also, I have red coil packs on my car but I don't know that they're R8 coils. they're OE/equivalent and they were only sold as red packs or black packs. so my question is are all vw red packs the same as these "R8" packs or are these special and my coil packs just happen to look like these

why would you ever use a pry bar?! just take two zip ties, lock them into a big loop, slide one zip under the front of the coil and one zip under the connector side of the coil and then pull them both up with one hand, it pulls the coil evenly, causes no damage, and is very easy to do. and costs about 2¢

Check engine light concern. Hey Guys, After you change the spark plugs and coils will the check engine light reset on its own or do you have to clear the codes to make it go away. I changed my plugs and coils and the problem is gone....car idles perfectly, but Check engine light is on. Any ideas?
