Obesity is just an added risk, especially with regards to kidney function. If one kidney is removed ,the other will be doing more work so functioning might be affected. More so if obesity is an issue.

Siblings overweight and don’t exercise all good for them🤷🏻‍♀️ my dr said it’s genetic. Trying to be and eat healthy is good but not the answer God is ultimately in charge😉😊

He's told by his kidney doctor to limit protein and No Salt! Apparently, salt is very damaging to the kidney. I cook for my parents as I'm plant based and s.o.s free(salt, oil, sugar free). Good luck losing weight. Focus on oatmeal and berries in the morning, potatoes and lots of veggies, beans that will satiate you during the day. You can do it!!

Plant protein isn’t absorbable to the human body, we need animal protein which comes from meat, dairy products and eggs. They’re super nutritious foods. He had no symptoms at all. His tumor was about 7cm. We live in Canada, the doctor here removed it and then did the biopsie. The cancer was agressive but it was removed on time and did not spread anywhere. The surgery went well and he’s living very well with one kidney. Brian - your symptoms with the extreme gas, pain in the colon (especially if it's in the lower left area of lower abdomen) and chills/fever all sound identical to hubby's diverticulitis. "A colonoscopy is generally considered safe, but there is a small risk of complications, including the potential to exacerbate existing diverticular disease." You may have the condition and the colonoscopy exacerbated the diverticulitis when you got home from the procedure. If you do indeed have the condition, is it is manageable by avoiding things like seeds, kernels, etc. which get stuck in the "pocket" -- Please know we are praying for you during the biopsy and subsequent treatments.

I suffered from it as a teenager which i believe was triggered by my father’s continued ill health during that time. Occasionally now many years later ive been fine in that regard but i recognize the occasional flare up when i am feeling particularly stressed. Back in the day they prescribed donnatal which is a belladonna derivative that mildly tranquilizes the colon to relax the spasms. Im not sure if its still used but it was effective. Your complaint sounds exactly what i had experienced and i am sure that with all thats been going on in your life there is no shortage of stress.

I had colon cancer when I was 36. I had the rectal bleeding for 7 years, and dr's put it off, saying it was fissures or hemorrhoids. I was supposed to have a colonoscopy at one point, but I became pregnant, so it was put off again. I always had severe stomach pain before going to the bathroom. When I finally had my scope in 2015, 3 polyps were removed. I had 2 types of cancer. One was slow growing and the other more aggressive. I ended up having major surgery to remove my entire rectum and prior to that they did a bunch of scans to make sure it didn't spread. I didn't need to have chemo or radiation either with mine, because it was found on time. It seems like things are happening younger and younger these days! My son just had a colonoscopy Friday and he's 24. He was diagnosed with ulcerative proctitis. He had a scope 3 years ago and there was only slight inflammation, that didn't require any intervention and now he has bleeding and has to use medicated suppositories to calm the flare up. They took 4 biopsies to check the level of chronicity. Sending positive vibes your way!!

Based on their videos they have been vegan on and off not for long period of time. Let us try not mis inform people by saying that vegans are getting cancer more than often. In a lot cases People actually start vegan diet when there is a problem to fix. The proper Vegan diet actually helps prevent cancer and help to recover as well. My best wishes to you guys. My prayers are with you.

I had a heart MRI and it found a 7cm mass in my kidney. It was in the cantre so I had my kidney removed. That was 7 years ago and I am living happily with my one and only kidney. There is no treatment other than a nephrectomy. Just about all kidney cancers are found accidentally and thats great because its early before ever you get any real symptoms. We are very lucky to have had these accidental cancer finds. Good luck, you will be fine I am sure ❤

I'm not trying to talk anybody out of a plant-based diet but I'm seeing an awful lot of vegans get diagnosed with cancer young, I can't help but wonder if there is something about all the vegetables. Pesticides?

Wouldn’t kidney stones show up on a ct scan? I’m just wondering if that was brought up that possibility. Praying for you.

Kidney Stones will typically show up on a CT scan. They will typically NOT show up on ultrasound or X-Ray. I have extensive (unfortunately) experience with kidney stones & kidney disease in general. I have a rare autoimmune disease that affects both my kidneys. Lucky me (sarcasm) stones are part of it. That said, it’s not cancer so always extremely grateful. Sending Positive Thoughts and Strength your way. ✨🫶🏻

I was vegetarian for 10 years. I understand the ethical thoughts behind not eating meat. Recently however I've discovered that a plant-based diet is actually terrible for us. Pesticides are only the tip of it. Our guts can't actually break down plant celluose very well (it's why we can't eat grass) so while spinach is full of iron, we can't access the iron easily because we can't break down the tissue easily. But plants also contain defence chemicals, these include lectins and oxaltes. Have a read about what they do to the body. Oxalates are essentially tiny crystals which form into kidney stones. Your sad news here should be waving a red flag about what you are eating. Have a listen to Dr. Ken Berry and Dr. Anthony Chaffee. And I wish you good luck.

Plant based doesn’t mean healthy eating !! You can be plant based with zero processed food eating basically fruits and vegetables etc or you can be eating vegan Oreos 🤷🏻‍♀️ both are plant based .. zero meanness intended but they are not healthy plant based or they would not be overweight! I am plant based and over weight so I’m speaking from experience 💛

Yes, they got sick after 3 years of being off their healthy whole food lifestyle. They've been eating rancid oils and ultra processed high fat junk foods. Jessica had said when her cancer came that she was going to improve her diet but he did not support her and say "I'm with you on this honey." Now he gets to experience his own personal hell when he could've helped Jessica and himself back a couple years ago when she made her little effort to entice him back.

I love Mayo in Rochester. 16 yrs ago I had 10 % of my kidney taken. I have CKD, so I thought it would be best to hang onto as much as I could, not knowing if something would go wrong with my other kidney. Anyway, God bless you as you go through this hiccup! By the way, my surgeon was Dr. Chow.

My sister-in-law had her tumor removed but it came back and so she had another surgery to remove the kidney. Other than a slightly restricted diet, she’s had no life changes from it. Thank you Lord that your cancer was found.God did the same for me with uterine cancer and I never had to go through treatment. I became a healthier vegan and lost a bunch of weight after my cancer diagnosis. I’m so grateful. Obesity is causing so much cancer. We need you guys to keep encouraging this lifestyle. You will be in our prayers. 💕
