Self-righteous internet idiots absorb that kind of stuff, even in small amounts, and find a way to make it all about them. And now it's personal. And now they think they need to send words to try and scare someone into not offending them, or harass someone, because they need that illusion that they are getting revenge, or somehow doing justice. I want to emphasize the last point you made. I agree with everything you said, but there's a huge difference of attacking and educating. If someone makes a mistake somewhere, by all means, point it out, RESPECTFULLY. Never attribute malice to what is probably ignorance. I've had great success in being respectful and educational when I point stuff out on the Internet. If someone is wrong, and you start attacking the person because of it, the only thing that will happen is that the person you're responding to will get defensive, and possibly respond in the same tone. Neither of you will learn anything, you'll not get your point across, they will think you're an idiot and everyone will be worse off. I just felt like most of the video came out as "if someone made a mistake, don't call them out on it". It's not what you advocated, I know, but the general tone sort of implied it until I got to the last minute or so. I would have liked a bigger focus on what to do instead of being an asshole, rather than just the "don't do this" which the majority of the video was.
@parkamark6 жыл бұрын
The DailyFail (DailyMail), here in the UK, also didn't report this correctly which probably explains the mentality of the individuals who attacked him on the Amazon Go thing. As far as I'm concerned, he didn't steal it. He just authorised a refund for the item AFTER he walked out the store, and AFTER he was charged for it! The issue is there was no way to return the item (which he explained!). The Amazon Go store has been specifically designed to make it almost impossible for any items to be stolen, so if you do manage that, that's on Amazon's head, not yours. They are taking the risk. They believe and trust in this technology so well, that they do not see it as an issue (which he also explained!). The morons attacking him need to grow a brain. This isn't about the tampons, but they make it so. He should have stayed clear of feminine sanitary products for his example - that is how the world seems to be these days, and I personally have very little time, and tolerance, for people like this, that get so easily offended, about total ... utter ... shite.

On top of that, those other people can either call the original spout of stupidity out on the many times aforementioned stupidity or they can also start spouting that same stupidity. I haven't watch Linus's video yet -- will soon, maybe some of the hate is a bit deserved for clickbate title and thumbnail? Pretty sure very few of those who are directing hate at him actually watched the video, or know anything about Linus -- that he is in fact married and has (2?) kids...but I think we can all agree that twitter is where humanity goes to die. I have a son and a daughter -- when we had our daughter, the nurse at the hospital took us both aside and showed how to properly clean a girl's parts -- yet, my wife probably knew, but I certainly didn't -- I don't have those parts, and never participated in any girls bathroom rituals -- not sure -- I guess it's not exactly a sexy thing to get your man involved in...my daughter is daddy's little girl, but rest assured when in 8-10 years when she does get her period, I'm sure I'll know less about it than my wife. I give our daughter baths, and get her dressed in the morning -- she is 4, hope not to get attacked by some weirdo perverts, and I put both of our kids to bed -- as a way to have some time with them after work, and give my wife a break as she is a stay at home mom. I also had to teach my wife proper cleaning of our son's private area -- somehow none of her past boyfriend's nor me for that matter felt the need to educate her on proper male hygiene. So schools are supposed to educate our kids on gender specific hygiene products/practices -- goodness....I give up.

+tenshi7angel when parents and teacher's at my daughter's nursery school find out that I do her hair in the morning, they're shocked -- she has the best hair styles, how can a hetero father possibly do girl's hair? She was going to tell her teachers that daddy was blow-drying her hair, she got a huge kick out of it, the first time I got the blow dryer out because I didn't want her going to bed with a wet head of hair....my political views are liberal/progressive, but often times the 0-60 of the left self-righteousness makes me wonder what the hell is going on.

