A lot of narcissists do copy the people they are in a relationship with. A lot of narcissist lack true identity and tend to mirror those around them in order to fit in.
Official- www.mentalhealness.net / Brand Shop - i-am-self-love...
Welcome my channel! If this is your first time seeing my face or hearing my voice, my name is Lee and I am a self aware narcissist. I have narcissistic personality disorder ( NPD ) and I've been in therapy for my personality disorder since 2017 and it has definitely changed my life because without it, I would have lost everything.
The point of these videos is to help bring awareness from the other side of the narcissistic *buse spectrum. All my videos give perspective on why many narcissists do what they do and the possible different reasons behind them. The victims and survivors get validation and the Narcissists (those that are willing) get to see that you can get help and that you are not alone.

1. They mirror because they have no proper sense of Self. 2. They mirror because they lack emotional integrity. 3. They mirror because what is working for you? Has to work for them. 4. They mirror your authenticity because they lack it. Then eventually you get discarded or they fall out of correspondence with you. Human vacuums of the soul.

One thing most people miss talking about is manipulation: Abusers copy the speech of their survivors in order to disguise themselves and twist the meaning of words and concepts. It helps them being better social chameleons. They sound less aggressive/abusive if they copy the language of decent and sincere people. They also steal the ideas of their victims because it helps them sound original and fresh to new targets who they can impress with the freshness of those ideas.

I appreciate you so much for being open and honest, I know you gave the disclaimer of people choosing to copy for different reasons. With that said I have a few questions. Asking from a real place, not trying to be snarky: 1. If the imitation is simply to fit in, while trying to get someone to like you why is it that when we call these behaviors out that isn't explained? I've attempted to have very respectful 1 on 1's with people like this and the gaslighting is real. 2. Why are there almost always digs at that person for the characteristic you seek to imitate? In my interactions with people who do this about 85% of the time they have made a condescending remark or joke regarding what ever it is they end up mimicking. 3. Do you know how unsettling and odd it can feel if you're hanging out with someone who is competing with you for your vibe? All of us have our own experiences and were raised differently. You can't imitate life experience. Do you realize that it can kind of make yall look corny and weird in a horror movie way?

It also teaches healthy innocent people to be aware at all costs. I've been becoming aware of the lengths people go to whether they are good or bad to destroy the reputations of innocent victims in the games they constantly play. Preying on your vulnerabilities to utilise them for their advantage. Surround yourself with trustworthy people that validate your experiences with people like this and know your truth and that of your family and children. They will do anything to take that all away from you. So long story short, you know who you are and that's all that matters. No one's opinion of you defines who you are and what you stand for. Be strong and stay safe in this dangerous world which is your life! Thanks Lee for the insight. It's most valuable. Lots of lessons have been learnt by many I'm sure.

My person literally picked out the things about me that they lacked. I am a designer dude, they became designer. I am a humanitarian, they pretended to be a humanitarian. They wanted to get in the gym, that too was one of my things. My surviving parent is financially well of, they constantly reminded me that their father generated x amount of dollars. I grew up a bit privileged, so did they. Even though I know the truth. I watch so many videos, channels, and podcast and I was able to let go of my resentment, hurt, and anger as a result. I literally fell in love with myself during the bombing stage. The mask came off within 90 days, I was blown away. Lee, you have really aided in my healing process, I used to feel that I was alone and I was crazy, it is very validating and so much value has been added to what I went through and all of the thoughts and feelings that I experienced. Many thanks sir.

