Wasn’t able to find the 701, but I really wanted a Svart so I found 1 of 2 that I could get in Florida and “settled” with the 401. Love the little thing, super light and snappy, just enough balls to take it over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge where people are doing 90 over the bridge and still feeling comfortable with it. Wishing I could have found the 701, but couldn’t risk not getting my hands on a one of these amazing bikes. Great little bike, absolutely love it.

Slave known issue. Battery common issue . Dash few issues. Actually just rewatched the "you should buy one" video. Glad it's STILL a forever bike. I had a slave recluse slave ready to go when I brought the bike. Battery was changed when dash started flashing random errors. Luckily mine hasn't crapped out on me as.my dealer is 100 miles away. But for all it's flaws it's still such an awesome bike.

I had a 'tail tidy' on my 2020 Svart 701, the R&G Racing one. It really messed up the design, almost completely hiding that beautiful rear light, so I switched back to the original fender kit. It looks so much better with a clean rear end, and that little rear fender helps a lot if you live where it rains from time to time :) But that's minor details on a very beautiful bike. She's a keeper!

I also own a 2020 Svart, but I made sure the recalls (fuel tank and slave cylinder) were done before I took it from the dealership. These are all known issues, and pretty simple to resolve. I also had the same dead battery issue. I guess the batteries they used in them from the factory just sucked. I think my next mod will be to change the gearing (up a tooth in the back and down one in the front). Ive heard that this is an amazing upgrade to really wake the bike up. Once I get out of warranty, I will probably do the BW power kit too. Ive owned a lot of bikes over the years, but this 701 is something special for sure. I think its going to be the Yenko Camaro of the bike world in a few years. There were so few of them available for the 2020 year, and even less of them around any more. Cheers Whit, glad you still like it!

HI, Im curious about the tooth thing. Can you explain this further a bit?`Thx
@RyanMurphy-sp2fx2 жыл бұрын
@@sv7017 sure thing mate. You make the gearing shorter (lower top speed, more torque), by putting on a larger rear sprocket, and or, putting a smaller front sprocket on. This is how the 701 SM is geared, and makes a great difference for low down power delivery.
@sv70172 жыл бұрын
@@RyanMurphy-sp2fx Thanks. Are there actually finished parts you can buy? Thinking about simple tuning methods like a fuel dongle or the gearing.

I too have the 701 Start and if it rains hard and you drive through a bunch of wet it gets angry. Let it dry out back to normal. Also the abs cam failure is something that use to pop up on mine every 30 mins of riding. Its not now so I'm happy. I daily mine and its super fun. lived in Oregon and now in vegas. Get different lights I got some leds fro blinkers cause I too had that dumb issue with the tail lights. I don't regret mine. The salve thing happen to me twice. Have 8k on mine. turning into an adventure bike currently had it sumo'd for a while dunlop mutants and zeta hand guards and sumo mirrors.

I have my 2020 Svart for about 10 months now and absolutely love it. I also have some issues with the dash occasionally throwing random errors at me. "CAN ABS FAILURE" most of the time. Had it at the dealership several times. Got a new dash and what not. Didn't help still there. Even KTM doesn't know why they tend to have that, they said. Apparently KTM has canceled the contract with the supplier of the dash because it's shit. Problem is, they don't get any support for this supplier anymore. I guess we just have to live with it. Bike runs great btw.

