We are only responsible for what we say and do, not for what others imagine of us based on their own insecurities, past issues etc. If there is one thing i cannot stand, it's for someone to mistreat me, take my kindness for weakness, my friendliness for flirt and think we're gonna do the dance where they act however and i stay. Not gonna happen. Just be the best version of yourself in any situation knowing it is enough, without feeling the need to bend over backwards explaining and proving yourself to people who are commited to misunderstanding you. I would have asked him from the 1st second "do we have a problem" and not allow any type of disrespect.
