If Alivast wants to win this war, they have to fully utilize the shear unpredictability of the people, plants, animals, and magic of their home. Paratin only knows how humans (and maybe elves) think, they will never understand the ways of war from the mind of orcs, cobalts, and goblins. The goblins and cobalts can dig tunnels underground and attack them from below and move supplies without detection. Tabaxi and kegnco can scout and confuse the enemy with their quick speed and voice mimicry. The lizard folk and tridents can attack from the water with ease(plus lizard folk can make improvised weapons and armor from the corpses of their enemies). The orcs, goliaths, gnoles, and bugbears can lead the charge against paratin with their powerful and durable builds(plus the orcs and bugbears and attack at night thanks to night vision). Not to mention Teflings scare the living crap out of those people so having an army of them attack will definitely hurt their morale. Plus if the constructs and dwarfs work together they can throw together really solid and durable outposts real quick. Lastly, all they need now is the elves on their bows and the humans doing whatever their good at, paratin will never know what happened. The only other thing they need to win is to gather some ersiphin and bring them with the non-magical troops so none of the clerics or paladins can use their magic.

I feel like you guys overlooked a real possibility: The God Eater is the one speaking to Periton, and it's trying to clean up the only evidence of its existence. Think about this: Lys didn't try to usurp Stillhavity or Orun. Ith was trying to save Omnimaw. Oryara collects pieces and has no corruption. If the God Eater went after Lysalivast and couldn't finish the job, it would make sense that they would want to clean up. Especially if the gathered fragments can access Etheal and restore some of their power.

Oh I already posted before reading this thread but let me share my thoughts: It seems pretty obvious to me that Lys is NOT a god eater. It was pretty well established that Lys is a dead god. He apologized for Stillhavity consuming a piece of Lysalivast to gain the power to enter dreams, the demon's journal called the Attic crystal the skull of a dead god, Lys was able to speak in Celestial to Solar giving him good advice, and Oryara the robot god seemed on pretty good terms with Lys / his fragments. Lys even sacrificed himself to save the Unexpectables which does not bespeak of evil to me. I could make a longer list but that's a start. Rather I think the fake Speaker is influenced by or actually is the God Eater itself. The grey spore-ichor that was in Athtar was also draining Omnimaw and would have killed him... and Lys' fragment was even trying to save Omnimaw! I would bet the God Eater is the one that killed Lys. Or Lys made some kind of sacrifice to stop or bind the God Eater, one that the God Eater is now trying to get rid of by destroying the crystal. Also explains why Lys tried to hide himself. One last thought: Icarus doesn't take off his helmet because he's corrupted more so than Athtar and it shows. Or he's a Revanent. Or both. I wish they had insighted him more, mysterious new big bad seeming guy and all.

This session contains what is easily the most blatant and irrefutably mutual Greckles x Solly scene in the entire series. We may not be getting Borky x Lily or even Panic x Helena, but at least this ship still seems to have a very real chance of happening.

Personally I read borky x lily as a pure friendship because we've seen how he reacts to having a crush (ie. Starlight) and I think the way he's talks about lily is alot more like how he talks about log.

@@an8strengthkobold360 You're not the first person to think so. I still believe that Borky and Lily would be the most entertaining couple in the campaign by far. Though I'm more than willing to admit that Taka has moved on from even considering the possibility. Most of the actual ship fuel between them took place during Lily's debut all the way back in session 3. There was an undeniable spark between Lily and Borky back then, with him even describing her bear form as "sexy" at one point. But yes, Taka has long since seemingly friendzoned Lily. I think the main reason for this is the fact that Limes being in a very different timezone, simply can't be around to play Lily more than once or twice every blue moon. Though to be fair, Starlight who never really had a personality or any real chemistry with Borky was never around either.(Monty later revealed that Starlight never had any real feelings towards Borky in the first place) To me, the running gag of Borky having a crush on Scarbbles of all people is awkward, uncomfortable and just doesn't work. They have a lot of great chemistry, but only as comedic foils. I just for the life of me cannot see them as lovers. All the power to the people who do, though. Truth be told I don't take this series as seriously as I used to. At least I think I don't. But it is true that I don't care what actually happens by the end of the actual Unexpectables anymore. I've been rewriting the entire series with some friends in private. We've tightened things up, cut out some particularly pointless and boring filler here and there, retconed some of the particularly stupid, character derailing events such as Greckles and Panic's little night of debauchery at the romanchine during session 26, and since we're not held back by the limitations of whether or not guests are available in our format, guest characters are far more frequently involved. Rivi was actually present at Willow's and Doro's wedding and plays a major role at the proceedings for just one small example. Lily's become heavily involved with the group in our version. To the point where she's almost become as frequent an adventuring member of the party as Remy has.(not quite though) And she and Borky are definitely ending up together..... I don't know why I'm telling you all of this, I guess I just felt like getting some things off my chest. Oh well.

