I replaced my stock coils with a set of red ones I ordered through ECS tuning for under $100. No idea if they are the Audi R8 coils, however I’m very surprised at the responsiveness the engine now has. Instant throttle response, and no turbo lag thanks to the IE manifold. 👍

The red Bosch ones are the r8 ones others are made by ECS etc.. you should be able to look at it in the site and search the reference number

I prefer ngk plugs. AND NGK COILS. yes, audi r8, ngk brand. (Retrofitted on my s52 turbo bmw motor)

just got the k04-001XL turbo, in process of welding up a header/manifold for it. Already have the red tops, do you use copper plugs? or the plat/irid?

i just use ngk7, gapped at .27 , i tried iridium ix, 7 and 8 , and it was pulling as hard, because of the heat range i didn't use copper, i had a head break before on the electrodes, because tyhe spark plug was to hot. would go below 7 range

Hey bruce! Im looking at R8 coil packs on ecs tuning and it says it doesnt fit on audi a4 b9 Quattro is that true or its just saying that because coil is for R8 .. and it fits in audi a4 b9 Quattro? And with r8 coils which spark plugs would u highly recommend? Rs7 spark plugs ? Rs4? Lmk ty!

yes that's the route I took, when I went ko4 I was having engine hick ups and hesitated at high rpms, once I switched it went away

Hello. Ya I've got a tuned MK6 GTI, basically same engine 2.0 TSI Turbo. My boost is currently running at 22-25, Tourque is not bad at 285 to close to 300. Was thinking of the A8 coil and based on your review it just might be worth the dollars. Thanks for the review. I'll let you know what the diff is. Peace to you.

Paul Crawford I noticed when I got around 370 horse power and my boost was around 25 to 26, I started getting engine flutter around 90mph, it was like a jerking feel, and misfires. I thought it was my spark plug gap, or I needed a colder spark plug, but it would not go away, once I went with the Audi R8 coil, Ted or black top it immediately went away, and I got the full potential of my car, they come with a higher heat range, and give a bigger spark, so the boost dose not blow it out, which was the problem I was having. You may be missing out on some power, because your numbers are getting a little high but it’s not mandatory unless you go higher up in. Boost level, are you running revo

APR indicates that they don't work from the energy derived but then again they are trying to sell their own which they say has 10% more energy delivery than stock. Question I have though is there such a thing as too powerful a spark?

@@brucecustommotors runs good! don't have the water meth running yet I need a tune I've tried it on it's lwoest setting and bogged down pretty bad. the stage 2 is amazing definitely the best per dollar upgrade for our car IMO. the ko4 seems reliable but I may considering going t3/t4 because I'm cheap

5wift Johnson you can get them from the Audi dealership, but eBay is cheaper, just look up oem r8 coils and make sure it has the serial number, I’ll update a link

Greetings! I run a 1.8tsi with gtx2867.. i also have red r8 coils.. do you have any suggestions about injectors..? I hear about 2.0 tsi s3 8v from gen3 engine applications.. that work.. any other working suggestions? Thanks!

Yes s3 injectors a 100% I was running lean from time to time with out them , my air flow from my tune and mods was creating more air than the stock fuel injectors could handle, once I put them in it felt like I got a tune lol, I was able to optimize the full force of the new added boost, but there 2 different s3 injectors mine took the s3 2015 and above, I’m not sure if the 1.8 takes 2014 and below, the only difference is the plug, just fyi

it helps with high boost applications, it gives you your full power, as it has more fire, and voltage, were as the oem ones Can taper off and loose spark when tuned with aggressive tunes, I would say stage 2 and above would benefit, as under stage two does not push enough boost. to effect your spark.
