When I ordered my Jumbo Whitewing eggs, I was using Lil Red incubator, 1/3 of trays were for chicken & rest for quail. I had exactly the issue you showed,Some were just big to even sit in quail rack, regardless of touching. Those I sat in the chicken tray. Doing that worked well.

Zack, another thing that can be done, if people want to take the time to do it. Leave a standard egg rack in the center, when they switch out to put the quail rails in. Then they only use the largest jumbo eggs in the chicken egg rail.

Absolutely. Good thought

Thanks for answering my question from the live q&a a couple weeks ago about if the jumbo eggs would fit on a little giant quail tray. Looks like I could most likely fit close to 90 to 100 jumbo eggs in the quail rails of a little giant. Going to be buying or building an incubator very soon then ordering jumbo wild eggs from you this spring.

HI jack there is a small adjustment that can be done to GQF quatl rail to make them a little taller so that it fits the sizes in between jumbos and normals .with the help of screws on the 4 corners
@MyshireFarm2 жыл бұрын
We have tried it but it made the trays weak for us but it is possible that we did it wrong.

For the Hovabater egg turner, the problem isn't only that they sometimes don't fit in the holes; the larger issue is when they turn, they are too close to the next rail, which cracks the larger eggs. I found I can put larger eggs around the outside of the turner (on two sides) without them cracking because they don't have another rail next to them. Next time I plan to remove every other rail and incubate that way.

Good info, I have a Little Giant and quail rails, with a mix of quail I do get eggs that are too large and I have to put a space between them and the next egg but I don't do big hatches. The largest hatch so far was only 38 eggs. I also don't put eggs under the center heater with it being so close to the top of the eggs I just don't like it there (personal choice).

I'm sure Poppa TB could mod the GFQ pheasant tray spacer posts to add 1/4" that would allow those to be double stacked.

Is there a hatch rate difference in the swinging rack, swinging tray, and egg roller turning system. Building a mini-gigantor and like the space saving feature of the Hatchpro 220 egg roller vs swinging (oscillating tilt) the entire rack system. They also allow for a lockdown screen frame lid once the roller bars are "plucked" (removed)... see what I did there? But I would rather sacrifice inside incubator space vs hatch rate if rollers are a poor choice. Opinions?
@MyshireFarm2 жыл бұрын
I have not noticed a difference in hatch rates due to that. Good question

I did enjoy this video, not because I have problem with incubator trays, but because you showed the difference between standard size eggs and Jumbo size eggs. I sell my eggs by the dozen and I use 1 dozen plastic egg carton. My Jumbo eggs will not fit in the standard egg carton. If you try to close the lid you will crush the Jumbo eggs. Do you know from whom I can purchase the 1 dozen plastic egg cartons for my Jumbo eggs?
@MyshireFarm2 жыл бұрын
I don’t I am sorry. I have 24 and 30 ct cartons and most eggs will fit not not the dozen cartons. I am sorry. But thanks so much for watching

For use as video props you could first hard boil the eggs. That way they would be easier to handle.

If one was to make trays for jumbos laid over, would one get by with 1 1/4" by 1 3/4" slots or go with 1 1/2" by 2" , or what?

I am not too sure. I would have to run some tests

Make sure they are getting 14-16 hours of light a day, they are on a high calcium layer feed, can get away from elements, they feel safe, they are not overcrowded (we recommend 3 quail per sq ft) and a good male to female ratio. (We recommend 5 hens to 1 male)
@pabloteran70822 жыл бұрын
@@MyshireFarm i have them outside on a wire cage big enough for only 16 quails the cage is 6 ft x 24 wide and a box attached to the cage where they can get away from the elements, the interesting thing is that not even the males are mating the hens, i am thinking move them inside and supply extra light and see what happens

For my NR360 I bought an aftermarket quail egg rack. Its well made but it turns out that some of the larger Jumbo eggs I tried would not fit. I ended up doubling in the original chicken tray. I do think the after market tray is good. Just not for Jumbo.

They don't fit in the Brinsea quail rails anymore. Honestly it's a bit of a bummer that I can't incubate the full number. It means I have to order smaller quantities from you as well.
@MyshireFarm2 жыл бұрын
Do they offer pheasant trays?
@illkabongg2 жыл бұрын
@@MyshireFarm they have many different size trays but they cut the total capacity by a lot. I ordered 110 jumbos and was only able to fit 70 in the larger egg trays so I ran out and got a hovabator to fit the rest. I'm sure I will get less overall birds because the hovabator hatch rate is going to be very low. So next time I have to only order 70 from you. This is why I don't know who benefits from the larger eggs.