This all just started happening I'm not sure if the flying monkey is turning into the narcissist or whatever the blip. They are using words they don't even understand and have never had in their vocabulary before. This is my ex-husband and my ex-sister-in-law / friend. Thank you for what you do! I know it's not funny, what's happening, but the absurdity of it all makes you crave for some kind of comic relief before the insanity infiltrates your very being! My daughter recently said you know dad is saying the same things you have said for years to make him a victim. He has tried turning all of our kids against us and it worked on my son. My son feels awful for him and thinks I’m an awful person. My son was 15 and would still snuggle on couch with me but at 16 he all of a sudden turned and hated me and got very disrespectful. My daughter recently told me their dad would take them on rides and say all this stuff about me and made me look awful but my girls knew this wasn’t true because I was always present and there for them while their dad had his own life and didn’t do crap with us as family. Somehow my son fell for it and I won’t speak bad about their dad it’s not their place but he still tries it to this day. I can’t wait to get out and just hope one day my son will get it but from what I hear he treats his girlfriend just like his dad did me. I thought I hid stuff from them so well and thought a family together was better but I realized how I did them a huge disservice. Then when I wanted to leave he caught on and took me off bank and things like that. I’m hoping to get out in the next few months.

Not everyone who does that is a narcissist. I do that, because I am autistic/ADHD. I get concerned people will think I am attempting to mock ‘em or copy ‘em. I don’t do it intentionally. I can’t even do any accent, whatsoever, other than a parody of a southern accent, if I am not around it. It’s called “echolalia” - involuntary mimicking of sound and language. There is, also,” echopraxia” - involuntary imitation and/or repetition of another’s actions/movements. Many people whom are neurodivergent- from autism, ADHD, dementia - do this. People diagnosed with narcissism/anti-social personalities are, also, considered neurodivergent. So, it would make sense there is some sort of cross-over.

As someone who is immensely neurodivergent, myself - I do the same thing; taking aspects I like of people, and applying ‘em to myself, in a manner I see fit. They are my inspiration, yet, I become more refined, and continue to become my ideal person, as result. That’s not narcissistic. Though, I have DID and fall on the (pro-social) psychopathy spectrum. To which, psychopaths tend to see themselves as the ideal person. Yet, I have no problem admitting I am inspired by the behaviors of those that catch my eye, and attempt those to my own ways of being. Because I make it my own - to where the source is nearly unrecognizable. And I stand out, uniquely, as result. Yet, it is NEVER my goal to attempt to diminish that attribute in someone else or appear as them, as result. Because, again. I see myself as the ideal person. I don’t want to be anyone else. Though, simply because I am my ideal person - that does not imply I do not want to refine myself, more. I mean, people may live in their ideal house, on their ideal piece of land - that doesn’t mean they ain’t gonna redecorate or remodel, from time to time. Though, what IS narcissistic? Attempting to BECOME that person, by engulfing everything about ‘em. I realized that sadistic narcissists, legitimately, want to destroy you - one way or another. Either induce stress, to the point of death and destruction.. Or, when that doesn’t work, and you have come out stronger and better, as result of their abuse? They attempt to destroy you by BECOMING you - from your outfits, to vocal inflections, to likes, dislikes, body movements.. To a freakin’ T. Because if it’s working for me - it’s gotta work for them, right? My mother is doing this, now, after surviving a near decade of Munchhausen’s by Proxy, while bedridden/housebound, with her as my “caretaker.” She couldn’t destroy me one way - so, she is attempting to destroy me in another. It’s absolutely sickening. To which, I only recently began to feel such sort of physical emotions and even certain physical sensations, since cutting out corn/corn-derivatives. My inability to register certain emotions and physical sensations, while also having an inclination towards adrenaline, is greatly what has allowed me to become so trauma-bonded and addicted - vs. emotionally attached. I still feels so surreal, this is what I am living through.

My neighbor tried to hijack my whole style......the way that I dress the way that I wear my hair, my son wears cute hats she went and bought hats for her son! She even went and bought the exact same grocery bags that I use! 🤔🤨 She started doing this after I rejected her love bombing! When she first moved in beside me she used to look at me with the turn up lip envy stank face stare! 🥴 Then when she found out my daughter died she tried her best to force her way into my life! I was in so much pain because I just lost a child and all she could think about was trying to get me to hang out with her even though I just wanted to be alone and plus I am an introvert anyway!( She was trying to take advantage of the situation) This girl was just making everything worse by trying to rush and force some kind of relationship! 🤨 Anyway she made me feel so uncomfortable that I just stop speaking to her PERIOD.....meaning she would say hello and I would ignore her like she didn't even exist and when I did that the girl started following me around and stalking me as if to say you can't just dismiss me! And one day I gave her a long stare down and if looks could kill she would not be here!!!🤨🤨🤨 It was nonverbal communication and she looked scared to death and stop following me and I thought it was over but that is when she started coping me and when she goes to her car she always looks up at my window to see if my blinds are up! She has no family no friends and her husband left her with two kids because he couldn't tolerate her crazy behavior! I have never met anyone who acts this way! I know that she is a covert narcissist but I think that she also has another mentally illness too because the girl is too CRAZY.......A WHOLE NUT! I am a no nonsense type of person so covert narcissist behavior annoys me to no end!