This is one point I couldn't agree more. Coincidentally, just listened to this today and before that I had such an encounter, I wonder what are the odds. One thing I notice is that those who are genuinely like that, it is sadly a psychological overreaction with zero moderation (sadly, a quite human/normal reaction, it just manifests in many different ways, same issue though). They're trying to feel better by kicking someone down (i.e. they're not telling someone else they're bad, they're reinforcing to their subconscious that they're good). Specially if said someone can be placed into a convenient category such as an "oppressor" - then, to their eyes, their behavior _is_ different and justified, because they just subconsciously (i.e. the conscious has the benefit of ignorance) dehumanized the individual in question, because it is different to treat a now non-human being non-humanly. Ironic, really, that they complain about themselves or other groups being treated inhumanly but they cannot police themselves to not dehumanize others without realizing (or being able to accept) that they do such. That is when you get shit like a wealthy black boy who lives a luxurious life telling you that a homeless white man will always be less oppressed than he is, and the people who buy that crap. /rant

Google's solution for this should be like stats for hate vs positive comments... Would maybe give some direct context for content creators. Then with sufficient AI powers get a reverse-doxxing system :)

Saying things in a nuanced way doesnt help if they don't like what you are saying. even less if they want to get offended. you have a opinion. so some people have another one and cant deal with the fact that someone thinks something different. they are unable to see your point of view. some idiot will always get angry, doesn't matter what you say. even if you don't say anything, someone will tell you that it was your job to say something.

After a long day at work, playing this in the car while driving home somehow helped. Thanks. If this video even changes a few people to stop and reconsider their actions, it's well worth breaking the New year's resolution just this once. Can always go back to not swearing tomorrow. Also, I second the motion of a Rossmann podcast - the voice + the content would be perfect!

this is why we can't have nice things because of SJWs. Thanks so much Louis! Great video. I also love people that are in Hollywood or professional sports that think because of their position they are political wizards.
@LividCreature4 жыл бұрын
On the flip side, the anti-SJWs don’t want trans people in sports, don’t want their son to like the color pink, and completely reject that racism exists. Kinda weird how that works huh?

Late to the party but I gave a thumbs up at 1:53 based on reasonable thinking and logic... Wished I could have given an additional like at 7:10...After watching the full video: Since I could not up vote this video more than once, any other notations of wanting to up-vote the video is moot. That being the case, I will thank you for articulating, very well and far better than I ever could, many of the practices and philosophies of being a descent human being and respecting others no matter our differences. Empathy is key. Thank you Louis!!!

Big fan of you both (although I follow Linus for quite a bit longer). You didn't get some details of the story right - but the grand picture is correct. Linus spoke with Amazon staff about not paying. Also Linus does know about the difference between tampons and pads - he just thought tampons was a more clear search engine term before hand. When he was there they only had pads, but he sticked to the term tampons because, well it's a more well defined key word. Cheers from Europe

The underlying problem here is that social media provides everyone with an equal public voice. Not everyone deserves a public voice. Not everyone has intelligent, constructive things to say. Some people just want to watch the world burn.

it's so funny to me too that if they were to take a look at least for 5 minutes at the Linus' channel, they would realize that he already has kids, and a wife and a family. The reason he is buying tampons... is for his wife, while people harassing him probably are shut ins who lie in bed and talk bitch about patriarchy all day long. I mean it just shows the whole scope of ignorance and blind desire to be offended and bring someone down to their level so they can feel good about themselves. Like that's just so pathetic I can't believe it

Good video. You cannot win against toxic groups. I was once in a conversation about sexual harassment at gaming conventions and made the "offensive" statement that victims should try their best to muster the courage to report it. Otherwise, nothing is going to change if people don't know about it. The group barraged me with insults, calling me an insensitive jerk because they assumed I'm a white man that had never been a victim and could never understand. And that I should just know my place and do nothing but pity victims and hate my fellow man. I then informed them that I was a victim of sexual harassment and bullying throughout my childhood in schools that tolerated it, and neither the school nor the police took any action when a bully attacked me with a weapon. I thought revealing this would prompt the group to lighten up. Instead, they called me a sympathy-mongering jerk and accused me of using my negative life experiences to gain sway in a conversation. *table flip*

The current generation is literally blowing my mind. It's amazing how they care so much about what other people do/say. Rather than simply improving there own life....or maybe they've accomplished everything in life, that the only thing left on the list was to bag Linus. Love your videos, keep up the good work.

Damn this video does not age well. Jordan Peterson lol. The dudes a white nationalist yet you’re wondering why “the mob” makes it all about race. Cause you’re talking about a group of people that genuinely want an ethnostate. Or insecure little boys sending death threats to someone who says maybe take a more critical look at the content I watch. Wel you’re right Louis, I won’t take the premise of assholes
