Great video Perry, very detailed, the husky 250 twins actually outsold the ktms last month! and yes, ktms are pretty popular here...though i guess they haven't solved the leg cooking problem huh? Haha. Tnx for the shoutout! 😁 Highly appreciated the positive feedback on husky fun ride! Hot air to toes/legs alternative fix> boots & protective jeans Just be aware that 401 powerplant is from duke390 (engine by Bajaj), hence same lineage with high probability of same weaknesses.. I dont have husky or duke But based on interweb/reddit/yt/forums > these were compiled feedbacks from limited d390 users WITH issues.. (Note: below is not hasty generalization per se, but heads-up to be aware or be more proactive in bike-checking routines) apologies for long post ---- * according to some veteran duke390 users, they had this duke-impression to attain price competitiveness, the associated parts can be of not exactly high quality but "met minimum standards" (over a short period of time, resulting to some loose screws/bolts, squeeky brakes, early fork seals leak, fogging of display/headlight,etc) * Engine characteristic> It has a high compression engine by design >> (more torque+hp) but it will also generate more heat hence, thicker oil 15w-50 by KTM/husky recommendation. (>In contrast, yamaha uses only 10w-40 from single to its triple-banger engines) * d390 Engine heating issues - Ktm engines (and husky) are most happy when revving and moving, not be stuck in idle traffic in hot weather combined with heavy city traffic> engine can be prone to excessive heat that will shut off the engine by itself (as safety) (as experienced by SOME users in India) proactive fix> cooling system should ALWAYS be in great shape, also, check oil level is within the range) >radiator grill should always be clean for effective air flow, check no coolant leaks -always full), working fan, thermostat, temp sensors, etc (some feedbacks of early fail of one of those parts) * If unnoticed, (in time) excess heat > will wear engine seals faster than usual (source of oil leaks) >issue w/ coolant+oil mix > probable for blown head gasket Fan noise> if annoying, popular SPAL fan works effectively as upgrade option (less noise, more hot air pulled > less engine heat) Intermittent electronic of issues can be from * weak/failing battery * ABS CAN failure display * no start (first, check battery health or loose connection) * No display or rebooting startup display * illuminating ABS light from panel (can be loose battery connection) Firmware bugs: is Common to any FI engines (car/motorcycle) with computer & multiple sensors (prone to fail) - and for the sake of "continuous Improvement" - modifying/improving the program/codes will "almost always" endless be buggy (Hope) fix > next firmware update --- there are many happy husky users @vitpilenforum.com (and some had d390-like issues and discuss) -- (theres No such thing as perfect bulletproof motorcycle) Despite some d390-like issues to monitor/check, i still look forward to own a svart for my next bike in the near future 😉 Bike design & quality improves in every new iteration, my belief (however imperfect) Always Ride safe! 👍

Drove 450 miles to grab my Svartpilen 401 in Nov.'20. I currently own 3 other machines ('93 Guzzi 1000S, '13 Super Tenere, '82 BMW R100), and they all now sit because this bike is the most fun I've ever had in 35 yrs of riding! Of all the bikes I've owned, this little pea shooter is an absolute hoot. Wheelies are so controllable. Jumping off curbs, running dirt roads, cutting across open fields, and doing teenage shit is hilarious on this bike. It gets me out to meet up with friends, run groceries, strap my fishing pole/gear up to it, and just blast around like a newbie. Great fun. Easy as pie to ride. Husky slammed it out on this thing. People are looking at me wondering wtf I'm doing and what pl a's net I'm from on this crazy little unit. 5 must have additions that make the 401 the perfect urban explorer/commuter/errand runner: Primus 1L fuel bottle (strapped to rear), Puig windscreen, Rear bag, low profile tank bag, Ram mount phone cradle, and Batter Tender w USB connector. Go.Get. One. Now.

Clemens Sc Hey Clemens, Siri says I’m 170 cm (5’7”). Although I can’t flat foot the bike, I think you might feel a but scrunched due to the only slightly rear set peg position. @ForeverARide4 жыл бұрын
Arturo Alvarado this is a great question and my feelings on it evolve as I continue to enjoy this motorcycle. My first ride, my back actually hurt. But I was not used to riding a motorcycle, let a lone in a sport bike position. As I continued riding, I adjusted to the bike and stopped noticing any discomfort under an hour of riding. Now, I’m confident I could go for longer and longer, and the position feels perfectly natural, even preferred. Having said that, this objectively is still not the preferred first choice for daily riding, rather the first choice for a run-about, cafe racer type of mindset. I heard someone say before, this would make an excellent second motorcycle. I’ve thought about changing the bars but every time I look at the style I forget about it completely.

So the question i have is power for the bike. Basically my idea is that after some time for example 3 months you can just get bored of the power of the bike, i know its light and nimble but anyway what would be your thoughts?
@ForeverARide4 жыл бұрын
After 3 months of riding, I personally haven’t gotten bored of the power. I’m not able to use all of it most of the time, so I always feel like there is more on tap when I’m on the street. It’s feels substantially more powerful than a 250 - and I think 44 hp is more than enough to chew on for my abilities so far. This could change!
@JayD..4 жыл бұрын
What about seating position, i’m 6ft2 and the bike kind of seems small? The thing is i love the looks of the bike but still feel that it might be nit the best choice due to lack of power and seating position 😢

@@JayD.. Thanks for the sub :) If you're a slim build, I think it should be perfect. I'm smaller at 5'7 and 145 lbs but I think it's better to feel as though you've mastered the power it can offer instead of hopping on a 600 - as the difference in power is quite a bit. The seat is slim and generally not as comfortable as any other bike in its class haha. You should definitely sit on one to be sure.

Neutral is hard is because of the quick shifter. I had the same issue for a while, but when I realized I don't actually need the clutch, I adapted and things got so much better. You just let off the throttle and shift. Up or Down. You only need the clutch when you're sitting still at take off. I have heard so many people say they had issues with the shifting or clutch, and then when I explained it had a quick shifter...most of those complaints stopped. Just in case you didn't know it had the quick shifter...you can go try it. Just let off the gas and shift, no clutch required. I don't clutch for upshift, but do for downs because I am usually coasting a bit on a downshift anyway, but once I found out the quickshifter was there it completely changed the feel of the bike for me. Peace.
@ForeverARide4 жыл бұрын
Brandon, this is great news. I thought the quick shifter was only on the 701. Thanks! Peace & Love.
@ForeverARide4 жыл бұрын
George Krpan this is likely the case. Tried to massage some shifts this weekend with no luck. 🧐
@603mike3 жыл бұрын
That’s not a quickshifter. A quickshifter allows you to upshift without letting off the throttle or using the clutch. All you are doing is “clutchless shifting”. Any motorcycle will do this by unloading the transmission (IE. Letting off the throttle). A quickshifter will do this for you by cutting ignition to unload the transmission allowing that gear change.
