You should keep the sond meter at the same distance so we compare apple to apples. Maybe even at the distance police would keep them when measuring the sound.

My problems with stock dB killers in bikes is that they don't just make it quiet (which i don't mind) but also it changes the tune, often cutting low frequency leaving mid ones turning exhaust into lawn mower. You got really nice ones that didn't ruin the sound

I wonder if you could, with the right tool, perhaps a cutting wheel on a flex shaft, make some cuts in the original baffles to let a bit more sound out, rather than removing them completely like you did. Thanks for the series of videos.

@thebritonabike10 ай бұрын
Absolutely it will work and reduce the decibels on any sort of exhaust / muffler but whatever insert you add needs to be a tight fit and a good seal to reduce the bark .. by how much ? I don't know ! Thanx for watching and continued safe riding to you.

how loud would you say these are now compared to before then even had the original baffles taken out? I am in a position where i really am not sure if i want to spring for 800 dollar pipes and a tune to go with it. But i still want just a bit louder than stock (enough to be heard a bit when lane filtering). I dont suppose you would need a tune with this set up either, as it has the cat and everything still.
@thebritonabike Жыл бұрын
Have you watched my other videos on the Guzzi Exhaust modification ? That will likely answer your questions. I was in exactly the same position as you - hence the cheap Mod - no need for expensive after market pipes. Just cut out the existing stock baffles and enjoy HUGE sound. If it's 2 much for you - add the drop in baffles to tone it down. NO tune or mapping required. Just an FYI .. LOUD PIPES DO NOT SAVE LIVES .. stop kidding yourself. ADD some decent additional BRIGHT lights to your bike and be SEEN long before you are heard. Stay safe and ride safely !

Measurements of noise levels require a much more elaborate method. Just holding the "meter" by hand in random location and measuring with no engine load is not better than just using hear...dB killers should not be an option for any serious exhaust maker. If the exhaust can't be efficient AND silent enough at the same time, then it's just unfair to give the user the choice of efficient OR silent enough. My Yoshimura has no optional dB killer and reach a good balance of Performance and Sound level. It would be even nicer if changing the packing was easier...but it's another story
@thebritonabike8 ай бұрын
I agree completely BUT this experiment was simply to see if a cheap and available sound baffle / db killer insert made any difference to the overall sound of my exhaust. And if it does change the sound by how much ? I am sure that if you wanted to further reduce the sound on your Yoshi exhaust you could find a similar suitable insert and rivet it or screw it in place. My Suzuki GSF Bandit 1250cc has a Yoshi exhaust and I love the sound it makes .... like you say a good balance of performance and noise .... although increased performance for any 'slip on' mufflers is a highly unlikely as many dyno tests have proven. I wish you continued safe riding !

does dp killer makes engine heat faster because it makes exhaust gases to flow slower
@thebritonabike11 күн бұрын
Without very sophisticated sensors and a rolling road / to measure the HP at the backtire it would be impossible to measure the differences before and after the mods - but I am sure No - the main exhaust system / Headers takes care of all of that - it just muffles the sound.No temperature issue running hotter on the bike. I wish you continued safe riding.

@@craig_sez8534 I agree with you 100% that any and all modification to any exhaust system will likely make a difference (sometimes big sometimes small) in performance , mpg and sound, especially if you spend a ton of money dyno'ing your bike before during and after to monitor and note all the changes. All I did to this bike was pull the internal baffles on a stock muffler and add aftermarket baffles to tame it down. I didn't dyno the bike - but to me there has been no change in performance, or mpg. Just a bit more sound. Stay safe out there on 2 wheels !

@thebritonabike2 ай бұрын
@@snowlothar45 I completely agree with you - but the point of the video was NOT to make my bike crazy loud it was to see if by doing a simple and cheap mod - could I get a deeper more resonate tone like with custom pipes or slip ons that can cost many hundreds $ if not thousands $. It is also VERY easy to ride a motorcycle with a loud custom exhaust quietly. Just use a lot less throttle and cruise in a higher gear and the neighbors won't be as offended or annoyed. Being a responsible motorcyclist means setting a good example - and that includes not gunning your engine late at night or early in the morning in residential neighborhoods. I wish you continued safe riding.
