Do BIG pike still live here?

Back to the old haunt for some pike fishing, I wonder if it still holds some monsters?

The Vale. Loved that place. Thank you. Grew up fishing there and the other ponds as a youngster between 1965-73. Best pike came from the second pond at South End Green one summer not too many years ago. It was maybe 15lb, on a lure (a soft plastic pike imitation), two or three casts in. The reason that I fished that day was that workers on the Underground were on strike, and being based in West Hampstead couldn't go into town. So I just walked to the Heath for a fish.

Amazing little pond. Use to fish there a lot when I was living in Hendon Central and YES. I can confirm that there is still big pike in there. Caught one in October last year, was 12.07lbs and 90cm. Caught on Rapala Peto.

Cool vid 😎.. personally, I use an 80lb soft flouro uptrace just because if the fish roles, the thicker gauge flouro doesn't cut into the fish like braid or wire would. 😊 also steps the braid away from the bait safely meaning you can fish a shorter trace wire (far more manageable than meter long traces you don't want to kink up) the flouro can be used a million times over and is way better at bringing a bait down naturally than adding a weight. A bit like fly fishing, I suppose, weight forward.. but I freeline most of my baits, so what do I know 😆 good vid 👍

Near me the fish shop sells a bag with about 30 spratts in for ................wait for it one pound fifty 😮 great deal so before I took my son pike fishing I went a few times and threw a bag in a area maybe 5 times before going and then on the day I took him not long after setting up he caught his fist pike and honestly it was 13.5 pounds 👌 He was over the moon and so was I. He was only 11 at the time Back to the point You should try baiting up for pike as people do baiting up for carp as it works ask my lad Jacob first ever bike 13.5 pound he was well happy of a canal as well 🏆

Seems like only yesterday (11 years ago) watching a younger Alfie fishing at Hampstead Heath during a Nash feature! Love how diverse your angling is mate, I’m quite the same, no matter what the species as long as I’m next to water with a line out am happy ❤
