Looking at all your comments, i have a hard time believing you are older then 16 years old. 35 years of being a mechanic would make you about 45-50 And the way you handle commenting doesn't show any maturity.

This episode made me realize just how much Taylor loves cars. When I was like 14, I spent the summer hanging out with two guys from Queens who would come up to my area and stay for the summer months, one of them was into American muscle, and the other friend liked making old Datsuns go fast. They used to lend me there Ford Pinto grocery getter to go out for joyrides. 35 years later, I still get excited about a good visceral driving experience. Maybe it's time to ditch the stock engine transmission out of my E12 And put a little spring in its step.

@@BlatantBurnerAccount All second hand cars need some love. BMW's have some quirks and bad design, and are expensive, but that don't make them junk. Maybe in your eyes though, that's fine. Bought an E46 2 years ago, done some basic maintenance and it's been reliable. It ain't all bad mate.

@@BlatantBurnerAccount The old straight 6's are good. Basic maintenance and you're good to go. Sure, still ain't the most reliable car or engine out there, but that's not what it's about. Many brands such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Alfa Romeo etc. are technically shit cars, but they still have loads of people loving them. If you want reliable and cheap, you buy a Toyota.

@@BlatantBurnerAccount I did my research on the specific engine in my car before I bought it, no obvious red flags, people said it was reliable. Old dude owned it from new, was taken good care of. It was stock, still is. Not a high-strung engine, no problems with it whatsoever. I've had other cars with way more issues than my E46. Even a Yaris with engine issues that could not be fixed, however that piece of shit was neglected for many years by the previous owner. Sure, with BMW engines (even the most reliable ones) they will have some specific things to look out for, but if that is taken care of you're good to go. I don't own a BMW for the reliability, and I hope no-one else does either, because they will be disappointed, unless they're lucky. Maybe I've been lucky, because it's actually been very reliable. Love my E46 and nothing will change that. Drives great, looks great, sounds great, puts a smile on my face.

One for Taylor, if the PCV valve needs swapping on the M54 / M52TU, do the oil filter housing gasket at the same time, makes it 100 times easier to do as you can actually access it easily

For the cooling issue, I did a M50 swap in a e28 and also had cooling problems. My fis was a radiator for a E36 with air-conditioning. It's a bit larger and fits perfectly in de e28. After that fix i never had a problem with cooling. Even on track

Recently picked up a tired old E46 with the 2.8 in it, the engine is an absolute peach at 132k miles - smooth, responsive and (surprisingly) leak-free! I've always been into Fords, but I'm now up to two BMWs in the fleet and they're started to get under the skin.

Windy-up windows on a 1985 car (even an e28) isn’t a weird spec. Back in those days, electric front windows was a real sign of fancy. I still remember the Austin ambassador having leccy windows and being talked about as luxury 😂
