This is very normal, Thomlin Smitt, even a lengthy snake will likely shrivel into a slug

My n=1, I've used a cold shower for years to help (temporarily) snap me out of a depressive/low mood. No other pros/cons noticed.

I think mood effects are probably the most common anecdotal report I hear, and I am very happy to support this idea 🙂

When I was young we trained in cold weather, think of Alaska and North Canada cold, eating 7500 calories a day, hiking 20 to 35 mi a day with 75 to 90 lb on our backs because we thought will be facing world war III against Russia. Yeah the cold probably used up a bunch of our energy but I'm sure the 90 lb on our backs and the 15th to 25 to 30 me also gobbled up a bunch of our energy, along with our combat training and technical training. You'd be surprised how much energy your brain requires especially during extreme temperatures.

Haha, I'm 69 - surf every winter & come in after 3 hour session shivering like a dog shitting razor blades & the only benefit is how good it feels to get warm again! SUBSCRIBED!! :)

When Elmer Fudd told you that the celery and carrots were there to make your bath relaxing, you should have known something was wrong.

Imagine if you did it for 60 minutes! You could finish your weight loss goals in one day.

I started powerlifting with My brother in law a little over a year ago. And he started that whole ice bath / cold shower thing and he tryed to get me to do it because of how good it felt he claimed and the possible benefits of it but i never took interest. Personally i just dont see the point of it.

I think there is a lot of anecdotal evidence of people feeling better (which is of course awesome) but it’s getting a bit out of hand with how wild some of their claims are, especially when there is actually research studies refuting what they say. I blame Gary Brecka for a big chunk of it to be honest 😂

@@439801RS honestly I've never tryed it so I just don't know but it just seemed like another weird trend to me but I also don't know much about it either 😅

If you could run at Kelvin Kiptum's pace for an entire marathon, well... You'd be Kelvin Kiptum. But you're not. Those elite marathon runners are far far more efficient than either you or I. I don't know how accurate my Garmin's estimate for calories burned is, but with my 17k run yesterday it estimated I burnt well over a thousand calories, and that's a much shorted distance than the 42.2k of a marathon. It was during 30+°C weather though and in a lot of a direct sunlight, which does make a difference. During the short winters where I live my ability to run long distances becomes almost effortless, whereas I had to rest three times yesterday due to the heat.

There are positives to ice baths or cold water exposure, like improving mood and mental toughness or aiding recovery post-exercise, but this grifter's claims about fat loss are complete lunacy. It's just another 'alternative therapy' for the gullible, poorly educated and (sadly) those struggling with fat loss and/or desperately searching for the non-existent silver bullet solution. As I always say, fat loss isn't hard, it's just hard work, and that means a consistent calorie deficit mostly achieved via diet and supplemented with exercise.