I don't really comment here at all but I have a crazy theory: What If the thing talking to the speaker is like a malicious piece of Lys? like a fragment that is trying to become a whole but the biggest thing stopping it is the Attic as the Attic is a "Whole" while this thing is a fragment it can't eat the Whole or it will get swallowed up but if it can break the whole shatter it into smaller fragments then it can devour them. I kind of agree with this. I have a theory that the stuff that infested Omnimaw and Athtar came from a common source: the propaganda spread by the Speaker. I kind of want Panic to ask his mother if she ever fed a voice from the United Clergy to Omnimaw. If whatever is speaking to the Speaker is corrupting the UOC, like some kind of poisonous voice, and the weird mycelium stuff is a physical representation of that, then that would explain how it came to infect Omnimaw. The only reason I think that it might be some fragment of Lys is how formless the mycelium is. It's like it's formed by something barely clinging to existance, maybe only existing as a vile voice of corruption. We don't know if Lysalivast was a *nice* god, after all. Maybe some malicious fragment of that god was wafting through the aether and found an ear on which it could settle and burrow in to grow strong. Like dust, drifting directionless divine.

Task when he wore the mask: scared and confused Aos: Was originally reluctant to leave Oreyara because it knew what happened to beings like them on the Material Plain, it was scared to leave its constant and was confused to why Lys would risk so much to be there. Perhaps when they put on the mask they feel what it’s like to be their designated fragment... I don’t know but I’m predicting that Greckles’ fragment will have some duty that keeps it from doing what’s right, suffocated in a way, and then Borky’s will be broken in some manner

The stuff concerning Tiengo, especially what he said to get Icarus and co. to back off has me wondering if maybe Icarus is as fake as the Speaker he’s taking orders from and the actual champion of Oron is Tiengo. It would explain why he’s so powerful and has had quite a few pet the dog moments throughout the story despite his reputation; similar to Solly at the start of the campaign (and Pilchard when the guys first meet him) personal history has him basically reject that role.

I think most of that comes from not playing the game for a really long time and then coming back to the Beowulf bossfight and Mission 15 (where the camera is at its worst). That and she also has not utelized the lock-on feature at all, which prevents her from utelizing the dodge roll, which would probably fix a lot of her problems. That being said, everyone is entitled to their opinion though. If it is not her kind of game, thats fine.

So the Black goop is the trace of the God eater right? That’s why it was found on Omnimaw in a weakened state. It seems like It’s feeding on Orun too, which is why Orun is dying, and possessing it’s body or interposing itself between the UCO and Orun. Bob Seems to be the speaker, as he has direct access to a piece of Orun which was separated from it’s realm prior to the God eater’s arrival. My current theory is that Lys, Yth, and the rest are fragments of some kind of anti-god eater, ( possibly the God Source or protector) capable of banishing or sealing the God eater or restoring Gods. I suspect that Etheal is a further fragment in a different form, and that it ( and potentially the God eater itself, scattering it in a similar way) was shattered in conflict with the God Eater. Just some pondering.

Theory maybe? Lys isn't the God-eater. The crystal is. That's why people could start hearing Lys' name after they regained one of his fragments. He was a dead God, but them learning about him and who he was is bringing him back in some sense. The more of him they recover, the more the crystal reacts. Because they are undoing it's work. Lys was the God Lysalivast. But he was killed. By the crystal? Idk I just like thinking 😂

A god eater deciving the UCO into thinking the attic host the god eater is not out of the realm of possibilities. Maybe the god eater isn't as literal as the name implies and it does the "eating" by misderacting the prayers to it rather then oren.

Catching back up but aw man I wanted to slap some sense into the boys. It seems pretty obvious to me that Lys is NOT a god eater. It was pretty well established that Lys is a dead god. He apologized for Stillhavity consuming a piece of Lysalivast to gain the power to enter dreams, the demon's journal called the Attic crystal the skull of a dead god, Lys was able to speak in Celestial to Solar giving him good advice, and forgive me I can't think of her name, but the robot god seemed on pretty good terms with Lys / his fragments. Lys even sacrificed himself to save the Unexpectables which does not bespeak of evil to me. I could make a longer list but that's a start. Rather I think the fake Speaker is influenced by or actually is the God Eater itself. The grey spore-ichor that was in Athtar was also draining Omnimaw and would have killed him... and Lys' fragment was even trying to save Omnimaw! I would bet the God Eater is the one that killed Lys. Or Lys made some kind of sacrifice to stop or bind the God Eater, one that the God Eater is now trying to get rid of by destroying the crystal. Also explains why Lys tried to hide himself.
