You could always pitch a one shot with the monster transformations. Tempt them with some of the high level ones and see if any of them are interested in that. You also don't have to go full dark fantasy but try to ease them into it.

Gotta say, daemonologist wizard sounds pretty interesting both in mechanics and concept presented. With divine powers you could roleplay John Dee and with daemonic spells you could be Al'hazred

The Oath of Slaughter reminds me of World Eaters from Warhammer 40K "Khorne cares not from where the blood flows, as long as it flows. I could totally see a Karhn the betrayer-like paladin, maybe tormented by his bloodlust. Also the daemonoligist gives me major Eisenhorn Vibes from the Warhammer Inquisitor novels. Ghostfire be honest, how many subclasses have been inspired by 40K? Note: Just realized if you take Book of Shadows at Lv3 then Agonizing Blast at Lv6 you have an eldritch blasting Wizard! I love this subclass even more now!

Always loved the idea of an Intelligence based Warlock. Your character doesn't have to be stupid to not be able to learn magic, but maybe they needed power now instead of needing time to study.

@zzfrute a paladin of slaanesh could revolve around not lust, but perfection and the strive for it, taken to their extreme end, slaanesh is called "the perfect prince" not randomly.

@paolobucci2761 it was a joke, because slaanesh was created from Eldar satisfying there depraved urges, and nothing about her is perfect, though vanity is a great theme. They actually tried that concept with the way of Pride Monk subclass, though it wasn't executed that well.

@@zzfrute If they redo Way of Pride I hope its something like if a creature attacks you, the next time you hit them you deal an additional damage dice based on your martial arts die, and you gain temporary hit points anytime you hit a creature that hit you.

The Kickstarter for these Grim Hollow books are due for fulfilment in Nov 2025. Digital copies, including platforms like D&D Beyond, may be earlier but we don’t have a specific launch date announced yet.

I understand that bloodied simply mean covered in blood and not some other condition? Also just to make sure, sangromancy spells require both the spell slot and the hit die yes?

Bloodied is a rule, meaning a creature or character is below half their maximum hit points. It’s a condition reintroduced into 5e 2024. Indeed, Sangromancy needs both a spell slot and hit dice spent, though the spells tend to be a little more powerful than is typical for its spell level. We did a full video on Sangromancy for more clarity, linked in the cards.

Great question! Sangromancy will always work for the PC’s-all player Species native to the setting have blood-and most monsters who feature it in their stat block also bleed (like vampires and downcast). That said, the rules don’t actually stipulate a creature needs to have blood to cast Sangromancy spells. In these circumstances (i.e choosing a player species from outside the setting) perhaps the caster is drawing on some other life force similar to Necromancy.

Dude, the term `new´ contradicts classes like paladins of slaughter, which were already known in original #Ravenloft campaign settings (AD&D, before D&D 3.5 which is long gone).

These specific subclasses are not in the earlier Grim Hollow Player’s Guide for 5e 2014, no. They’ve been newly designed for Grim Hollow Transformed, for 5e 2024.
