Do it Yourself (DIY) Car Wrapping
Hello everybody, in this video you will see how I have applied the Carbon Fibre Wrap. However I’d like to begin saying that this is not my job and that it is the very first time that I try to apply a wrap over a car.
Enjoy the video...
Let’s start cleaning the surface …
Let’s take away the rear light …
Unscrew with a spanner N° 8 the two nuts with whom the rear light is fixed to the structure
Disconnect the connector
…here is a third nut
…and two other nuts under the fabric
In order to avoid to scratch the automotive body, we can put a paper ribbon on the part that will not be covered by the wrap
Let’s put back the rear light
And screw the three nuts that fix it
Connect the connector… reset again the automotive body
Oops …. While finishing the video I’ve discovered that I did not put on again the rear light’s back grrr
Therefore I’ll try now to put it on again and then I’ll screw the remaining three nuts… I’ll do it soon :-P
And once more … it’s DONE!!!!
I’ve to admit that I’m starting to like this
In this video series I want to share with you my first experience in applying the carbon effect film on my Alfa 156. The idea came after asking for quotes to some coachbuilders and since the cost of work exceeded 2000 € I decided to try it alone. I bought the film looking on ebay ... I chose the seller based on the need to have the film in different colors and at an acceptable price. I found the todomasequipment with a wide range of products and colors. With just under 300 € I bought the necessary to cover the whole car. The person who answered me was immediately available to help me choose the best film for my needs and give me valuable advice on how to install it.
The installation of the film was not complicated, it takes only a lot of patience, the longest work was certainly prepare the parts by removing and reassembling the accessories that should not be covered. For every point I covered, it took about an hour, a little more to cover the goalkeeper. Given their shape, the most complex part was certainly the bumper lining. If I can give you some advice, in case you decide to try to do the same job, start from the easiest parts, those that are more flat and wide as for example the bonnet, the roof and the doors ... this to accumulate a little of experience that will come in handy in the most difficult points. Definitely essential to use the hair dryer and paint remover, in the videos you can see how to use them, if you have any questions ... just do it: -) ...
I sincerely thank Mrs. Pina of todo mas equipment for her advice and Fabrizio for her invaluable help in the installation of the film and the hospitality in her box for work

I really like this video because they did it just how I imagined I would do it and I think it came out pretty good. It's not like they were wrapping a Lambo. Nice job guys, gives me the desire to do it on an old 2007 Yaris I have.

OH I love the internet.. They clearly mentioned they have not done this before and simply did it and put it on youtube.. And of course basically every negative comment is no help whatsoever... Just a simple. WRONG YOU'RE WRONG YOU DO IT WRONG YOUR SO WRONG... Wow... If you were actually a professional or someone with knowledge of how to do it... You could simply NOT comment at all... OR try and give some tips for the future. A simple tip may help another viewer who came here in hopes of getting the courage to do this themselves. BTW... you do know that employers can and WILL find you online. Trolling on the internet is a very poor way to prove how professional you are. But who am I? no one... Just another idiot on the internet.

Actually fingers are great for working with vinyl. Squeegee's have a tendency to drag and catch on the vinyl at times.. so you'd really need one that is kind of hard, which creates a scratching risk... I use both, but there's nothing wrong with using fingers to wrap... To me it looks like you definitely have wrapped something before.. maybe never a full car. The way you handle the vinyl and stretch it looks like you at least have an idea of what to do...

@l1ngo
@l1ngo 9 жыл бұрын
Yeah you can use this in a plotter I've done it myself. This film does stick to windows too. If you want the whole window wrapped in this will block your view so you need a particular type. For small designs this will be okay for window use
@topwrapz
@topwrapz 8 жыл бұрын
+l1ngo wrapping vinyl with air channel technology is not a good choice for a window application, since it doesn't stick as well as regular signage vinyl. Also you don't need to use so expensive cast vinyl if you do stuff with a plotter.

Hey, we're wrapping a car for the first time right now and we're struggling to get the material to go down evenly without bubbles. First we're trying to rework those sections to get them perfect (about 1 sqft) but we find we're going over and over the same sections again and again making no progress. We're using a wrap with a sticky back as well. Can anyone give us some advice on what we may be doing wrong? My thinking is we're only stretching the material about 10% where we should be stretching a lot more. What other newb tips can you give us? Honestly can't figure out what we're doing wrong and this is day 2 of the project. Help much appreciated. Thx

I know im a bit late, but i bet you're problem was that you didn't have 3m vinyl, 3m is really easy to work with. Especially the 1080 series, you probably had some sort of junk that nearly stretched and didn't have the air "pores" which would explain the problem you've had with the bubbles forming. Pozdrawiam ;)
