I just finished rebuilding my own transmission in my garage. With the help of KZbin it wasn't so bad. To me two weeks working on it in the evening and the weekends. Got a few thousand miles on it and it's shifting great. People make transmissions seem like magical places that you have to have magical skills to work with. It's just nuts, bolts, bands, clutches, and a few other things. They wanted 4 grand to rebuild it at a shop and my car is only worth 4 grand so I had nothing to lose except my time. My wife told me I could do it and she was right. I had to buy an engine lift, a transmission rebuild kit, and a few extra parts that didn't come in the kit.

You are welcome! I absolutely love your videos, i never miss them. Please keep them coming as long as you can! I watch a lot of your buddies too, and i have always been a fan of the grand tour and that little known shown the trio did before grand tour. They fueled my own love for all things car related, much like they did for you. With a tear in my eye, I say, so do you, Tyler, so do you.

You're a very fortunate guy and seeing you put these vehicles through the entire run to see if they hold up or just belong in a junk yard is fantastic. You should do a video on what manufacturers you truly believe will give you your money's worth.

That's the Komatsu business model. They sell heavy machinery at breakeven or a loss, but the spare parts are where they make the $$$ and since these machines get abused real hard, they are making money once they're out there in the market.

So when the dealer tried to fuck my wife and I on her car, they told me they’d basically make a dealer profit of $1000 on the car. This was back in 2012. They made probably 8x that in warranty work and recalls over the last 5 years.

@@jonathandeller - Normally car dealers make way more money on rip off service and rip off used car mark ups. New car sales don’t profit them very much. That’s why they try to con you into doing the service with them.

Wow, really opened a can of worms with this one. Truth is lots of products are sold as loss leaders where the profit is in the consumables. Just think of pod coffee machines and home printers. It is just a fact of life.

Best of luck Tyler...it's clear how much you still care about every project and feel the pain so keenly...but so great that you come through the other side and do it in such good humour. Stupid has never looked so smart...or be so entertaining. And 'love letter to the old Top Gear' is a great way of putting it...the tone and humour is right on...at least in your Kansas version of it, which is great too. I've even started using the term 'hooptie' here in Australia (and yes, people look at me strangely).
