Couldn’t agree more Jack! It’s so easy to get caught up in things and in the end it all doesn’t matter. Just take photos cause you enjoy the process.

Know that your insights are valuable and shared! Making it a proffesion rarely feeds the joy of creating. As Bob Ross and Meyerowitz says, the moment you hold a brush/camera, you have a license to paint/shoot.

I'm a Software Engineer in my weekdays, but I do cosplays, streets, mostly Human Interest in my weekends. People come and go, I like meeting with people, after all the technicals and mostly my introvert side in front of my desk, photography does that to me. One of my friend's recently just passed away, their family contacted me about it, and then thanked me that I took so many pictures of said person whilst still here with us living in this world. That's mostly what keep me moving, moments past, but memories last. Photography is as close as time machine we have currently.

Hi Jack. I take snaps of whatever takes my fancy on any given day for pleasure and my own amusement. I post them to my IG page, and have been doing so for more that ten years, they are my life archive. There used to be photo albums in peoples homes, I now have IG instead. Seeing the changes that have taken place during that time in my world, and others, is wonderful. I cherish the connections I have made with others from various places, and from various walks of life, just through taking a few snaps. My pictures matter to me for these reasons and is why I regard myself as a happy snapper. Enjoy the rest of your day down under.

Jack, you should make this your main video on your page. It's excellent and really highlights who you are. I've been practicing mainly street photography for 22 years. I used to be a freelance event photographer and shot several portraits as well. I finally stopped accepting paid jobs because I hated the money and client pressure intermingling with my art. It didn't work for me. I have no regrets having dropped that. Now, outside of my full-time non-photo related work, I occasionally do a paid job but mostly volunteer my photos for others (events and portraits). I make a lot of people happy doing that, including myself. And I continue shooting street, sometimes seeking out publications but that's it. Like you, it's my therapy. By the way, your video is very timely for me. It has prompted me to something that I will write about since I'm considering blogging again or doing Medium/Substack. Thank you so much for the inspiration. 💡

This is my new channel trailer so glad it resonated! Interesting to hear about your experience Juliette. I have taken a few paid jobs here and there but always have more fun shooting for free. I’m sure client pressure in this day and age would be worse than ever. Substack is a great option, I use it to blog and podcast on my science channel.

I live in a smallish town, and just about every week one of my photos appears in someone else's memories on facebook. Knowing that I provide friends and acquaintances with images of their fond memories is pretty satisfying.

Totally get it. I used to go fishing, it didn't matter if I didn't catch any fish, in fact sometimes I didn't even bother to bait the hook as catching was a disruption to simply sit and be. I also used to be a pro photographer but now I shoot for me. My favourite shots are not the ones that earn the most money, but ones I have a deep personal connection to. My Family, my dogs, a specific moment in time.

I know a few pro photographers who don’t even touch a camera anymore after retiring, glad to hear you’re still shooting. This is the best pastime in the world I think!

@@BokehTherapy I have had a few and photography has been one that has stayed with me a long time. Its nice you can pick it up and drop it for a while with no loss of skill and that helps with different life stages. I've had some like competitive dance where you have to train a couple of times a week just to maintain where you are.
