, Lovebites is straight up power/thrash metal and they are amazing. I can't even point you to what yo react to from them, because it is all so good (like Nightwish) and all highlighting something different (also like Nightwish). I suppose Holy War, live from Zepp. Everyone starts there and it is a good place to start. You have to come back to them though for Thunder Vengeance (live from Zepp), Break the Wall, Set the World on Fire, Frozen Serenade, Swan Song (with the Chopin intro). And more. Like Nightwish, you won't find a bad song, but if metal and solos that blow your mind are what you're looking for, look no further.

Nice Reaction! Yes, Ghost Love Score is not a good representation of how hard rocking Nightwish is song to song, but most people tell reactors to start with that one because it really shows off Floor's singing ability. On Yours is an Empty Hope, Floor growls the chorus while Marco is singing it and it is a heavy song or Song of Myself, Storytime, Ghost River and Shudder Before the Beautiful, which is the opening song at their Wembley 2015 concert. Keep going!

Welcome back. No two songs are fully the same with Nightwish. Its hard for fans of this band to know what style of music reactors are into and what to recommend but if you want heavy try this one Yours is an Empty Hope. Live at Wembly Arena London. The reason why this concert is the sound quality is better and there's plenty of great camera shots. And a surprise from Floor's vocals just to show you how versatile she really is.

Romanticide and Ghost love score is from same album, this one being heavier, where Ghost love score might be more this fairytale symfonic adventure.. Back in the day I just didn't "get it" 1st time I saw the 2013 concert with Floor is when I really took notice. That was roughly 3 years ago. They have now become my favorite, hands down. Glad I've come to appreciate all the previous singers, really an amazing catalog!! Hope you keep digging in. 🤘

Marko is an amazing vocalist and an excellent duet partner for Floor. Another great duet partner for Floor is Simone Simons from Epica. Check out the song Sancta Terra from Epica's Retospect concert. Floor and Simone's voice blend perfectly.

Just two things to help you for your Nightwish journey if you wish to continue. First of all there is a reason why the composer and keyboardist of this band Tuomas Holopainen is called metal Mozart from the community. There is no such thing as "we need to put there a super fancy, fast, shredding solo". The 'solo' will be what it needs to be in order to feat well with the composition and the emotion they want to give you. For example imagine the previous song you did with a solo like Romanticide... It wouldn't be appropriate for the 'feel' of the music and lyrics. Romanticide is about bad relationship. It's fast, it's angry, it needs a solo like that. Second thing a really fun for us who are watching music reactions to this band is that you don't know it yet, but you are witnessing the female G.O.A.T. head voice, chest voice, growling, belting, operatic style, rock, pop, death metal in seven different languages. There are many crazy videos and documentaries about her. Fir example how she joined Nightwish, when the former singer couldn't continue tour with them due to some health conditions and she learned the set list in 48 hours. Another crazy one, when a producer of a talk show asked her to sind the phone catalogue and she nailed it 😅 If you wish for heavy song you should try 'Yours is an empty hope' (live from Wembley) were she growls in all the choruses!!! Some other heavy and beautiful songs are: Devil and the deep dark ocean (live Buenos Aires), Ghost river (live at Wacken) and 'Seven days to the wolves' (live at Wembley). It's ok to like heavier songs but if you choose to stick with those, you will lose all the magic of this band and the amazing feelings that gives you. If you are ready for an all in journey, next stop is "Storytime" (live at Wacken). Whatever you choose Nightwish army will be there. Greetings from Greece 🤘🇬🇷

"Storytime" next please... "Live" Wacken 2013 again. Being Symphonic Metal allows them to take the music just about anywhere. From the long epic scores like GLS to the more classic metal style... and just about everything in between. They even have songs with a bit of that Celtic rock kind of vibe. But no matter what kind of song style they are going for, you're bound to near some of those signature symphonic elements that seem to give the music that extra rich, full sound.

All vocals Floor, Troy and Marco do in their conserts are actually *live* . Thus that glissando in the end of the song is live (you wondered if it's live) and Floor and Marco have done that many times live and everytime it has sounded a little different due to the fact that they're not machines that can sing these notes identically a consert after consert. In one consert Floor went up to F6 with that glissando when here the highest part is D6. That D6 is completely in her range and her vocal control is outstanding. It's not anywhere the most difficult thing she has done with her voice; she has done much challenging things for example in her previous band Revamp.

Great seeing you reacting to my favorite band ever once again. A small caveat though, if you are into shredding guitar solos and other musicians showing off, this is not the band for you. They have no ego and only care about playing what the song needs. They play and sing what adds to the melody of the song and are not interested whatsoever in showing off for their own gratification.

As I said in the GLS video, Nightwish is extremley versatile and good musicians, Tuomas (keyboardist) is the mastermind behind their music and lyrics (go som some lyrics analysis, you be amazed.. You will get a lot of suggestions in the comments, so just keep exploring, a lot of reactors says that they are always surprised after listen to e new Nightwish song, its never what you expect, Tuomas takes you an a journey ;) Hope to soo you back to Nightwish soon :)

Pantera was the band that brought Floor her husband Hannes van Dahl, the drummer of Sabaton, together. Pantera, sigars, and whiskey to be more precise.

Dubbed? Oh none of the symphonic metal queens (Simone from Epica, Sharon from Within Temptation, Charlotte...formerly with Delain, or Floor here with NW), would EVER have a dub for their voice. These queens are at the top of the contemporary vocal world...most of them, other than Sharon, even having considerable amount of classical training. The women are vocal heavyweights.

You need to listen to all era's of Nightwish they've had three singers. Floor is their current ... Tarja (Tarya ) was first then Annette Olzen then Floor Emppu (guitar) only does what the song needs but he can shred with the best ... PS Jukka ( youka ) is a Beast (drums)

I think your heavier pallet would enjoy "Your's is an empty hope" (Wembley), "Ghost River" (Wacken) or "Song of myself" (Wacken)... Nightwish has a very wide variety of genres in their music. Symphonic elements are always there as are the metal elements... so I guess Symphonic metal is the best lable available.

I bet you'd really enjoy Yours is an Empty Hope by Nightwish ;-) Listen, Ghost Love Score is just a good introduction to what they can do for non-metal people. For you, it was probably the wrong one. They've got several other excellent metal tunes. And once you're in love with them, you'll probably enjoy their more symphonic stuff as well!
