Do Colocasia Elephant Ear Plants Like Water? See How the Colocasia Plants in My Tropical Garden Grow

What happens when Colocasia Elephant Ear plants are given lots of water? Do the roots rot causing the plant to die? Or does extra water make Colocasia plants grow larger? I have many Colocasia plants in my tropical garden and give them lots of water. I buried a tarp in my garden to hold extra water, and I overwinter the Colocasias in my greenhouse with the roots sitting in water. See the results of giving Colocasias lots of water!

I’m in zone 9a on the east coast. The few frosty nights I get are enough to kill the tops of my Colocasias and Alocasias but the corms are safe in the ground. I have potted some in my limited garage space but never tried keeping them in water. Going to try that but one question, have you ever done the same with Alocasias ?
