This was my first experience into K-Pop back in 2018. I was scrolling around on youtube looking for music and this MV was trending on youtube at the time and I decided to click on the video. The rest is history I've been into K-Pop ever since. Here are their names in order of their individual parts at the start of the video Jennie, Lisa, Rosé and Jisoo. Jennie is the main rapper and lead vocalist, Lisa is the main dancer and lead rapper, Rosé is the main vocalist and lead dancer and Jisoo is the lead vocalist and visual. Kpop is amazing. There a lot of groups that mix genres and a lot of the time even in the same song the genre will change. It always keeps it fresh for me, you never really know what you're gonna get. With kpop groups you will almost always have a rapper, vocalist, and backups for each + dancers. As someone who likes rap and hip hop, I love the fusion in their music. I used to listen to a lot of kpop many years ago (like 10?) and blackpink got me back into it when I heard Whistle a couple years ago, they're amazing, hip hop vibes in a lot of their songs

It's because you can really see a difference between DDDD, KTL and all the other ones. The crush concept is definitely multiplied by two here and both songs are super catchy, super adapted to a foreign public and they follow the same ""receipe"". Some love the old BP and some prefer the new one I guess it's a matter of opinion, I personally love every song without an exception!

They are a bit different from girl groups from other agencies in Kpop. This song is their biggest one yet with over 1 Billion views and their latest ones are on the 600 million plus range. Their hip hop vibes are coming from the grand mythology of the agency's founder who is a former Korean hip hop artist. Every group that he produce, always have that vibe.

So, something you might not know about kpop is that unlike a lot of other genres of music, which all tend to have their own set of tropes and sounds, kpop is some weird melting pot of musical ideas. While the genre has it's own tropes (rap verses, extremely distinct bridge sections, uncommon harmonic structure, among others) there is a lot of real musical experimentation in kpop. While groups usually have members who specialize in one element (main dancer, main singer, main rapper, etc.) they have VERY intense training, even before they debut as a group. They spend months or even years training before they get a chance to debut in most cases.

When I think of KPop, I think its a genre of every music genre that you know today as a whole. Yes with most Kpop groups they will throw in English in the song withe Korean language.

*Whistle* has got to be one of my top BLACKPINK tracks, so I definitely recommend that. It's very stripped down compared to this one, but it still slaps. I don't know if you'll see this comment and you'll probably be doing mostly BLACKPINK songs for awhile anyways, but may I also suggest MAMAMOO? A lot of their earlier stuff is jazz inspired, if you like that type of music. They just have a lot of bangers that I would like to see your reaction to haha.
