My Dragonlance campaign switched to the 2024 rules when they dropped, and my Dwarf Champion became a monster. Farmer background, Dwarf, Durable at level 6, Heavy Armor Master at 8, and Indomitable has made me nigh unkillable. Heavy Weapon style & GRM at 4 mean my damage is consistently high, and weapon mastery has made combo attacks with the team a fun minigame in combat. Definitely recommend this build.

You know ranged isn't actually that big of a weakness of this build! The Great Weapon Master feat also applies to Longbows and Heavy Crossbows, as long as you assigne a decent Dexterity when you build the character (like a 14 probably) or use an ASI to bump it, you can add proficiency bonus damage to your attacks made with those weapons

I am looking to play the new Path of the World Tree barbarian. I would like to maximize as many of its abilities and flavor as possible, and was wondering if you could do a build on it. Thank you.

Hmm I might recommend world tree barb with a greataxe or a halbard, so you can get cleave, then take some hunter ranger levels for hoard breaker. Stand next to one enemy, teleport another to you, reckless attack. Thats four attacks with advantage at level 8, more consistent at lv9 when you can teleport enemies to you. Maybe take great weapon master as your feat so you can boost each attack and potentially get bonus action attacks after. Flavor works well too, nature magic plus world tree barbarian, take a bunch of plant based spells and maybe jump for high mobility and xure woulds so you can support out of combat. @DnD_Daily

This was my first build in 2024. Originally thought about Barbarian but realised the advantage from prone was wasted by the advantage I already had from reckless attack.
@dyslxeic2 ай бұрын
If going Two-handed Barbarian think about Great Sword or anything with Graze. Gives you a few points of damage for those times you miss. Also good if you are up against anything with really high AC or times when you give up your advantage to use brutal strikes since missing means you'll still do 4-5 damage.

@@dyslxeicyeah I pretty quickly realised the best weapon for barbs now is the great sword and polarms. Also longsword is pretty funny. Hitting with advantage but removing theirs

I love the build like always! IMO, the new berserker barbarian does it better though. Reckless fixes your advantage problem and also lets you have more hits overall, as well as increase your critical hit chance. You also can take the farmer background for free tough feat, and when you get to level 4, take the new GWM feat. I know some people are still fans of the old GWM, but having extra damage while still not taking a decrease to your to hit mod is REALLY good, I would argue depending on your character masteries, even better than the old GWM at least IMO. Because you’re doing slightly less damage in exchange for hits, which hitting is what triggers your weapon effects. The best thing though, is the Frenzy ability. It’s an extra 2d6 damage to your first attack in the turn, and it scales with your rage. Just for context, let’s say you have a greatsword, and attack with Advantage, which hits. You trigger frenzy off of reckless, here’s what an attack would look like at level 4. 2d6 + str (which is probably a +4 because of GWM) +2 +2 +2d6 If you take the greataxe for cleave, you get an extra attack, but also, with ANY heavy weapon, if you get a kill or a crit (which, let’s be honest here- you’re doing ABSURD damage, so you absolutely will) you get to make ANOTHER attack as a bonus action. Keep in mind, these damage increases aren’t static either. GWM goes off of proficiency bonus, and frenzy goes off of rage. This means that you will have better scaling throughout your entire game than other Martials. The best part is, the sheer versatility. Your skillset is based all around damage, fitting your “world is nails, i am a hammer” but you also can get some skill buffs by using your strength during rage. Making it not so much a versatility thing, but more a matter of your presence just putting off that sort of large, intimidating factor, or your body being so well trained that your senses are incredibly honed. Or maybe you have a history in hunting, and know how to move in an almost predatory fashion, staying stealthy while not giving up any of your obvious advantage against your target. Plus, tbh 3 levels in barbarian for berserker is so good that if you wanted to multi class into champion fighter for it, it would just make champion better overall. But to be honest? Everything this build can do, berserker can kind of just. Do even better. For context:I have an Aasimar with the inner radiance trait who uses this build based off of the Greek mythos of Ares? And his damage goes CRAZY. I literally tried to balance it out by building him towards heavy weapons, but making him use a longsword and shield to limit himself in battle, up until either he’s genuinely in fear for his life, or the adrenaline kicks in and he starts getting carried away from enjoying the fight too much. But even then, with the longsword (could be any weapon, I just chose that for thematic reasons) which keep in mind he DOESNT have mastery in due to my idea with him limiting himself, he does INSANE damage. He’s level 4, and his current DPR is averaged around 15-17 with the longsword, and 22-24 with the greatsword. This is without using his Aasimar ability.

It has been while since we had Tome of Beast 2 monsters, eh? Listing time! Keelbreaker Crab More sea monsters coming up! Husk Random Necromancer: Waste not, want not! A-mi-kuk Playing game that takes place in arctic area? Well, heres a good monster to add in Brain Hood Is that bear with wizard hat a mighty druid you guys were send to meet? Nope, just some psychotic alien parasite possessing the bear and out for blood. Dimensional Shambler I noticed that there was again a lot of "straightforward bruisers" as a appetisers, so I finish this list with forrific main course. Locusthound Just for fun, Both crickets and wolves are know to cannibalize their dead so if players are attacked by multible and manage to downsome of them, I'd descripe some locushounds turning their attention on their dead/dying pack mates and withous hesitation feast on them. If enough of them start to do this, it could serve as good distraction for party run to get to safety?

I would make the champion an EK and green flame blade with a great axe + cleave + GWM in those pesky fights with multiple critters for 6-7 attacks + 1 cleave + 2 green flames to clear the area at lvl 11.

Heroic Inspiration is better than Advantage because you use it after seeing your roll. So getting one every turn is ridiculous for the Champ Fighter because by then you're likely to miss at least once.