I worked for an HQV/KTM/GasGas and Suzuki Dealership and these KTM bikes are extremely problematic compared to other brands like Suzuki, Yamaha.... You have to have the KTM Tester and register the bike to the dealerNet to let them even start before they go out to the customer. With Suzuki bikes you unpack, fill the tank and press start. 😂 EEPROM, TCS, ABS, Failures to communicate to different Control Units, sudden non functioning cockpits... anything you can imagine went wrong. Guess which customers visited us frequently with problems? Those who bought a 701, 401, 125 or a SV650, V-Strom or GSX? Those with SV650s, V-Stroms or GSXs were service customers who needed new tyres, oil change or whatever. In my time there I've NEVER SEEN a Suzuki bike with electronic problems. The HQV customers came in regularly with electronic problems. ALL. THE. TIME. We had brand new bikes and bikes not even a year old with electronic problems so bad, we couldn't figure them out and they went back to KTM for repair. They never told us what was wrong with them but the customers got some goodies like new tyres, new engine or whatever. Electronic problems from the getgo, leaking engines, Leaking WP suspension, holes in exhaust pipe weldings on brand new bikes... all problems connected to this brand. I've never seen a Suzuki with anything like that. Fun bikes no doubt about that but my money goes to Japanese brands. And I'm not even mentioning the recalls for the clutch slave cylinder or the plastic tanks which needed replacement because of the thin plastic... haha
@WonderLOLrus2 жыл бұрын
Your videos on YN was one of the reasons I picked up a 701 last Nov. I've seen the issue with the weird dash tc/abs can failure messages. Those messages with the check engine light disappears after couple of days. Someone mentioned turning the bike on before the dash sequence finishes can cause it to occur. I noticed accidentally running the throttle against brakes can also cause the TC/ABS thing to pop up. 15T front sprocket, open airbox and Closed loop fuel adjustment helped a lot with street riding. I scrambled some FSR with it but it is definitely much happier on the twistys.

Badwinners makes an upgraded replacement dash. I'm considering getting one for mine. My clutch slave cylinder failed too. It was disappointing being that this was my first bike and crapped out with only a few miles on it. I got the oberon upgrade replacement and have had no issues.

I am a one bike guy and I sold my beautiful 1983 Suzuki GS1100E that ran FLAWLESSLY (my avatar) and bought a 2019 Indian FTR1200. The 1200 is my first new bike- first new motorized vehicle actually. It is a beast and is a thrill. But I am concerned because it does not have that Japanese long term reliability. I hope you get the display readout fixed without conflict from the manufacturer but it makes me cringe that a new bike is revealing problems so soon. I have not experienced any problems that other Indian owners have but I have the base model which has less problems. However there is a recall on my bike for a faulty plastic coolant connection that when goes can spew hot coolant on the rider. Yay. Best part is the replacement part is not available.

Glad to hear you still like your 701. I also have a 2020 Svart 701. I live in San Antonio (no Husky dealer here yet so I rode mine up to TJ's for that first 600 mile service). Mine throws the occasional error code (no one at TJ's seemed to know why). I bought an OBD2 reader so I could read and clear codes. I've got a fuel dongle on order (from Kev Down Under) and hope that sorts out the low RPM stumbles due to lean running. I have a bunch of other bikes but this 701 is my Goldilocks bike: enough horsepower, not too porky and 70-ish mpg. What's not to like? It's even somewhat comfy. I hope you continue to bond with yours...

You should have a look at upgrading your blinkers anyway - the later models came with the really small LED ones.

@@user-mq4xp1gq3q The only reason I am making one is because there is no better option. Things slowing me down are wireless setup and software updates for the unit. Everything else is "working". And I am a programmer. I am terrible at user interface. That really slows me down.

Betting any money your harness got boned while they were putting in the Slipper Clutch. You may want to just have your electrics given a once over front to back, a car stereo shop be better than a mechanic for this if you have one near you that does high-end custom work. They should be able to troubleshoot your whole harness on a motorcycle in just a couple of hours

Thanks for doing this video! I was one of those who wondered if you regretted getting the bike. I saw the first video when you was so excited about the bike. Your video was a big motivator for me to hunt the 701 Svartpilen down and get one. Question. How many miles do you have on your bike and when did it start having issues? I was told that the dealer addressed the issues with the slave driver or whatever you call it. Thus far, I have not had issues but I am now concerned and wondering what to do. My miles on my bike is low so I wonder if that is why I have not had issues yet. One last question. Do you think putting an aftermarket exhaust on the bike is a factor? Did you put a power commander on it and change the mapping or something. I heard that some people put things on their bikes to help it run smooth at low rpms. So I wonder if that is a factor too. My dealer said doing those things could effect my warranty. I hope you do another video on this please!
