Hey nice thought out decision. Looks great Better than spending the $150 dollar for Tremer valance

Agree with others. Looks great, and a helluva lot easier than removing and installing a new valance. 💪work

This is a great method but I totally botched mine - did the thing where the jigsaw blade started to bend and track off unfortunately in the up direction and wasn't really salvagable. I ended up just taking it off (figured I'd have to take it off to put on a tremor valence anyway) and thought I'd try masking off and painting those lips and hardware a low gloss black and you don't even see them. Looks just fine with no valence after a bit of paint IMO. Wasn't that difficult to remove, either - there are a couple 8mms on each end that are hard to get to but if you take off the bumper brackets you have good access from underneath. Worst case if you don't like the paint you can still buy the tremor valence and put it on. Besides the looks and tire clearance it sure is nice to be able to get under the truck without putting it on ramps or jackstands.

It's odd how many people go OCD on that air dam. I don't know how much it helps MPG. I have no desire to make my 8MPG worse when towing. I don't even notice mine. Maybe it's because I am tall and my field of view is not seeing it all the time. You did a nice job on your project.

Lol, seriously? Two safety glasses comments, one in all caps. He's cutting plastic with a jig saw.... The world has gone pansy....
@ShelbyvsViper Жыл бұрын
Those two hangers in the front are for assembly, they lift and lock the frame above the assembly line conveyor jig. Also they are also used to mount a snow plow on front. Helps me so much down south in 98 degree Louisiana! 😂
@deal49211 ай бұрын
If they are for assembly why does the 2wd not have them? 🤔 I firmly believe they are on the 4wd version for the most part, because of how high these things sit, so in a collision the truck will not want to "climb" over whatever it hits, say a smaller car.
@nicktracy41187 ай бұрын
Yea definitely not for snow plow mounts, that plow with destroy those little pieces of metal
@MrGeorgeScatos2 ай бұрын
@@deal492 Exactly. Not sure why this is even still a mystery. Also, the lack of knowledge as to what they are is likely why so many are taking them off. Would not like to be the driver who rear-ends a small car and crushes the occupants by ending up on top of them...when it's discovered the brackets were removed, I could imagine some big trouble! Just leave the things on the truck ---> they're there for a reason!
@user-qt5eh9wb7g22 күн бұрын
@@MrGeorgeScatos They're indeed to keep you from running up a small car in an accident. You will not get in trouble if you remove them. Tremors don't have them, they're not a legal requirement at all. They're actually not to stop you from crushing occupants of the other car, they're meant to keep the truck from jumping/flipping off a smaller vehicle. This stuff is quite easy to look up online.

1. Not enough to matter. 2. It's a full size truck. Not worried about it. We'd buy a prius if we were worried about MPG's
@LWRC11 ай бұрын
So your speculation the size of the air dam for different trucks is to cover up hardware and not for aerodynamics! That's pretty bad engineering! You should do a before and after MPG test to see if the shorter air dam makes any difference!
@bubba990096 ай бұрын
Pretty sure the reason the 4x4 is taller is for aerodynamics due to the drag on the front drive components. The hardware it is covering up would be the same RWD vs 4x4. It might make a 0.1 mpg difference in the end - difficult to measure and not enough to worry about.
@briancorboy10423 ай бұрын
Swapped a 2wd valance into my 2019 4x4 f250. I lost a mile per gallon. That's a 6.2 with 4:30 gears .
@user-qt5eh9wb7g22 күн бұрын
Tremors have a short one already...... it's not a big deal, really. Remain calm, it will be ok...
@LWRC22 күн бұрын
@user-qt5eh9wb7g So you know more than the Engineers at Ford! Amazing! Ford just spent hundreds of thousands of dollars fitting the taller front air dam on their trucks that they didn't need to! Why aren't you being paid hundreds of thousands of dollars per year by Ford ??!!! And you didn't even comphrened the original comment!!!
@dontwantnospam8 ай бұрын
how much did it effect your mpg?
@bubba990097 ай бұрын
Yea I'm wondering the same thing. I can't imagine it is noticeable but even 0.02 mpg matters to Ford when it comes to the average fleet economy and a big piece of plastic is a pretty cheap way to get tiny gains.