Ok, you are talking about copying behaviors, I think we all do that to a degree, sometimes. It’s not weird. It’s how we can gain an accent being around people over time. The deep was of the copying is what I think most people are talking about with the narcissist. You are talking about all superficial things. The narcissist WILL try to copy your humanity. Your soul. Bc they DO have a lack of a deep sense of self and self heart connection. We all can copy hairstyles and behavior trends. We all can have silly aspects to our personality or serious times or different moods. This copying we are talking about as a general rule for narcissists is a total life suck. It’s vacuuming up your soul.

I eventually got over that but here it is 7 years later married 2 years and a 5 year old and the mask has fallen off more than ever ,,, lord have mercy I never thought id be praying to get out of a marriage 🥺🥺 I just want my life back Id rather be alone !!

I think you’re a doll. 🤗 But in their case imitation isn’t flattering, Yes, they do copy and it’s not a compliment unfortunately. They will take full credit for things they had nothing to do with and will steal other peoples ideas too. Once saw my sister take credit for something the CARDIOLOGIST was saying for my mother after suffering a heart attack. That’s the cardiologist’s job! She was acting like she was the doctor. She isn’t qualified to even speak on anything medical, but had the nerve to lie so blatantly as if we all didn’t hear it for it selves. 🙄

At some point though, doesn't everyone do this? I mean, how do most people adopt new views, ideas, trends, styles, etc? It's inherently human to live through the senses; what we see, hear, taste, touch, smell, feel... maybe narcs do it more so? Or with more of an agenda?? Idk... not totes sure about this one... I love love love your content though man! And yes, I don't mind feeding your ego that you're my favorite NPD lol ❤️😁

Once again you've explained him. Atleast I know I love myself! The things he loved about me, those things that are at the core of who I am are the things that he couldn't stand in the end. When I met him, I told him I love cats. Cats find me no matter where I go. I live 35 miles out in the country. My place that is hard to find. People won't drive this far to dump animals and they STILL find me. I wake up in bed with cats I don't know. They have their kittens on my bed in the middle of the night. I come home to find them having parties in my house, lounging around on the furniture, helping themselves to a meal. Last year a feral had her kittens under my kitchen sink. I'm convinced there's a flyer circulating around the feral cat community with my name, address and photo ID. I even have wild animals showing up at my house! Before I even gave him my phone number I told him these things ARE NOT NEGOTIABLE! He said he loved those things. Towards the end, those are the things he wanted me to change. Did really love those those things about me, did he convince himself he loved those things? Is that typical narcissistic behavior?

I don't know if that's even being narcissist. Doesn't everyone adopt or absorb whatever they life from others and add it to themselves? But usually they do it because they really like it, not just to fit in. Am I not allowed to like BTS music because someone else does? Of course, if I really like it, I can go ahead. If that's wrong, then maybe unbeknownst to me, I'm a narcissist???

If you're really a narcissist, don't you believe you're God's gift to the world? Why would you want to change? If someone suspects they might be a narcissist and doesn't want to be doing behaviour that messes up relationships, then might they not actually be a narcissist?

You're not crazy. What you're going through is normal after a narcissistic relationship. You've been used, abused, manipulated & lied to. You've been future faked & given false hope. The thing that helped me stay away was remembering how awful it could be, the Confusion, the Pain. It came down to either staying in the relationship & being in long term pain or going No Contact & being in short term pain. You've chosen wisely. Stay strong. 💪
